Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies at 4:36 a.m. Sunday checked the area of Depot Road between Salem and Winona regarding a call involving a juvenile possibly walking the roadway. Upon patrolling the road, deputies made contact with an adult female and spoke with her. Deputies then checked the immediate and surrounding areas to make sure there were no additional people, finding none.

— A disturbance was reported at 2:22 a.m. Sunday around the area of Darlington Road in Middleton Township. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and he advised what was going on. Deputies then checked the immediate and surrounding areas, but didn’t find the people the homeowner advised them about.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Prospect Street at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a grocery order being sent to the wrong address. The caller advised that he had knocked on the door of his neighbor where the groceries were dropped off but did not get an answer. Officers spoke with the neighbor and the caller retrieved his groceries.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Penn Avenue and Walnut Street at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle that was illegally parked. Officers spoke with the owner who advised they would move the vehicle.

— Nancy McNeal, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her southbound vehicle on North Broadway Avenue failed to yield to traffic, striking a vehicle driven eastbound on East Second Street by Daniel Baxter, Salem, at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Southeast Boulevard and Oak Street at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle parked in a prohibited parking zone. Officers spoke with the driver who moved the vehicle to a legal parking spot.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Buckeye Avenue at 7:08 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible threatening message that had been observed on social media. The message had referenced Salem and a high school, but it was no longer available to view, and it could not be verified if the message was current or pertained to Salem, Ohio. No other reports were received and officers gathered what little information was available which was relayed to other officers, the school resource officer and high school administration. As a precaution extra officers were present and patrolled the high school with no issues nor anything to substantiate any sort of threat found after thorough investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Goshen Road at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious person. The caller advised that someone was banging on their door. Due to the address being outside officers’ jurisdiction, the Perry Township Police Department was contacted, and officers checked the surrounding areas that were within the city’s jurisdiction.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Cleveland Street at 6:17 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that she kicked her daughter out, but she keeps trying to come back to the residence with a house key. Officers advised the caller that she needs to legally evict her daughter due to her living there for a few years. Officers also spoke with the landlord, and she stated he would go through the process in the morning.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Shady Lane at 5:51 p.m. Monday for a reported custody dispute. Officers explained their options to both parties.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 5:33 p.m. Monday to provide traffic control at the intersection of West State and Georgetown Road.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 3:36 p.m. Monday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he needed to stay at the hospital for medical treatment and was waiting to be transferred to Canton for surgery.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 3:22 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile complaint. The mother advised the juvenile was acting out with behavioral issues. When officers arrived, they observed the juvenile to be experiencing a possible mental health crisis, and the fire department was contacted to respond. The juvenile was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:27 a.m. Monday regarding a tip being added to a bill at East of Chicago Pizza. Officers documented the matter and advised them to contact officers if there were any other issues.

— Officers responded to the first block of Elm Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question, Clinton Scott, Columbiana, who was not doing anything wrong; however, officers found that he had an active warrant out for his arrest through Columbiana County. Officers took Scott into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers on patrol observed a vehicle in Centennial Park after hours at 10:27 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the occupant, advising her of park hours and sent her on her way.

— Officers responded to the police department at 8:33 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that they were on Andrew Avenue collecting scrap from dumpsters when people in the area began voicing their displeasure with what he was doing. Two pickup trucks then followed him into the city and did not stop until he reached the police department. He also advised that he would not be returning to that area anymore. Officers advised him to contact them if he was followed again.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 7:33 p.m. Sunday for a reported runaway juvenile complaint. The caller advised that a 15-year-old juvenile had left the residence and was last seen headed toward Southeast Elementary. Officers searched the area and were able to locate the juvenile on Ridgewood Avenue and return him to the residence.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 4:13 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were fine, and officers advised her to contact her employer.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 8:04 p.m. Saturday to assist the Beaver Police Department with locating a vehicle involved in a hit and skip in their jurisdiction. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle in question but spoke with a resident who advised they had lived there for about a year and did not know the person in question.

— Officers responded to Goshen Road near Colonial Drive at 7:25 p.m. Saturday to attempt to locate a missing juvenile last seen in the area. The juvenile is known to have run away from home in the past and was last located in the 2000 block of Countryside Drive. The juvenile was located at a business in Salem.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 4:48 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on the resident and their three children. It was found that a 3-year-old child did have a mark under his left eye, but his 8-year-old brother advised that he had accidentally fallen on him.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:16 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic issue regarding her father-in-law. The person advised that they had a verbal argument earlier in the week and again that night and requested the situation be documented at that time.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of West State Street at 7:53 p.m. Friday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with intoxicated people. Officers stood by and assisted as needed and Alliance officers provided a courtesy transport.

— Michael Vrabel, 61, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his eastbound vehicle on Georgetown Road failed to yield at the intersection of Georgetown and state Route 45, and struck a vehicle driven southbound on state Route 45 by Gjon Ivezaj, 64, Flagler Beach, Florida, at 11:28 a.m. Friday. Vrabel was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment by EMT.

— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 10 a.m. Thursday regarding theft. She advised that her wallet, which contained her driver’s license, social security card, and $50 cash, was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. No damage was reported to the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Southridge Drive at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported animal complaint. The homeowner advised that she was walking her two small dogs on Southridge and was attacked by two large dogs. The caller advised that the two large dogs, a Saint Bernard and a black shepherd, surrounded them and started biting her dogs in the rear, and she kicked at them to get the dogs away from hers. No injuries were reported to the caller but one of the small dogs had a lump on his back-end area. Officers attempted to contact the owner of the other dogs, but they were not home, and their sister was advised to inform the homeowners of the complaint.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Allen Drive at 8:44 p.m. April 1 for a reported domestic complaint. Officers found both parties were engaged in a verbal argument and stood by as possessions were collected and parties separated for the night.

— Officers responded to Cry Baby Bridge at 8:24 p.m. April 1 for a report of possible dogs dumped there. Officers found a dog kennel placed in the roadway which did not have any animals in or around it.
