— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fourteenth Street at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman digging through garbage cans. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was able to go through garbage cans because they were on the curb lawn and officers advised her that she was correct and to just put any garbage she wasn’t going to take back in the cans.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. An unknown vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space and struck a legally parked vehicle before leaving the scene. The damage was documented with photos and officers attempted to review footage but were unable to obtain a plate to identify the owner.

— Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West State Street at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. Officers discovered the altercation had occurred over a relationship issue and were given conflicting stories. Neither party wanted to pursue charges, and both went their separate ways.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of East State Street at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a juvenile in the roadway on a scooter. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juvenile.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday to search for a man that was being seen in the emergency room that officers had criminal charges on from the previous night. Officers located the man, Ryan Butler, 39, Lisbon, and he was transported back to the emergency room and once he was discharged officers took him into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:55 p.m. Monday for a reported assault. The person in question assaulted a security guard for the hospital and attempted to leave the building before being stopped by a sheriff’s deputy. The person had already been restrained when officers arrived, and charges are pending.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 10:43 p.m. Monday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that someone they knew in high school was texting them and saying things they did not like through Facebook. Officers advised them to block the person, and he advised that he can’t because he wouldn’t be able to see what the person is posting. Officers advised a report would be on file.

— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an intoxicated person walking in the roadway. Officers spoke with the person who officers had already dealt with earlier in the shift and the fire department and EMT responded due to the person needing medical help for withdrawals. He was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 5:48 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller appeared to be under the influence of something and was not making sense and was offered medical attention along with other types of assistance which he declined. The homeowner asked that the person leave the party which he did, and he was advised that if he changed his mind about assistance to contact officers.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 5:24 p.m. Monday for a report of loud music. Officers advised the homeowner of the complaint, and he apologized and turned the music down.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 3:59 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damage to a motor vehicle. The caller advised that an unknown man started yelling at him and threw a nearly full can of pop striking the driver’s side door of his vehicle while he was driving in the area of East State Street and Ohio Avenue. Officers observed a freshly damaged section of paint along the lower kick panel at the bottom edge of the door and documented the damage with photos. The caller also advised they’d had previous issues with the same individual and wanted charges filed if possible. Officers gathered information and will forward the incident for review for charges.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Monday to check for a juvenile who had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Juvenile Court. Officers located the juvenile and placed him into custody, transporting them to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.

— Jacob Smith, Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension after a routine registration check on his vehicle in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Euclid Street at 10:31 a.m. Monday conducted a routine registration check on a vehicle showed the owner to be suspended.

— The school resource officer was advised of a student having a mental health issue at 10:11 a.m. Monday. The officer and school administrators and counselors spoke with the student, determining they needed more help than could be provided at that time and the student was ultimately pink slipped and transported to Akron Children’s Boardman by EMT. The student’s mother was notified.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Fairview Court at 9:09 a.m. Monday to assist Pennsylvania State Police in obtaining contact and insurance information from a person regarding a traffic crash. Officers spoke with the person in question and the information was given to the Pennsylvania state trooper.
