LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary/pretrial hearing was set March 27 for Brandon Shaffer, 28, Lisbon Street, Columbiana, charged with third-degree felonies of strangulation and abduction and misdemeanors of three counts domestic violence. Shaffer was accused of assaulting a woman and physically blocking the door, keeping her at the Columbiana residence longer than she desired to be there on Feb. 7. He was also accused of head butting a woman and pushing her around on Dec. 28, 2024 in Washingtonville and also throwing her into a wall, breaking the drywall, and pinning her against the wall on Aug. 26, 2024 in Washingtonville.
David Carll Simmons, 35, Kingsville, was fined $400 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 172 days suspended and credit for eight days served, for misdemeanor procuring amended from fourth-degree felony promoting prostitution and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and a prostitution prevention course. Simmons was charged for a sex-for-hire incident in East Palestine on Feb. 2 when he allegedly drove another person to the meeting location for the sex acts. He had paraphernalia for snorting methamphetamine.
A pretrial was set Feb. 20 for Scott Vincent Wedgewood, 61, Chester, W.Va., charged with domestic violence for allegedly threatening to shoot and kill a woman on Jan. 25, 2024, sending her threatening phone calls and voice mails.
A pretrial was set Feb. 20 for Phillip Jones, 31, Sophia Street, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly physically assaulting a woman on Feb. 9 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set April 28 for Lynn Norton, 50, Park Avenue, East Palestine, charged with domestic violence for allegedly charging toward another woman and using her hands to push her against a wall and pinning her against the wall while cursing and yelling at her in East Palestine on Feb. 9.
A pretrial was set Feb. 20 for John Peuterbaugh, 50, Cleveland Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking a woman in the head on Feb. 7 in Salem.
Stephanie Hudson, 32, Central Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $250 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for domestic violence. She was ordered to complete 30 hours community service. Hudson was accused of shoving another woman with enough force that the other woman fell to the floor on Nov. 10, 2024 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set Feb. 20 for Amy Colyer, 46, Cleveland Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking a man in the eye and scratching his face on Feb. 7 in Salem.
John Hamilton, 37, East Fourth Street, Salem, was fined $300 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 178 days suspended and credit for two days served, for assault amended from domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Hamilton was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her into the front door on July 22, 2024 in Salem.
Trinity Lewis, 19, Norton Street, East Liverpool, was fined $200 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 179 days suspended and credit for one day served, for assault. She was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to stay away from the victim. Lewis was accused of pulling a woman to the ground by her hair and punching her on the ground multiple times at Walmart in Calcutta on Oct. 30, 2024.
Dazhane Deneika Lashay Thomas, 27, Cleveland, was fined $200 and given a suspended 60-day jail term for soliciting. Thomas was also ordered to complete 20 hours community service. A charge of possessing marijuana was dismissed. Thomas was accused of posting an ad on a known prostitution website offering sex for hire and arranged to meet an undercover agent for sexual activity in exchange for money, traveling to East Palestine on Nov. 30, 2024 for the meeting.
A pretrial was set May 1 for Howard Hamilton Hill, 56, Akron, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with females in exchange for $140, then driving to East Palestine on Feb. 7 for the meeting.
A pretrial was set April 3 for Joshua James Dobbs, 44, Pittsburgh, Pa., charged with possessing criminal tools, engaging in prostitution and open container. He was also fined $875 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 86 days suspended and credit for one day served in jail and for three days served in driver intervention program, for operating a vehicle impaired first offense. Another OVI charge was dismissed. His driver’s license was suspended for one year and he was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Dobbs was accused of allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $140, then traveling to East Palestine for the meeting on Feb. 7, with an open bottle of alcohol in his possession.
Charges of third-degree felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanors of obstructing official business, failure to comply and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia against Bryan Dilling, 52, Franklin Avenue, Salem, were dismissed by the prosecutor. Dilling had been accused of refusing to comply with police commands and possessing a methamphetamine pipe and alleged methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Columbiana on Jan. 17. On Jan. 19 in Perry Township, Dilling was allegedly told to leave Dollar General and told police he needed to find his friend and then left. Officers later learned another agency had charges on him.
A pretrial was set April 8 for Tammy Virden, 62, Sunset Drive, Lisbon, charged with theft for allegedly concealing 10 items inside her purse and failing to pay for them, exiting Discount Drug Mart in Lisbon on Nov. 25, 2024. The items totaled $41.70.
