SALEM
– Police responded with medical personnel to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 10:04 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported her bother, who suffers from a neurological and developmental disorder had thrown a bottle of nail polish at her, striking her in the face. The resident did not want to press charges and was evaluated by medical personnel.
– Marie Todd Charity, 23, Salem, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop at Rose Avenue and East Third Street at 12:48 a.m. Saturday.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of Washington Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Friday to assist the Salem Fire Department with a medical call. Officers stood by with medical units until cleared.
– Jerry Lee Tharp, no age listed, Salem, was arrested on a warrant for domestic violence after officers responded to a 2300 block East State Street business at 7:58 p.m. Friday where he was known to have a warrant for his arrest.
– An officer responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 7:41 p.m. Friday in reference to multiple children throwing rocks at each other. The officer spoke with the parents of the children and advised them to keep the children away from each other.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street in reference to an assault and found it to be a criminal damaging incident in which the two victims reported being threatened by a known man and two other men who ultimately slashed the tires on their bicycles. The suspects had left before officers arrived. The matter is under investigation.
– Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense in the 100 block of West State Street at 6:17 p.m. Friday. Officers seized $100 from the suspect as part of the investigation.
– Police responded to the 100 block of West 14th Street at 5:23 p.m. Friday where a resident reported her children had seen another juvenile with a firearm on the next street over. Police spoke with the juvenile in question and his mother and found that it was toy gun that doesn’t shoot anything.
– An officer responded to the 800 block of Superior Avenue at 3:01 p.m. Friday where a resident reported finding the windshield of a newly purchased vehicle damaged sometime overnight. Another vehicle in the area also showed signs of damage. Both vehicles were parked in the 500 block of East Fourth Street. The matter is under investigation.
– Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 12:37 p.m. Friday to assist the Columbiana County Children Services with a juvenile issue. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
– Police responded to a 2200 block East State Street business at 9:49 a.m. Friday in reference to a disorderly woman who was seen arguing with the business’s bushes. Officers spoke with the woman in question and the business manager who wanted the woman to leave the property. The woman was issued a warning for disorderly conduct and left the area.
– Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:18 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman who had been brought in by a private vehicle for a psyche evaluation, but had walked out of the facility without being seen by a doctor. The woman was found in the parking lot and denied being at the facility for a psyche evaluation, but for a panic attack. She denied wanting to harm herself, gathered her belongings and left.
– David S. VanHorn, 34, Salem, was charged with criminal trespass after officers responded to a 400 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 7:08 p.m. Thursday where he was told to leave, but kept stalling for over 30 minutes.
– A West State Street resident reported at 6:48 p.m. Thursday receiving text messages from an unknown person who said they were going to post inappropriate photos of her online. She said the individual had gained access to her social media profiles and locker her out of them. She was advised of her options.
– Officers responded to the 2100 block of Southeast Boulevard at 5:56 p.m. Thursday in reference to a two-vehicle crash in which a motorcyclist was northeastbound when he lost control and struck a stationary vehicle at South Madison Street and Southeast Boulevard. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
– Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 5:27 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute in which the resident reported a known man had kicked in her screen door.
– Ashley Painter, 40, Newgarden Avenue, Salem, was cited for dog at large after officers responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 5:26 p.m. Thursday where the dog had reportedly killed several cats. – Officers found the dog in the 700 block of Sharp Avenue, but were unable to get close to it. The city’s humane agent was able to capture the dog and transported it to the humane society.
– Officers responded with medical personnel to the 600 block of East Pershing Street at 4:58 p.m. Thursday in reference to a westbound vehicle that struck a person who was attempting to cross the roadway. The pedestrian was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center for suspected minor injuries.
A West Fifth Street resident reported a situation with her juvenile son at 4:48 p.m. Thursday. Officers advised the resident of her options.
– Officers assisted the Mahoning County Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the 100 block of West State Street at 4:37 p.m. Thursday.
– Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 4:23 p.m. Thursday in reference to a juvenile making suicidal remarks. The juvenile was ultimately transported by medical personnel to the hospital for evaluation.
– An officer responded with medical personnel to the 1600 block of Fairview Court at 12:22 p.m. Thursday where an individual reported finding his father, who suffered from several medical conditions, deceased. The county coroner responded and no foul play was observed.
– Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 3:09 a.m. Thursday in reference to a dispute and found a man and woman who said they had been in verbal argument, but nothing physical occurred. They were advised to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.
