County Sheriff

— A man on Salem Alliance Road, Butler Township, reported at 11:26 p.m. Friday that his cell phone and security cameras were hacked.

— Deputies were dispatched at 11:38 p.m. Thursday to Market Street, Salineville, for a man sitting on a porch who needed medical attention. An ambulance was summoned to transport him to a local hospital.

— Shane Russell Hart, 31, West Main Street, Salineville, was charged with making false alarms, inducing panic and falsification after police were called at 11:23 p.m. July 23 to West Main Street, Salineville, for an alleged drug overdose that was allegedly false. The sheriff’s report said there was a 911 call that a person had overdosed on meth and was unconscious. Deputies, Salineville EMS and Northstar EMS arrived and found there was no medical emergency. Hart had been served at the jail with the warrant for the charges after Salineville Police arrested him on other charges. He’s expected to face a pretrial today in county Municipal Court.

— Deputies at 1:57 a.m. July 20 spoke with a couple on Westville Lake Road, Knox Township, who had an argument and a dispute over family matters. The male half agreed to leave for the night.

— A deputy was dispatched at 12:45 a.m. July 20 to Taylor Road, Middleton Township, for a report that a father wanted his adult son out of the residence after he was allegedly causing a problem. After the deputy arrived, he learned the father had already taken the son to his mother’s residence for the night.

— Deputies at 11:53 p.m. July 19 assisted a local agency with a male experiencing a mental health crisis on Spruce Street, Leetonia. The male was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.

— A spokesman for Ohio Edison reported at 12:46 p.m. Monday that someone cut down a telephone pole at an abandoned industrial site on Darlington Road, Middleton Township. He said it appeared the pole was cut down with a chain saw. The electrical lines to the pole were not energized, but the pole had three transformers attached to it and they were damaged and Ohio Edison will have to clean up the leaking oil. The wires also pulled down another pole when the first pole was cut down. No wire was taken from the downed poles.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 12:30 p.m. Monday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that the woman in question broke a surveillance camera he had installed in his apartment and wanted her to either pay for the camera or press charges. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 2100 block of East State Street at 11:44 a.m. Monday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised a woman called their place of employment and wanted her fired due to an altercation that took place at the business. Officers spoke with the caller’s manager who advised they spoke with the woman by phone and determined the altercation did not happen at the place of business. Officers contacted the woman by phone who advised she was sorry and didn’t realize the altercation took place at another location, and she wouldn’t call again.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Howard Avenue at 10:52 a.m. Monday for a reported neighbor dispute. A resident on the east side of the street claimed that a resident across the street had been harassing them and calling them names prior to officers’ arrival. Officers spoke with the resident in question who was listening to music and denied harassing the caller and claimed they had not spoken to them all morning. Officers advised both parties to avoid further contact and to ignore one another.

— Officers on patrol observed several signs posted on utility poles in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue at 9:12 a.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the resident in question advising him that the signs were in violation of city ordinance, and that if they were not removed a citation would be issued. The resident was advised by the person that they understood and would take care of the situation.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:24 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area and confirmed everything was okay.

— Officers observed two males at the community center at 12:34 a.m. Monday. Both were found to be juveniles and they were transported back to their guardian.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 1:02 a.m. Monday for a report of a recovered bicycle. Officers collected the bicycle, and it was taken to the Salem Police Department.