Daniel Shoaff, 41, Uniontown, Pa., was fined $500 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, leaving a balance of 10 days still to serve under electronically monitored house arrest for theft and receiving stolen property. Shoaff was ordered to complete 80 hours community service. He was accused of pawning a woman’s television on June 17, 2015 which was reported stolen from New Waterford. On July 19, 2017 in Salem, he was accused of pumping $35 worth of gasoline into his vehicle and then leaving without paying.
Susan Pritt, 41, Haywood Street, East Liverpool, was fined $300 and sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for seven days served, leaving a balance of 53 days still to serve in jail for criminal trespass and two counts of theft. She was ordered to make restitution of $201 to TJ Maxx in Calcutta. Pritt was accused of stealing four items from TJ Maxx on June 10, 2024 in St. Clair Township. She also was accused of trespassing at Walmart in Calcutta, entering the store with no possessions and then selecting an ice maker, trying to return it, being denied and then walking out with the ice maker on Dec. 29, 2024. Pritt was ordered to serve an additional 81 days in jail for violating her probation from a 2022 case. The term was to be served consecutive to the 53 days.
Jason Call, 31, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, was fined $500 and sentenced to 75 days in jail, with credit for 14 days served, leaving a balance of 61 days still to serve in jail for two counts of theft, and single counts of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and obstructing official business. On Jan. 27, he possessed a burnt glass pipe in East Liverpool. On Nov. 8, 2024, he stole laundry carts from St. Clair Laundry in East Liverpool. Call stole a drink from Family Dollar in East Liverpool on March 28, 2024. During a traffic stop on April 17, 2024 in St. Clair Township, he lied about his name. On July 27, 2024, he trespassed in a condemned house in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set April 7 for Brandon Henderson, 36, Warren, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing drug abuse instruments for allegedly possessing a spoon used for the preparation of dangerous drugs and a hypodermic needle during a traffic stop on Feb. 7 in Salem.
Julie Smith, 45, East Pershing Street, Salem, was fined $1,075 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program for OVI failure to stop after an accident and failure to control. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year with driving privileges granted. She was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.
A pretrial was set April 24 for Chase Perkins, 26, Roosevelt Avenue, Salem, charged with furnish false information, two counts driving under suspension, improper/expired registration and loud exhaust.
A status conference hearing was set May 8 and a court trial was set May 15 for John Raymond Fry, 66, Bell School Road, East Liverpool, charged with OVI first offense, driving under suspension, left of center and distracted driving.
Brice Chamberlin, 20, West Pershing Street, Salem, was fined $250 and sentenced to 60 days in jail, with 59 days suspended and credit for one day served, for underage consumption.
Eric Wiley, 44, Stagecoach Road, East Liverpool, was fined $300 for improper/expired registration and no license amended from driving under suspension.
Jon Proya, 55, Railroad Street, East Liverpool, was fined $500 for driving under suspension and no valid license. A charge of one way street was dismissed.
A pretrial was set May 1 for Brianna Huff, 24, Devonshire Road, East Liverpool, charged with driving under suspension.
A pretrial was set March 4 for Edward Pittman, 42, Granite Street, Salem, charged with driving under suspension.
A pretrial was set May 5 for Ashley Marie Felger, 35, Echo Dell Road, Rogers, charged with driving under suspension and speeding.
Patrick Duffield, 22, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, was fined $200 for no valid license.
A charge of unauthorized plate was dismissed against Jessica Tice, 29, East Friend Street, Columbiana.
Benjamin Diddle, 19, Duke Vodrey Road, East Liverpool, was fined $200 for stop sign school bus.

Grand Jury
LISBON — An East Liverpool man accused of breaking into an unoccupied property, stealing a pinball machine and disposing of miscellaneous collectibles was served recently with a secret indictment.
Jason Call, 31, Avondale Street, was charged by the Columbiana County Grand Jury with breaking and entering, theft and receiving stolen property, all fifth-degree felonies, for the alleged incidents on July 23, 2024.
Also served with secret indictments were:
— Killian McHenry, 20, North Market Street, Lisbon, grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly stealing a 2023 Kawasaki on Dec. 13, 2024.
— Howard Catheline, 71, Youngstown, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing oxycodone on July 11, 2024.
— John Dennis Lanam, 44, Niles, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on April 20, 2024.
— Jennifer Ream, 46, Moore Street, Lisbon, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on Aug. 16, 2024.
— Chase Perkins, 26, Roosevelt Avenue, Salem, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with a specification for forfeiture of money from a drug case, for allegedly possessing $43 and methamphetamine on Dec. 6, 2023.
