— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised they were having issues with their juvenile daughter. Officers advised them of their options and the issues were resolved for the night.
— An officer spoke to a person at the police department at 6:44 p.m. Tuesday regarding alleged dealing of narcotics. The officer will forward the information to the appropriate officer.
— Officers took a report of a person passing fake check in the 2300 block of East State Street at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday. All information was collected, and the matter will be turned over to detectives.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Madison Avenue at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday to check a residence for people squatting. Officers checked the building but were unable to locate them. An extra watch was posted. Officers will check periodically in an attempt to locate and move them along.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised a person had been in the lobby for several hours going back and forth to the bathrooms. Officers spoke with the person who advised he was just kicked out of a friend’s home and was awaiting a ride from a family member. His cell phone was dead, and he was charging it, and arrangements were made with the caller for the person to stay until their ride arrived.
— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of East Eighth Street at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle parked on the street that appeared to be abandoned. Officers tagged the vehicle and later spoke with the owner to explain why the vehicle was tagged.
— Officers responded to the area of West Fourth Street at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday for a possible neighbor dispute. The caller advised that the other party his property and he wanted it back. The other party advised the property was not the caller’s and that he would not be giving it to them. Officers advised them that the issue was civil.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 10:38 a.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip that had occurred on Monday. A vehicle was legally parked and unoccupied when struck by an unknown vehicle, damaging the driver’s side door and rear quarter panel. The store will review the surveillance video in an attempt to identify the other vehicle.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Seventh Street at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday for an animal complaint. The caller advised that she witnessed a man kick a dog. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he had kicked the dog while running and that it wasn’t to hurt the dog but to keep from falling over it. The dog did not appear to be injured.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Street at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday for a reported drug overdose. Officers located the person in question and administered Narcan. Once medical personnel arrived, they took over the scene. While officers were on scene drug paraphernalia was located in plain view and an agent with the Drug Task Force was contacted. EMT transported the person to the Salem Regional Medical Center and the matter is under investigation.
