Salem
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:16 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and everything checked okay. Officers will follow up with the owner of the building at a later time.
— Eric Jordan, 47, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after at 9:56 p.m. Thursday. The owner of the vehicle responded to recover it, and the owner was advised that if the unlicensed driver continued using the vehicle they would be charged with wrongful entrustment.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 7:55 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious juvenile that frequents the area dressed in a doctor’s coat acting suspiciously. Officers advised them that since the juvenile appears after school hours the day shift would be notified to keep a watch for them.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 1:54 p.m. Monday for a report of a possibly stolen vehicle in a parking lot. The vehicle was not occupied at the time and officers checked the area for the driver but did not locate them. Officers notified the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and called for Sinsley’s Towing to respond and remove the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pershing Street at 12:50 p.m. Monday for a report of a small child in the roadway. Officers located the child behind their residence and due to a language barrier had dispatch contact an interpreter to assist officers on scene. A copy of the report will be sent to children services for review.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Madison Avenue at 11:48 a.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. Officers spoke with a family member of the owner who was made aware of the complaint, and he advised they would notify them.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 11:12 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the parties involved, determining that the matter was a verbal dispute with no physical violence reported, and advised them of how to deal with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 6:31 a.m. Monday for a noise complaint. Officers did not hear any music.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 5:24 a.m. Monday for a report of low hanging wires. Officers found them to be cable wires which were hanging low over the sidewalk with no risk of vehicles touching them.
— Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 1:28 a.m. Monday observed a person in Sebo Stadium after hours. Officers advised them of the stadium hours, and they left without issue.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Second Street at 8:22 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal mischief. The caller advised that several small children were inside the playground leaving trash everywhere and pulling signs off the fence. Officers observed two signs on the ground and trash scattered throughout the area. The children’s mother was present and advised that the trash needed cleaned up and that she and her children needed to leave the area.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 6:12 p.m. Sunday for a reported runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her son had left the residence southbound toward Kelly Park. Officers checked the area, locating the juvenile who refused to stop, running into the woods carrying a steak knife which his mother advises he uses to cut himself. A short time later officers found him in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue, having cut his forearm with the knife. The fire department and EMT responded, and the juvenile was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Street at 1:57 p.m. Sunday for a report of juveniles trespassing at a building. Officers located and identified the juveniles in the front yard, advising them that the property has posted to stay off and that they could be charged for trespassing. Officers checked the building and confirmed it was secure prior to departing.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 12:06 Sunday for a report of criminal trespassing. Officers were advised of two people rummaging through a dumpster and did not have permission from the owner to do so. Officers spoke with people advising them of the complaint and sent them on their way.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 11:16 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic violence. Officers were directed to Kelly Park by neighbors and located two people hiding in the brush, speaking with both parties and finding nothing physical had occurred. The fire department and EMT responded to check on them and both parties, Joshua Simmons, 20, Sebring, and Jayden Underation, 18, Sebring, were taken into custody charged with underage consumption and transported them to the police department for booking prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive at 8:44 p.m. Saturday for a reported runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her daughter had left the house through her bedroom window and that she could not find her. The sheriff’s office advised that a Cunningham Road resident outside the city had found the juvenile walking through their yard. Officers advised the caller that they could go pick up her daughter.
— A juvenile responded to the police department at 8:30 p.m. Saturday who advised they were supposed to be picked up at their residence, but nobody had come. Officers spoke with a parent who advised they would come pick them up.
Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 12:51 a.m. Sunday to the homeless shelter on state Route 45, Salem Township, regarding a female causing a disturbance. Dispatch advised the female left the property and was walking northbound on state Route 45. The deputy made contact and she was given a courtesy ride back to the shelter and advised of the complaint.
— Suicidal threats were reported at 2:15 a.m. Saturday on Saltwell Road, Center Township, with the deputy advised the original caller contacted Cuyahoga County, who then contacted Lisbon police, who then transferred the call to the sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to two residents who were unaware of the complaint and advised no one with the name for the welfare check resided there.
— A prowler was reported at 12:05 a.m. Saturday on a St. Jacob-Logtown Road property in Center Township. Deputies checked the property and the area and did not find the person. The caller, though, had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody and to the county jail. The report did not list the caller’s name.
