Sheriff’s Office
— A New Waterford man at 10:58 p.m. Friday requested a welfare check on his 7-year-old daughter who was at her mother’s residence in Fairfield Township. He said he went there at 6 p.m. to pick up his daughter and no one was there and he was unable to make contact with the mother. A deputy spoke with her and was told the child was fine. The man was advised.
— A couple from Salem came to the sheriff’s office to report their 17-year-old daughter was being excessively bullied at Salem Senior High School and at Centennial Park. They were advised to contact Salem police and the school due to the incidents occurring in their jurisdiction.
— A deputy responded at 6:38 a.m. May 1 to Ashton Road regarding a civil matter, advising a report will be on file if needed.
— A resident on Kevin Drive, Knox Township reported a theft and a person trespassing on her property at 7:34 p.m. April 29. A warrant was issued for a person out of Columbiana County Municipal Court.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 3:43 a.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller advised that he believed he saw someone enter his home through a window on his surveillance camera and requested officers check on his wife and niece who were inside the home. Officers attempted contact but nobody answered the door and no signs of anyone walking around the house or going through a window were present. Officers contacted the caller again and were advised that his wife was inside and fine but did not want to answer the door. Officers attempted contact again unsuccessfully and the caller did not respond to further calls.
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 3:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle in question and followed it for several blocks and did not observe any violations.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Oak Street at 8:40 a.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located the vehicle, which was parked the wrong way on the roadway and spoke with a friend of the owner who advised they were on their way to move the vehicle.
— Officers assisted Perry Township officers with an OVI test at the police department at 3:17 a.m. Sunday. Officers stood by while they conducted the test.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and East Euclid Street at 12:27 a.m. Sunday for a report of a transformer on fire. Officers found that a tree branch had struck the power lines and transformer causing a small fire. The scene was maintained until Ohio Edison arrived to resolve the issue.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Jones Drive at 12:01 a.m. Sunday for a warrant check. Officers contacted the woman in question, Tricia Watson, 41, confirming the warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 10:49 p.m. Saturday for a report of a possible fight. A disorderly man was yelling and going on about getting kicked out of two bars and the man was warned for disorderly conduct. The man continued to yell and scream out profanities. The man, who was not identified in the report, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct, and he was also given a criminal trespass for the Foundry. The man was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 10:06 p.m. Saturday for a noise complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle next door was playing loud music while sitting inside the vehicle. Contact was made with the vehicle owner, and she was advised to turn the music off and go inside for the night, and she did so.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 9:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of fraud. The caller advised that a man had come into the business at approximately 6:35 p.m. and purchased a $490 gift card using six counterfeit $100 bills which were located at the end of shift register count. All six bills and a receipt were collected for evidence and surveillance video will be collected at a later date. The same person attempted to purchase another gift card using counterfeit bills at the Alliance Tractor Supply location but was turned away by the cashier. Nothing was reported to the Alliance Police Department and the status of the case is pending further investigation.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Olive Street at 7:26 p.m. Saturday for a barking dog complaint. The caller advised the resident’s dog had been outside all day barking. When officers arrived, the dog was completely quiet until it saw officers at the doorway and the owner advised that the dog was out for approximately 20 minutes and that they would bring him in soon.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 6:56 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers collected information from both parties and were advised that the dispute was verbal only and officers advised them to stay separated for the night.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 5:08 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with staff from the facility and were advised that two of the residents had been involved in a dispute that had become physical. Officers advised the facility of the options for dealing with the situation.
— Carol Simpson, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven southbound on South Cunningham Road by Jordan Clark, Sebring, while pulling out of a private parking lot at 4:43 p.m. Saturday.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fifth Street at 1:18 p.m. Saturday for a reported civil issue. Officers spoke with the parties involved, advising the caller that the issue was civil in nature and that he would have to speak with the courts about the issues he was concerned about.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Legacy Lane at 10:10 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stolen vehicle. The caller advised that an unknown person had taken a 2015 Dodge Challenger from the business overnight without their knowledge or permission. Officers gathered information about the vehicle to be entered into LEADS, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 10:50 p.m. Friday for a reported civil dispute. The caller was again advised of how to begin the eviction process and due to his intoxication level, it was suggested that he call his mother and stay with her for the night; however, he decided to stay home so he was advised to go upstairs and go to bed.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 9:08 p.m. Friday to assist the Alliance Police Department with an attempt to contact a possible resident. No contact was made, and the information was passed along.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East State Street at 9:06 p.m. Friday for a report of a person with a firearm. Officers found nothing out of the usual.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 6:21 p.m. Friday for a barking dog complaint. The dog was brought into the house.
— Kaleb Utt, 18, Salem, was cited for failure to control after his vehicle drove off the roadway while driving at excessive speeds. No injuries were reported.
— The school resource officer was advised by a parent that their child was possibly having issues with a couple of students at 2:16 p.m. Friday. The parents just wanted the matter documented in case the issue continues.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:13 p.m. Friday for a report of fraud. The caller had already created a report with the Social Security Administration Office and already had an identity theft packet.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 2:01 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that he had been told that his girlfriend’s daughter was dropped off at a neighbor’s house due to the dad being called into work. When officers arrived, the juvenile was with the father not the neighbor.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 1:35 p.m. Friday to assist Children Services. Officers stood by while contact was made.
— Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of Benton Road at 1:31 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that she had not spoken with her mother in several days and that she works at the business. Officers spoke with the owner who advised that the person in question does work there but was at the bank. The owner also advised that there are family issues going on and that’s why they are not returning the caller’s calls.
