Salem
— A Stone Castle Trail resident reported at 4:43 p.m. Saturday that his neighbor’s tree had fallen down into his yard due to storms. The resident was advised the matter is civil and to contact an attorney.
— Michael P. Souders, 37, homeless, was arrested for a protection order violation and criminal trespass after officers on patrol observed him in the 1500 block of East State Street at 3:07 p.m. Saturday and knew him to have the pending charges.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Whinnery Road at 3:01 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported her juvenile son had thrown a food container at her while she was driving. The matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:40 a.m. Saturday where a juvenile reported a person who had a protection order against him and had been trespassed from the property had come to the home and knocked on the door. The juvenile said she called her mother and her mother was on the way home. Officers obtained a statement from the juvenile and a warrant was issued for the person in question.
— Blake Kennedy Solmen, homeless, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County after officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:15 a.m. Saturday in reference to a fight.
— Kayla D. Clingerman, Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County after an officer found her in the 1000 block of East State Street at 1:03 a.m. Saturday.
— Denver Soukup, 42, West Wilson Street, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Newgarden Avenue and West Wilson Street at 12:51 a.m. Saturday.
— Scott R. Jones, 44, Alden Avenue, Alliance, was charged with criminal damaging after officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 8:05 p.m. Friday where he had used black sharpies to draw inappropriate images on the windows of a business.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 7:35 p.m. Friday in reference to an apparent dispute between two people, one of which was involved in a previous incident at the location. Accusations of both people threatening one another were made and everyone involved were told to remain civil or face charges of persistent disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 6:25 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute and found the matter to be verbal and civil since the two people involved are married. They were advised they can do whatever they want with each other’s property and the matter needs presented to an attorney.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:55 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile problem and determined it to be a dispute over a cell phone. Officers advised the juvenile the cell phone in question belongs to his mother and she can do with it as she pleased.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:44 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute. Both people involved had left before officers arrived and officers were unable to find them.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:49 p.m. Friday for a well-being check. Officers gave the resident a courtesy ride to the Salem hospital emergency room for an evaluation.
— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the 100 block of West State Street at 1:20 p.m. Friday.
— A Leetonia resident reported at 10:05 a.m. Friday that she had been in a domestic dispute with the father of her children in the 200 block of North Union Avenue. The matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 7:57 p.m. Thursday in reference to screaming coming from a red truck that had turned east onto State Street. Officers checked the area, but did not find anything.
— An officer spoke with a complainant on station at 7:09 p.m. Thursday in reference to possible drugs. The complainant said they found a bag of drugs at a residence. Officers will follow up on the matter.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 6 p.m. Thursday in reference to an assault that occurred between two residents, but neither one remembered it happened. The caller just wanted a report of the incident.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of East State Street at 5:47 p.m. Thursday in reference to a fraudulent prescription. The person in question was observed running out of the store and ran into an officer standing outside. Officers made contact with another person who was driving an awaiting vehicle. Information was gathered and the matter was turned over to the drug task force detective.
— An officer responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:43 p.m. Thursday in reference to a young juvenile not properly restrained in a car seat. The officer was unable to find the vehicle in question.
— Allen Scott Vancooney, 29, South Union Avenue, Salem, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County for a probation violation after officers observed him in the 100 block of West Fourth Street and knew him to have the warrant.
— Officers responded with the Salem Fire Department to the 300 block of East Eighth Street at 8:34 a.m. Thursday in reference to lines down and found a tree had fallen, taking down power lines with it. Ohio Edison was advised and responded to the scene. Officers stood by with the fire department until barricades were placed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:46 a.m. Thursday in reference to recycling truck that backed into a dumpster then traveled the wrong way on a one way street. Officers contacted the driver who said he did not hit anything, but picked up a dumpster to clear. The driver also said he it was too hard to turn around when he realized he was traveling the wrong way on a one way street. Officers did not observe any damage or anything unusual and let the driver off with a warning.
East Palestine
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Market Street at 7:38 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman banging on the front door of a home. When officers arrived the woman was sitting calmly on the front porch and she advised she was trying to get her boyfriend to open the door. The woman was not a resident of the home and was advised to move along and given a warning for disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to a 100 block East Main Street apartment at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday where a resident requested her daughter be removed. Officers checked the home and found that the daughter was not there.
— A complainant reported at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday that he was a victim of an Apple Card scam in which he was attempting to find a rental home and came across one online. Upon inquiring, he was told he had to send money through Apple cards to view the property and also for the application process. Ultimately he said he was scammed out of several hundred dollars in cards.
