Sheriff’s Office
— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 5:48 a.m. Wednesday on North Pleasant Drive near Failor in Unity Township. The vehicle was found stuck in the mud off of the road. The owner arrived and said he pulled off the road to use his phone and when he tried to pull back out he was stuck and doesn’t have money for a tow truck. He was waiting for a friend to call him back or someone to stop and help him, but he’s okay. He was licensed and had no warrants. The vehicle could not be pushed out. He was told to call if he needs anything.
— Deputies responded at 3:07 a.m. Wednesday to U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, for a reported overdose of prescription medication. The person had been loaded into an ambulance for transport to the hospital and was transported. Deputies gathered information from a witness on scene.
— A loud barking dog was reported at 1:24 a.m. Feb. 1 on state Route 170 in Middleton Township. The dog was found running at large and barking, causing a disturbance. A deputy spoke with the owner, who was told the dog must be put inside. The owner was advised of the township ordinance against barking dogs and that he could be cited.
Salem
— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of South Penn Avenue at 12:14 a.m. Thursday observed a person outside the post office, and one inside the post office who had been trespassed from the property a few days prior. Officers spoke with the people, who were aware of the trespass notice, and took one of them, Kayla Clingerman, 38, into custody due to them being inside the post office. Once in custody Clingerman was searched and drug paraphernalia was located on her person. She was then transported to the police department for booking and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:13 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic in progress. The caller advised that they had gotten into an argument with their live-in boyfriend who threw a cell phone, striking her in the forehead. Minor injuries were observed and documented with photos and the boyfriend Joshua Green, 30, Salem, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with domestic violence.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday for a report of fraud. The caller advised their ex-husband tried to re-activate a credit card that is in her name. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday for a reported child custody situation. The caller advised that he has rights to his children, but his ex-girlfriend is not allowing him to see them. The caller advised that he knows the matter is civil but wanted a report on file.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Union Avenue at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised an unknown man contacted them by phone stating they owed money from a previous loan default. The caller advised that he had never had a loan from the back and officers advised them not to contact the man and that it was probably a scam.
— Officers received a tip involving child sexual abuse material at 2:52 p.m. Wednesday. The incident is under investigation.
— Crystal Angle-Wise, 58, East Liverpool, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign while turning onto South Howard Avenue from West Pershing Street and struck a vehicle driven by Sherry Boyer, 62, Salem, at 1:36 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle sitting in the middle of the roadway unoccupied. The vehicle was pulling away as officers arrived.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle allegedly parked on the side of the vehicle which hasn’t been moved. Officers observed the vehicle parked on the roadway against the curb with an expired registration and flat tire. Officers tagged the vehicle with a 48-hour removal ticket.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. The caller advised that a tenant who recently moved out of an apartment removed and took all the light and outlet covers. The caller also alleged that the tenant replaced the mirrors in both bathrooms with used broken mirrors. Officers attempted to contact the tenant by phone, but the line was disconnected.
— The school resource officer received a tip from the Columbiana Police Department at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday. The detective division was advised, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers on patrol in the 1500 block of East Pershing Street at 8:33 a.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle with a flat tire which had been parked on the street for some time. A 48-hour warning tag was left on the vehicle.
— Officers received a tip involving sexual abuse material at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. The incident is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of West Sixth Street at 8:13 a.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller had questions about a tree near the roadway with rotting branches hanging over the roadway. The caller didn’t know if the city or they had to remove the branches and officers advised them to contact the city zoning officer.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible water line break. A minor break was located, and the water department was contacted to handle the matter.
— Officers located a small water break int he 300 block of South Madison Avenue at 1:57 a.m. Wednesday. The water department was contacted.
— Officers on patrol in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:09 a.m. Wednesday stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver, Patrick Weaver, 38, Salem, was found to have no license and the vehicle’s plates were fictitious and possibly stolen and were taken as evidence. Weaver was cited for fictitious plates and driving under suspension.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman throwing rocks at the caller’s residence. The woman left prior to officers’ arrival, and the caller requested a report on file. Officers advised the caller to contact the department if the woman returned.
— Officers responded to the area of Georgetown Road and state Route 45 at 10:21 p.m. Tuesday to have K-9 Chaz conduct a free air sniff on a vehicle at the request of Ohio State Highway Patrol Post 15. K-9 Chaz was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Madison Avenue at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday for a reported custody dispute. The caller advised he was supposed to have his children for a few hours that evening but was running late from work and the children’s mother took the children back to her parents’ home after arriving at his residence and that there is a court order for shared parenting in place. Officers spoke with the mother who advised she did not remember how the court order was set and chose not to send her children with their father for the night. She was advised that not following the court order could result in the father going back to court and officers offered her options for addressing the court order.
