PERRY TOWNSHIP
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of 8:01 p.m. Thursday for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with the home owner and two individuals suspected of stealing the vehicle. After questioning everyone at the residence officers arrested two men for the theft of the vehicle, whose names were not listed. The Columbiana Police Department and the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office also assisted and Sinsley's Towing was called to retried the stolen vehicle.
-- Officers spoke with a woman by phone at 12:08 p.m. Thursday to report overhearing a threat. The caller advised that Megan Tomlin received a call from Randy Culler from the Columbiana County Jail while at her residence that day. The caller said they overheard the conversation and that Culler had said David Cole was being bailed out of jail and that he would be coming after the caller to beat her up when he gets out of jail. Officers advised dispatch to make the department aware of if or when David Cole is bailed out of jail.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised she had gone to the residence after finding out her grandchildren had not shown up for Head Start school that day. The caller found that the mother of the children had them at home and was slurring her speech and believed she was under the influence. The mother said she was sick and was sleeping. The caller said she had found bruises on one of the children's backs which appeared to be a few days old. The mother of the children's mother was also present and confirmed she was sick and not under the influence.
-- Officers spoke to a man by phone at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday in regard to an ongoing family issue. The man advised that he was fearful of his sister due to recent comments she had made. The man was advised to contact the police department where he lives to file a report.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Elberon Avenue at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday for a medical call. The caller said that a man had eaten an edible and was now having a panic attack. Officers found that the man and his wife had both eaten CBD gummies and now had racing heart rates. Both were transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for treatment.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday to assist Salem police's school resource officer. Officers stood by while the school resource officer spoke with the parent about an issue that occurred at the school.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of West State Street at 5:44 p.m. March 19 for a reported domestic incident. The caller advised her mother and her mother's boyfriend had gotten into an altercation and that while she was attempting to break up the altercation the boyfriend had struck her in the face. Officers then spoke with the mother and the boyfriend who advised they were arguing with one another but nothing physical had taken place between them or the daughter. Officers checked the juvenile for any signs of physical violence, observing no bruising, redness or marks of any kind. The boyfriend agreed to leave for the rest of the evening to avoid any further incidents.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 2:30 p.m. March 19 for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that he has had problems with people trespassing on the backside of his property. Officers found a truck at the backside of the property and spoke with a woman who advised that she had recently purchased the adjacent property and that her deed said she has access to the driveway. Officers advised both parties to speak to one another to handle the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 11:31 p.m. March 19 for a noise complaint. When officers arrived, they heard a man yelling for help and when they gained entry to the residence, they located an older man that had fallen. EMS was contacted and the man was transported to the hospital.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:49 p.m. March 17 for a report of a barking dog. Officers spoke with the owner who advised they would bring the animal inside.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Apple Street at 10:47 a.m. March 17 to assist Salem police in locating a runaway juvenile. Officers were unable to locate the juvenile.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Idaho Avenue at 5:27 a.m. March 17 to assist Salem police in locating a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was not at the residence.
-- Officers observed a vehicle in the area of Cry Baby Bridge at 3:10 a.m. March 17. Officers spoke with three individuals advising them to leave the area, and they did without incident.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 6:41 p.m. March 16 for an attempted overdose. Officers spoke with the victim and the caller and were informed she had taken a large amount of prescription medication. EMT and the fire department also responded. EMT transported the woman to the hospital.
SALEM
-- Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 8:52 p.m. Saturday in after a female juvenile from the home sent social media messages indicating she was inflicting harm to herself. Officers spoke with juvenile and her guardian and found a fresh injury to the juvenile's wrist. Medical personnel arrived and the juvenile was transported to Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman.
-- A Southeast Boulevard resident reported a possible telecommunications scam at 7:51 p.m. Saturday. The officer advised the people involved to block all communications from the person trying to have them send money.
-- Police responded with the fire department to th e100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 7:29 p.m. Saturday in reference to a piece of sheet metal hanging from an awning, causing a hazard, following extreme wind.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive at 6:51 p.m. Saturday in reference to a basketball hoop that had knocked over during extreme winds, striking a vehicle.
-- Police responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 6:50 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported a juvenile who had been causing issues had struck her son in the stomach with a toy baseball bat, leaving a red mark. Police spoke with the juvenile and his guardian and advised them the juvenile was not to return to the home.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Park Avenue at 5:17 p.m. Saturday in reference to a tree and powerlines down. Officers stood by with the fire department until Ohio Edison was able to address the issues.
-- An officer responded with the fire department to the 300 block of West 10th Street at 5:19 p.m. Saturday in reference to multiple lines down and a vehicle struck by a tree.
-- Officers responded with medical personnel to the 900 block of East Fourth Street at 4:38 p.m. Saturday in reference to a medical issue. Officers spoke with the people involved and a juvenile was ultimately transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 4:27 p.m. Saturday in reference to a tree that had fallen on a garage. Officers found the tree had also damaged the roof of a residence in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street. The fire department responded due to the tree being on a powerline.
-- Jimene Poole, 30, Youngstown, was cited for expired registration following a traffic stop on North Lincoln Avenue near East Third Street at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
-- An officer on patrol at 3:54 p.m. Saturday observed a tree that had fallen on a residence in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. The Salem Fire Department responded to ensure everyone inside was fine.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Jennings Avenue at 3:49 p.m. Saturday in reference to a tree that fell on a vehicle.
-- An officer responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:36 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported a woman she knows had been leaving her messages and did not want any further contact with the woman.
-- An officer responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:23 p.m. Saturday in reference to a tree top that broke off during extreme wind and struck her vehicle. The tree was removed before the officer arrived.
-- An officer responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 1:58 p.m. Saturday in reference to a medical issue and stood by while medical personnel spoke with the residents. A male juvenile was ultimately transported by ambulance.
-- An officer responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Saturday in reference to a small child on a roof. The officer spoke with the mother of the child and advised her of the problem.
-- An officer responded to the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 1:09 p.m. Saturday in reference to lines down and found a telephone line had become disconnected from a house. The resident was told to contact her telephone company.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:09 p.m. Friday where a resident reported suspicious activity coming from the downstairs apartment. Officers spoke with the man in question and advised him of the complaint. He claimed nothing was going on and the suspicious activity was coming from the upstairs apartment.
-- An officer responded to the 200 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:27 a.m. Friday where a resident reported receiving a call from an unknown person requesting information regarding a legal document. The resident said she was not expecting anything so believed it to be a scam.
