Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies assisted Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers with an animal-related call at 4:11 a.m. Monday on Kirk Road, Fairfield Township, assisting with herding a few cows found in the roadway back into the pasture from where they came. The owner of the cows was notified they were returned.
— A man on Darlington Road, Middleton Township, reported at 7:20 p.m. May 15 that vehicles were racing up and down the roadway. A deputy checked the area of Darlington Road, but didn’t find anything.
— At 6:49 p.m. May 15, a deputy was dispatched to Depot Street, Rogers for a juvenile-related report.
— A deputy responded at 5:35 p.m. May 15 to Watt Street, West Township for an open 911 line, speaking with the homeowner, who said everything was fine.
— A dog was reported running loose at 4:48 p.m. May 15 on Rochester Road, West Township, but while a deputy was en route, dispatch advised the dog was hit by a vehicle and died.
— A deputy was called to the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in Lisbon at 1:04 p.m. May 15 for an accident report in the student parking lot where a male student said he was parked when a female student collided with the right side of his car, causing damage to the right rear fender, rear door and front door. She was attempting to park when she misjudged the distance between the vehicles. Her vehicle had damage to the left front bumper and left front fender.
— A case of fraud was reported at 7:31 p.m. May 14 by a man on Y & O Road, Madison Township, who said he gave his name, date of birth and last four numbers of his social security number to an unknown person on the Internet who was claiming to be from the Internet fraud division.
— A woman on Rochester Road, West Township, reported at 6:22 p.m. May 14 that her neighbor’s dogs are always loose and he’s revving his truck engine. She said the dogs caused damage to her husband’s vehicle by jumping on it and under it. Dispatch advised that the neighbor called in and said the woman came to his residence and was yelling at him. A deputy spoke to both of them and they were advised to have no contact with each other. Another woman called at 5:02 p.m. May 14 about the dogs running loose and the neighbor advised his dogs were back in the fenced area.
— Salem Regional Medical Center called at 10:55 p.m. May 13 to request a welfare check on a person on state Route 558, Salem Township, at Breezeway Mobile Manor. A deputy spoke to the person who said they needed to go back to the hospital. EMT EMS transported the person to Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem.
— A caller at 11:29 p.m. May 12 reported a civil issue regarding her residing with family on Glasgow Road who advised she is no longer welcome. A deputy advised her of her rights and attempted to call the family member who the caller was complaining about, but they did not answer.
— A deputy observing students leaving the Columbiana County Career & Technical Center in Lisbon at 2:35 p.m. May 12 was advised by a male student that he observed a female student collide with his pickup truck, causing damage. The deputy advised both drivers to exchange information and that he would do a report for their insurance companies.
— A man from Camelot Drive, Fairfield Township reported at 3:41 p.m. May 9 that he went to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles office to get his vehicle titled and they advised him the vehicle was stolen out of Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan.
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:49 p.m. May 6 for a criminal mischief report on Bayard Road, West Township. A summons was issued out of Columbiana County Municipal Court for criminal mischief against a suspect.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle had already left the area when officers arrived, and all appeared to be okay in the area.
— Officers on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 10:19 p.m. Monday observed a truck parked behind a closed business. Officers spoke with a woman who advised that she was dumpster diving and didn’t have permission from the business to be there. She was sent on her way.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:59 p.m. Monday for a reported dispute between sisters involving custody. The caller advised that she had been watching her nephew for days due to him not wanting to be near his mother and his sister was not there to retrieve her son; however, she had concerns about the juvenile’s wellness and wanted the matter documented for court purposes. The caller was advised that despite her not wanting the juvenile to go with his mother she needed to allow her sister to take him. The juvenile left with his mother and the caller was advised that the matter would be documented.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that an unknown man was on the property. Prior to officers’ arrival the caller advised the man left southbound on South Broadway Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the man.
— Officers responded to the first block of Court Drive at 7:04 p.m. Monday for a reported noise disturbance. Officers advised the person in question to turn down the music.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 5:47 p.m. Monday. They advised that while they were at a friend’s house a man discharged a shotgun into the air. Officers advised that a follow-up will be made with the person.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 4:19 p.m. Monday to follow up on a prior incident. Officers gathered information for documentation and will forward the information to appropriate sources as applicable.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 12:43 p.m. Monday for a report of a known man constantly calling the caller. Officers gathered information and subsequently attempted to contact the person in question to advise them to stop contacting the caller or criminal charges could result. Nobody answered but a detailed voice message was left for the individual advising them of the complaint and potential criminal consequences.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:38 p.m. Monday regarding a trespass complaint. The caller advised that there have been ongoing issues with a neighbor and advised an unknown man was at the neighbor’s house and walked onto their property. Officers spoke with the neighboring homeowner and the tenant to advised them of the complaint and attempt to identify the man in question, finding that they were lawn care contractor walking to check the property lines. Officers also advised the homeowner and tenant they were being criminally trespassed from the property.
— Officers took a report of criminal trespassing at the police department at 12:28 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that personal belongings were found on the property in the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue that belong to a man that was possibly homeless. Further investigation found the man to be a sex offender, and officers advised them to call back if the man returned and that an extra patrol would be provided in the area. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office was advised of the man possibly being in the area and will be following up with the sex offender registration issue.
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Oak Street at 7:57 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they were okay and just had their phone shut off.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 7:22 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that for some time people had been harassing and bullying their daughter and had driven by her and begun yelling at her and following her while she was walking home from school that day before being picked up by her mother. Officers spoke with one of the juvenile’s mother, who was unaware of the matter, and it will be turned over to the juvenile officer.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and West State Street at 6:12 p.m. Sunday for a complaint of panhandling. Officers located a father with their family attempting to get some monetary help for gas in order to head to North Carolina. They were advised they could not use a sign but were provided with assistance in getting gas and they left the area without issue.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 6:08 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen electric scooter. Officers returned the scooter which had been collected previously from a recovered property report.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 5:04 p.m. Sunday for a report of two missing children. The children were located soon after the officers arrived.
— Bruce Behner, Salem, was cited for OVI, and driving under suspension stemming from a traffic stop in the 700 block of West State Street at 4:17 p.m. Sunday.
— Officers spoke with a juvenile at the police department at 11:08 a.m. Sunday regarding a domestic dispute at a residence in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street. After speaking with the juvenile and his guardian both were afforded ways to deal with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Homewood Avenue at 9:35 a.m. Sunday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that she was receiving unwanted messages from an unknown person. Officers advised them to block the person and ignore any future calls. Officers attempted to contact the person in question with the number provided but were unable to do so.
— Officers assisted Perry Township officers with an OVI arrest at the police department at 3:39 a.m. Sunday. Officers stood by while they conducted a breath test.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and East Pershing Street at 10:41 p.m. Saturday for a report of a group of intoxicated people attempting to leave in a vehicle. Officers spoke with the people who called for a sober driver to take them home and officers stood by until the sober driver arrived.
