Salem

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Continental Drive at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers contacted the resident and confirmed everything was fine.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday for a possible theft. A resident initially advised that $40 was possibly missing; however, after speaking with the resident to obtain further details, it was determined that there had been some confusion and they weren’t sure if any money was missing. Staff members advised that the individual had provided a shopping list but had the cost applied to an account rather than providing cash.

— Carter Davidson was cited for failure to yield after his westbound vehicle on East State Street attempted to make a left turn into the Giant Eagle parking lot, striking a vehicle driven eastbound by Rose Brown at 3:06 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to a business in the 300 block of West State Street at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday to speak with the caller about an employee that was fired. The fired employee allegedly made threats to another employee via the phone, and the caller wanted him trespassed from the property. Officers contacted the former employee by phone and advised him of the complaint and that he is criminally trespassed from the property.

— Officers responded to the area of Highland Avenue at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday for a parking complaint. The caller advised there were cars parked on both sides of the road. Officers observed cars parked on both sides of the roadway, there was enough space for cars to pass through. Officers also observed a new house being built near the location where the vehicles were parked.

Lisbon

— Levi J. Ion, 29, East Friend Street, Columbiana, was cited for failure to control after an accident on Pritchard near High Street at 12:43 a.m. April 6. Officers found that the control arm of the driver’s vehicle broke, causing the driver to lose control, striking a pole and hitting electrical guide wires.

Leetonia

— Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Waddell Street at 1:45 p.m. Monday for a person to be removed. The person, Matt Withers, 34, Youngstown, had a condition of his last arrest bond that he does not go near the residence. When officers arrived, Withers was hiding upstairs in the children’s bedroom. Withers was transported to the Columbiana County Jail for trespassing and on a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

— Officers spoke to a man by phone at 10:25 a.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that two teenage boys had come into the store and stolen two bottles of liquor and some candy totaling approximately $35 the day prior. The theft was visible on camera; however, the store had no way to burn it to disc to give to officers for the case file, so officers used their camera and videoed the security footage showing the theft and attached it to the report.

— Officers responded to the Horizon Home at 8:19 p.m. Saturday for a report of a resident attempting to contact immigration and have himself deported. The resident, Matt Landers, 26, was known to officers to have mental issues including schizophrenia, and advised he keeps hearing voices telling him he is an illegal alien that needs to be deported and advised he had tried contacting ICE to have that done. The woman who runs the home advised that she was unaware Landers had called 911 and told him he should have contacted her first. It was advised that the last time Landers went to the hospital due to a suicide attempt they had taken him off all medication prescribed for mental health which had caused him to have withdrawals and issues since. The woman eventually convinced Landers to go to bed and attempt to sleep off the issue, and advised he had an appointment on Thursday to get back on the proper medication.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:49 p.m. April 4 for a report of identity theft. The woman advised that for the last two months someone had been using the money on her EPPI Card. The woman advised that she believed it was either her daughter using the card or a man she was familiar with. The woman filled out a written statement and provided a copy of the card’s transaction activity.
