-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the resident and were advised that a child had been playing with a cell phone and must have dialed 911 by accident. Officers made sure everyone in the home was okay.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday for a trespass complaint. Officers were advised the Randall Culler, 44, Lisbon, was on a property he had previously been trespassed from. Officers made contact with Culler on the property, arresting him for criminal trespass, and transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a stolen catalytic converter. Officers observed the converter had been cut off the vehicle with a saw.
-- Officers spoke to a man by phone at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a reported civil issue. The caller alleged that he paid $650 to Rich Carter Construction in Spring 2022 for material to repair a skylight on his residence but had never shown up to do the repair and could not be contacted.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday for a noise complaint. Officers spoke with a man, advising them of the noise ordinance.
-- Officers performed a warrant check in the 1300 block of West State Street at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. Officers located the person in question Jeffrey McCain, 49, Salem, confirming the warrant and taking him into custody and transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the Dollar general on East Pidgeon Road at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday for a reported theft. Officers spoke with the caller and the complaint is under investigation.
-- Officers took a report of telecommunications harassment by phone at 6:31 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the caller and are investigating the complaint.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of North Indiana Avenue at 4:24 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that multiple items have been taken off the front porch of their residence from the shed in the back yard over the past couple weeks. The caller also had a motion activated light on the porch get vandalized. Officers spoke with a neighbor with security cameras and will be deploying extra patrols in the area.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of West Pine Lake Road at 10:32 p.m. Sunday for a report of barking dogs. Officers tried to contact the dog's owner but were unable.
-- Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Route 9 at 11:59 p.m. Sunday for a report of property damage. The caller advised that at around 6 p.m. the day prior a vehicle left the roadway and struck two mailboxes. Officers documented the damage and spoke with the neighbor whose mailbox was also struck.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue at 1:11 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a man was seen on the side of the road with a disabled vehicle. Officers found the vehicle was off of the roadway and not causing any hazards, further investigation showed the man who was with the car, Scott Clinton, 47, Salem, had a warrant out of Columbiana County. After the warrant was confirmed, Clinton was placed into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of East Fourth Street at 12:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of an intoxicated person. The caller advised that three men were outside consuming alcohol and one of them "exposed his buttock to her" as she was driving by. Officers spoke with the men who denied the allegations.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a clerk who was reportedly upset. Officers found that the clerk needed to leave the store due to not feeling well, and officers stood by until a manager responded to lock the store.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious vehicle with people sitting inside it for several hours without exiting. Officers spoke with the occupants who advised that they were just talking and one of them lived at a nearby residence.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a dispute between a man and woman. The caller, who was a third party, heard yelling from outside. Officers spoke with both parties finding the dispute to be between a man and woman who are not household members. Both reported nothing physical had occurred and the male half left the area.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Eight Street at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a man whose family were unable to contact him. Officers spoke with the man, finding him to be okay, and gave a message from family members.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a man who was allegedly slumped over in his vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle who advised he was okay and didn't need anything.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of West Fourth Street at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday for a report of lines down. Low hanging wires were located but the roadway was not obstructed.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 11 a.m. Wednesday for a report of fraud. The man alleged that DIRECTV has been taking money out of his bank account and he has never had DIRECTV. The man had already been in contact with his bank and advised he needed a report on file.
-- Officers spoke with a driver in the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday who advised they were going to Lisbon to conduct a wellness check after being unable to reach a family member by phone. The driver advised that the family members sometimes frequents Salem and provided information about the family member in case officers encountered them, and a phone number for follow-up contact in case they were located.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of Orchard Avenue at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday for a dumping complaint. Officers were advised by the caller that an unknown person had dumped numerous trash bags in front of their residence. Officers advised the caller of their options.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Second Street at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday for a report of theft of trash services after the caller located multiple trash bags in the dumpster that did not belong to the business. Papers located within the trash identified a nearby resident of the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue and attempted contact the owner, but nobody answered the door. Officers will continue to attempt contact until the owner of the trash can be advised to cease use of the businesses dumpster or theft charges will result.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday for an alarm drop. Officers located two men behind the business who advised they were allowed to be at the business. Officers confirmed this through the key holder when they arrived on scene.
