Salem

-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 8:02 a.m. Friday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised that a person in the neighboring apartment was smoking, and she was concerned for the health of her dog. Officers did not smell the odor of smoke in her apartment, and she was advised to contact the landlord about the issue.

-- Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West Wilson Street at 6:38 a.m. Friday for a reported fireworks complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the complaint.

-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 4:48 a.m. Friday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers checked the area but could not make any contact.

-- Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 7:35 p.m. Thursday for a reported domestic dispute. When officers arrived there determined the matter was not a domestic and was actually a dispute over tenants moving out. Both parties were separated and the person gathered her belongings and left.

-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of West Eight Street at 7:33 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault. Officers found the incident to be a domestic dispute over a matter which occurred on a different day. Officers received conflicting stories, but nobody wanted to pursue charges and the involved parties had separated for the evening.

-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 5:50 p.m. Thursday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:15 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with taking a man into custody. The man was taken into custody without issue and transported to the Columbiana County Jail by Ohio State Highway Patrol. $50 was seized as evidence.

-- Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Benton Road at 3:55 p.m. Thursday for a report of reckless operators passing each other eastbound on West State Street. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicles.

-- Officers responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 3:16 p.m. Thursday for a report of a woman approaching vehicles and behaving erratically. The woman, who officers were familiar with from previous calls was standing near a store eating donuts when officers arrived. Officers assisted the woman with transportation to a family member's residence.

Highway Patrol

-- Charlene Makowiecki, 58, Boardman, was cited for failure to yield and OVI after her northbound vehicle on state Route 11 failed to yield while merging onto state Route 344 and was struck by a vehicle driven east on state Route 344 by Eric Ostrander, 52, Columbiana, at 5:28 p.m. Dec. 21 in Fairfield Township. Makowiecki was treated on scene for possible injuries by the Columbiana Fire Department.

-- Frank Cook, 55, Salem, was cited for failure to control after his westbound vehicle on County Road 400 went off the north side of the roadway striking a ditch at 8:48 a.m. Dec. 21 in Knox Township. No injuries were reported.

-- Jason Loving, 34, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound vehicle failed to yield while entering Georgetown Road from a private alley, causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven west by Kevin Gross, 60, Beloit, at 3:35 p.m. in Knox Township. No injuries were reported.

-- Joseph Anderson, 25, Alliance, was cited for failure to control after his northbound vehicle on Westville Lake Road went left of center, off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment before striking a ditch and another embankment at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 17 in Knox Township. No injuries were reported.

-- Brittany Moore, 32, East Palestine, was cited for failure to control and hit and skip after her northbound vehicle on Leslie Road went off the right side of the roadway striking a tree stump and another tree at 10:35 a.m. in Middleton Township. No injuries were reported.