– Preston S. Beagle, 34, Salem, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday at his home on a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for possession of drugs.
– Elias D. Lorenzo, 20, Salem, was cited for no driver’s license and failure to control following a one-vehicle crash at North Lincoln Avenue and East 11th Street at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday in which he attempted a right-hand turn from Sunset Boulevard and lost control, traveling off the roadway and becoming stuck in a ditch. No injuries were reported.
– Ryan A. Kaufman, 29, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday in which he was westbound on East State Street near Ohio Avenue and traveled left of center, over the curb and into the lawn of St. Paul Church, striking multiple bushes and a stone bench. No injuries were reported.
– An officer responded to the 1200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 2 p.m. where a property owner reported an ex-tenant damage a storage unit due to not being able to find his keys. The officer contacted the ex-tenant who agreed to contact the complainant and pay for the damages.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 1:06 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a dog that had attacked a postal worker on her route in the 900 block of Prospect Street. The postal worker was reportedly scratched by the dog. Officers contacted the city’s humane agent who responded to the scene to check on the animal.
– Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a possible domestic dispute in which a woman yelled for someone to call police. Officers spoke with a man and woman who said they had been in a verbal argument, but nothing physical had occurred.
– Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street and Ohio Avenue at 2:42 a.m. Wednesday in reference to an assault. Officers spoke with the victim who said the person in question had fled the area. Medical personnel responded to check out the victim.
– Patrolling officers at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday observed two juveniles on bicycles near Sebo Stadium who rode east away from officers. The juveniles were found at Oak Street and Woodland Avenue and transported back to the police department where they were ultimately turned over to their guardians.
– Officers spoke with a man in obvious pain inside the police department lobby at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday. The man said he had just been released from the hospital and agreed to be transported back to the hospital.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of East Third Street at 10:09 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a possible domestic and found it to be a dispute between neighbors. Officers spoke with the residents and resolved the matter for the night.
– Nancy Lanza, 41, South Elm Street, Columbiana, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of official business after officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday where she was reportedly walking around in public intoxicated. Officers found her to be intoxicated and she failed to comply with officers when they attempted to gather her information, causing a disorderly scene.
– An officer responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday to check on an individual having suicidal thoughts. The officer spoke with the individual who admitted to having the thoughts. Medical personnel responded and transported the person to the hospital for treatment.
– Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a wanted person observed in the area. The person fled on bicycle prior to officers arriving, allegedly in possession of stolen property. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the person.
– Kandi J. Poynter, 45, Salineville, was cited for failure to yield from an intersection following a two-vehicle crash at East State Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in which she was northbound on South Lincoln Avenue and failed to yield at the traffic light while turning right and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by William D. Sutter, 71, Salem. No injuries were reported.
– A West Fourth Street resident reported at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday receiving several email notifications of suspicious activity on her Amazon and Gmail accounts.
– Police responded to the 1700 block of Maple Street at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an unresponsive man lying on a front porch. Officers spoke with the man who said he may have consumed too much alcohol and passed out. Medical personnel responded, but the man denied treatment and a family member responded to sit with the man.
– A Georgetown Road resident reported at 11:46 a.m. Tuesday receiving counterfeit money during a garage sale.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday in reference to someone entering the residence within the past two weeks and stealing the copper piping.
LISBON
– Richard R. Vecchio, 61, Lisbon, was charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest after an officer responded to a 200 block East Lincoln Way home where a resident reported Vecchio had been on the property despite previously being trespassed. Vecchio then attempted to pull away from the officer during arrest.
– An officer responded to the Lisbon Laundromat at 4:45 p.m. June 15 in reference to a man who had been trespassed from the business returning. Officers located the man, who said he was unaware he had been trespassed from the business, but said he understood and would not return.
– An officer responded to the downtown courthouse at 1:20 p.m. June 15 in reference to a suspicious man who walked around the metal detector and started up the stairs, then left when told he had to go through the metal detector. The officer found the man in the square who said he was in town for a meeting and wanted to check out the architecture of building, but didn’t want to empty his bag. He was given ideas for places to visit until his meeting.
– Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln and Washington streets at 11:56 p.m. June 12 in reference to five or six women dancing to get drivers’ attention. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the women.
– An officer responded to the area of Thomas Road and Pine Street at 7:48 p.m. June 11 in reference to a possible domestic dispute and found a family dispute regarding a motorcycle. The people involved made arrangements to separate for the evening.
