SALEM

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a burglary. The caller advised that he had come home and found his basement door open, and upon checking the interior of the home he found his kitchen cabinets open. Officers searched the residence but did not locate anyone inside. Officers advised the caller to check the residence for any missing items and report them to the police department.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday for an alleged sex offense. Officers seized $160 from the man involved as part of the investigation.

— Officers responded to a dispute in the 200 block of West 16th Street at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a dispute. Officers spoke with the parties involved and found the incident to be verbal in nature only.

— Officers took a report of fraud at the police department at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday. The person said that they had received several notifications of new accounts trying to be opened in his name, and that he had already begun to take precautions. Only a report was needed at that time.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Third Street at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a neighbor dispute. Both parties advised that the other involved party was making threats of violence toward the other after a dispute over a Facebook post. Neither party wanted to file any charges or write a statement. Both parties were advised to stay away from one another.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Columbia Street at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Columbiana County Humane Agent. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the east end of the city at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. The vehicle was located legally parked in the 1300 block of East Pershing Street. Officers identified the driver and discussed the complaint with him. The man advised that he had fallen asleep while driving and struck the side of a guard rail outside the city. Officers contacted the agency in question and advised them of the situation.

— Officers responded to a property in the 500 block of Columbia Street at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers located a person living behind the residence in a tent, and due to the conditions of the property officers contacted the city zoning and housing department. Housing deemed the residence unfit for human habitation and a placard was placed on the door. The people living in the tent were making other arrangements as to where they would be staying.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute in progress. Officers spoke with both parties involved, determining it to be a verbal dispute over family issues with no physical violence reported. The male half willingly left the residence to go for a walk.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 2300 block of East Pershing Street at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday for a report of an ambulance needed. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious odor. Officers checked the area, and nothing could be located.

— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a city resident. Officers spoke with the person in question, and they were subsequently transported to the emergency room by ambulance.
