Sheriff’s Office

— A representative of Italo’s, state Route 45, Lisbon, in Center Township, reported at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday that the restaurant received a counterfeit $20 bill. The counterfeit $20 bill was confiscated and put into the evidence room at the sheriff’s office.

— A representative of B & S Carryout, state Route 39, Washington Township, reported at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday that their mailbox was struck by a red Ford Ranger, which kept on driving.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday at Buffalo Road and Campbell Road, off the road in a ditch. When a deputy arrived, the suspicious vehicle was no longer on the scene. The area was checked in all directions, with no contact made with anyone.

Salem

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:28 p.m. Thursday for a report of scam. The caller advised that he received a phone call from an unknown person who wanted him to buy a Home Depot gift card for a fundraiser and send it to them. The caller advised he got the gift card and sent it to them, but realized it was a scam. The caller advised he already contacted his bank and credit card company but wanted a report of file.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:45 a.m. Thursday who advised their nephew had not gone to school that day. Officers gathered information and were in the process of entering the juvenile into LEADS when he came back home.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Eighth Street at 7:46 a.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised a vehicle had been parked on the road for an extended amount of time without moving. Officers attempted to contact the owner but were unable to, and a red warning was left on the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:46 a.m. Thursday for a report of criminal mischief. The caller advised that a note was left by an afternoon shift employee that her husband witnessed a man spray painting a bicycle on the east side of the business leaving the sidewalk damaged. She was advised that a report would be filed and follow-up with the witness for a statement would occur, and photos were taken to document the damage.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 10:19 p.m. Wednesday for a reported barking dog complaint. Officers advised the owner to bring the dog inside if it barks.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fifth Street at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday for a hit and skip. Officers located the vehicle in question, which had damage to the passenger side, and conducted a traffic stop. Officers had the driver, Julie Smith, 45, Salem, complete field sobriety testing and they were taken into custody for OVI and officers transported them to the Canfield Highway Patrol Post for a breath test. The driver agreed to the breath test and blew a .164% blood alcohol content and was transported to the Salem Police Department for booking and was cited for OVI, reasonable control, and leaving the scene of an accident.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 5 p.m. Wednesday for a reported hit-and-skip. An unknown driver was traveling westbound and struck a vehicle driven by William Ford, damaging the left side fuel tank and steps before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that she had received a call from a person claiming to be from her phone provider stating that they would need to install new equipment, and that after speaking with the person she contacted her phone provider, and they informed her she had not contacted her. Officers provided them with options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:29 p.m. Wednesday for a report of identity theft. The caller advised that someone had taken her identity, and she needed a report as her banking and personal information was being used.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised she was unable to make contact with her client for her home health visit. Officers spoke with the neighbor who called the person in question and contact was made.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday for a barking dog report. Officers spoke with the owner of the dog who advised it was only out for five minutes. He was advised to try and keep the dog quiet.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that she wanted a person she’d recently broken up with removed from the property. Officers were aware that the person had taken up residency at the home and were unable to make him leave, however after speaking with him for several minutes officers were able to get him to leave on his own to alleviate the situation for the night.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man blowing leaves in the roadway. Officers spoke with the person in question who admitted to blowing the leaves into the roadway, issuing a verbal warning and advising him to remove the leaves. Officers stood by while the leaves were removed.

— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday officers observed a juvenile, known to have run away multiple times in the past, walking unsupervised. Officers spoke with the juvenile and gave them courtesy transport back to their residence.

Leetonia

— An officer stoodby for an EMS call at 3:12 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Columbia Street.

— Police pursued a juvenile runner at 11:46 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of Walnut toward Washingtonville as the youth had wanted to visit his uncle.

— An male subject on Somer Street wanted to file a report at 5:47 p.m. Oct. 31 against his daughter’s abusive boyfriend from an incident a year ago.
