LISBON -- A man accused of using a baseball bat to hit a woman and a car during an incident in Salem last summer appeared recently for sentencing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
Grant Goodballet, 24, Bank Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to a range of two to three and a half years in prison for felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and a misdemeanor criminal damaging count, with credit for 15 days served. Goodballet struck Christine Ross on top of the head with the bat after an argument on July 2, 2022 on East Sixth Street in Salem and also used the bat to damage a 2012 Chevy Cruze belonging to Austin Smith.

-- Nicholas J. Edwards, 33, last known address Butcher Road, Leetonia, was sentenced to nine months in prison for fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He entered a guilty plea last fall, but failed to appear for sentencing in February, with a bench warrant issued. He was taken into custody in March. The charges stemmed from him allegedly being intoxicated on March 11, 2022 and harming or attempting to harm Salem Patrolman Tanor English.
-- Detrick Orrell, 46, Morton Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to a prison term of three to four and a half years for possession of cocaine, a second-degree felony, with a forfeiture specification for money in a drug case. He received credit for two days served, with $1,866 to be forfeited. Orrell possessed cocaine in an amount equal to or exceeding 20 grams but less than 27 grams on April 14, 2021.
-- Brian Digman, 31, Columbia Street, Salem, was sentenced to nine months in prison for fifth-degree felonies of breaking and entering, two counts receiving stolen property and two counts forgery, with credit for 22 days already served. He was ordered to pay restitution of $2,500. Digman was picked up on a bench warrant in September 2022 after the warrant was issued in 2016 when he failed to appear for a hearing. Digman trespassed at F.W. Flory Inc. on Jennings Avenue, Salem and forged two checks from the company on Feb. 24 and 25 in 2015. He pleaded guilty to the charges in January this year.
-- Dennis Fender, 33, Coshocton, was ordered to serve 40 days in the county jail, with credit for nine days served, after violating his probation for aggravated possession of drugs for possessing methamphetamine on June 8, 2019.
-- Davon Moats, 20, Aten Avenue, Wellsville, was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail, with credit for four days served, for failure to provide notice of change of address, a third-degree felony, for failing to notify the sheriff's office of a change of address on May 17, 2022 as required for sex offender registration.
-- Joshua Brooks, 27, Austintown, was placed on probation for one year after pleading guilty to attempted possession of drugs, a lesser misdemeanor charge, for attempting to possess a drug on Feb. 14, 2020.
-- Joseph White, 46, Y & O Road, East Liverpool, was placed on a treatment plan for three years after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with credit for one day served, for possessing methamphetamine for Jan. 25, 2022.
-- Cheyenne Weyand, 25, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, was ordered to serve 250 days in the county jail, with credit for 153 days served, after her probation for a 2018 theft indictment was dishonorably terminated for violations.
-- Mariah Beaver, 32, last known address Lang Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 270 days in jail, with credit for 195 days served, after violating her probation for possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, from March 2019.
