Salem
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 8:58 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious vehicle. The caller advised an unknown vehicle was parked in the back lot of the apartment building. The vehicle’s VIN was run, and the owner was located next door.
— Officers responded to the area of Mullins Park at 4:54 p.m. Thursday for a report of a small child in the roadway. Officers spoke with several witnesses who advised they had witnessed the child in the roadway and picked him up. Officers identified the child’s mother and contacted her, determining the child’s grandmother had been watching him when he got out of the residence. The child’s mother responded and picked up the child.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 3:55 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised he witnessed someone kicking a door and found it to be an adult woman that lives at the location whose mother locked her out of the residence. The woman left prior to officers’ arrival but the mother was advised of her options.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 300 block of West Tenth Street at 12:24 p.m. Thursday to assist the housing department with securing a residence. The residence was checked and nobody was located inside, and the fire department secured the doors.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 10:06 a.m. Monday who advised that while working in the 1200 block of East Third someone acted like they were going to strike the city’s vehicle with his vehicle. The person just wanted to incident documented in case there were further issues.
— The school resource officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 8:35 a.m. Monday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that her juvenile daughter would not get out of the car to go into the school. The caller was advised of her options.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 7:57 a.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised his adult daughter was drugged while house sitting. Officers spoke with the daughter’s mother who advised her daughter was not drugged but accidentally used THC butter on her bagel which caused the reaction.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:58 a.m. Thursday for a road rage incident. The caller advised a black SUV was swerving and tailgating her. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle in question and it was found that both vehicles had exited the city prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers responded to the area of North Broadway Avenue and East Third Street at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area and found that everything checked okay.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that there was a male juvenile at her house that she did not want there. The juvenile advised they we’re going to their grandmother’s house for the night.
— Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street and South Broadway Avenue at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers located the juvenile behind the Salem Public Library and their mother was called to the scene. When she arrived, the juvenile refused to listen to the mother and officers, pushing his mother then headbutting her. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Tobin Center.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. One male was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail, and $100 was seized as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller and their juvenile daughter advised that threats were made by another juvenile that lived outside the city. Officers collected all the information.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported disturbance. The caller advised that two female juveniles were outside attempting to get her juvenile daughter to fight them, and that this has been an ongoing issue which led to her daughter being removed from normal school hours and put into night school. The caller was advised to call if they return and that a report would be filed with the juvenile officer.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Washington Avenue at 3:14 p.m. Wednesday for a report of fraud. The caller advised they received an email that morning stating someone had tried to use his DoorDash card at the Walmart in East Liverpool. The caller advised that the transaction was denied, and he locked his card and contacted DoorDash, but he wanted a report on file.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue and did not observe any violations inside the city.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Lane at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. Dispatch advised they witnessed what appeared to be someone smoking marijuana in the pavilion. Officers spoke with the person and the marijuana was confiscated due to their age. While speaking with them officers learned they were experiencing some issues with their home life and wanted to speak with a member of the CIT team. They were given a ride to the police department where they met with CIT.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday for a reported theft. The caller advised that someone unknown to him had removed a U Haul car dolly from the business without his knowledge or permission. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that someone had damaged the outside brick staircase. He advised that it was going to be demolished anyway but needed a report on file as it was a rental property.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Pearce Circle at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday for a reported theft. The caller advised they were conducting an online transaction when they lost a considerable amount of money. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday for a reported ambulance needed. The caller advised that they were having medical issues and wanted to be transported to the hospital. The caller was transported to Alliance hospital by EMT for medical attention.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to a neighbor dispute at 7:06 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised that they had just gotten home, and their neighbor was slamming doors and when he went over to speak with the neighbor, they yelled at him from behind the door. Officers spoke with the neighbor who advised they wanted to file a complaint the neighbors are throwing trash on the ground around the property. Officers referred him to the health department and all parties were separated for the night.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of state Route 344 at 4:56 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the man in question who advised they were recovering from an illness.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 11:18 p.m. Thursday to assist Salem officers in recovering a stolen a vehicle. Officers remained with the vehicle until the owner could take possession of it.
— Officers responded to Grandview Cemetery at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday for a report of the caller being harassed by neighbors while in the cemetery. The caller advised that he and two juvenile friends were in the creek area west of the cemetery picking up garbage when a resident in the 900 block of Southeast Boulevard came onto their back porch and began yelling threats. Officers observed multiple no trespassing signs in the wooded area the caller described, and the residents advised that they own that area. Officers advised the caller to stay out of that area of the cemetery in the future.
— Officers observed two vehicle traveling south on South Ellsworth passing multiple vehicles in a no passing zone at a speed of 109 mph in a 45 mph zone at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday. Officers attempted a traffic stop on both vehicle catching up to and successfully stopping one vehicle on Depot Road. A felony stop was performed and the driver, whose name was not listed, was detained. A firearm was located sitting on the passenger seat of the vehicle, and the serial number was run through dispatch with no hit. The driver advised they did not know the driver of the other vehicle which fled and that they had repeatedly revved their engine at him while stopped for a train on South Ellsworth. While one the stop dispatch advised that a 911 call had been received from a driver who had been passed by the other vehicle on Depot Road, who advised they had a dash cam in their vehicle and would check to see if it captured any plate or identification information.