— A woman on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, reported at 10:17 p.m.
Friday that her neighbor has been harassing her for months and was standing at the property line yelling at her and filming her. She was advised how to obtain a protection order.
— A woman on Rochester Road, West Township, reported at 6:37 p.m. Friday that her neighbor’s dog was in her yard growling. A deputy spoke to the neighbor by phone who advised he will get the dog, who keeps jumping the fence.
— Loud music was reported at 4:29 p.m. Friday on Lake Point Drive, Knox Township.
— A woman on Buffalo Road, West Township requested a report at 5:22 p.m. Thursday that her neighbor’s dogs were harassing her farm animals.
— Deputies responded at 1:52 a.m. Thursday to Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, for a report of a possible prowler when the caller said the person possibly left. Deputies checked the area and found no one, then spoke with the caller who advised his vehicle alarm went off and he immediately got up and checked the vehicle and the back yard. No one was located, but he noticed his rear mud room door open and unlocked. He said he has been having several people acting odd in the area recently. The area was checked again with no one found.
— A man on Bye Road, Middleton Township, reported at 6:34 p.m. May 7 that he wanted another male to move off of his property. He was advised of the eviction process and the other male was advised to stay in his area of the property.
— A domestic dispute was reported at 4:57 p.m. May 7 on Ridge Road, West Township, with a deputy dispatched.
— A criminal damage report was taken at 4:53 p.m. May 7 at a residence on state Route 154, Elkrun Township.
— Loose cows were reported at 4:21 p.m. May 7 on a Beard Road, Unity Township property. A deputy checked the area, with no contact with any cows.
— A woman on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, called at 4:10 p.m. May 7 to request a report on file that her dog did not bite her mother, which she is claiming.
— A man on Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township, called at 3:56 p.m. May 7 to report a burglary at his residence with medication stolen.
–Deputies were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. May 7 to Bayard Road, Knox Township, for a person making suicidal threats. Homeworth Fire Department was on the scene and Sebring EMS transported the person to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.
— A breaking and entering report was taken by a deputy at 5:43 p.m. May 6 on Hull Road, Wayne Township.
Highway Patrol
— Heidi Rafferty, of Alice Street in East Palestine, was not cited at 3:40 p.m. April 30 after a single-vehicle crash on Columbiana-Waterford Road. According to the report, Rafferty had been driving an East Palestine school bus northbound when she went to turn left into a private driveway, went off the right side of Columbiana-Waterford Road and hit a ditch. Neither Rafferty or the more than 16 student passengers were injured. Although troopers faulted her for the crash, they declined to charge her as she had been following an order by police when she crashed.
— Jaden Powell, of Bellflower Road in Minerva, was cited at 2:38 p.m. May 1 in Fairfield Township for failure to yield the right of way when turning left. Powell was northbound on Beeson Mill Road and made a left turn onto state Route 14 and was struck by Marchella Witherow, of Steubenville Pike Road in Salineville.
— Jose Manual, of Donna, Texas, was cited at 1:28 a.m. May 4 in Madison Township for failure to control in Madison Township. Manual was eastbound on state Route 154 and drove off the right side of the road, going down an embankment and partially overturning on his left side.
— Jacqueline Willis, of Stow, was cited for failure to yield the right of way when turning left at 10:45 a.m. May 10 in Knox Township. Willis was southbound on Westville Lake Road when she failed to yield at a stop sign and struck Jason Edwards, of Valley Road in Minerva, as he was traveling westbound on Georgetown Road.
— Layna Sanor, of Kettering Road in East Rochester, was cited at 4:07 p.m. May 11 in West Township for illegally traveling left of center. She was westbound on Weaver Road when she went over the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Daniel Bush, of Stow, which was coming the opposite direction.
— No citations have been issued as troopers continue to investigate a May 10 crash involving a Hanoverton woman. Mary Alice Sigler was stopped at a stop sign at Stroup Road and U.S. Route 30, when a driver of an unknown vehicle traveled left of center, made a left turn onto Stroup and struck Sigler’s vehicle before continuing on. The suspected hit-run vehicle was described as an older dark blue pickup (possibly a GMC or Chevrolet) with unknown damage to the left front end.
