— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Sixth Street at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday for a report of reckless operation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle observing no signs of intoxication in the driver. The vehicle’s driver’s side windshield wiper was malfunctioning, which caused some vision issues for the driver due to rain.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that they heard tapping outside their apartment in the backyard. The perimeter of the apartment was checked and only a small animal was in the area.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located the vehicle, advising them to move it.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with the caller and officers determined the matter was a civil issue. Officers advised the caller that the man had to leave on his own or be evicted.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a patient who had run out of the hospital when they were mandated to stay. Officers spoke with the patient who then walked back into the emergency room for further medical treatment without incident.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:38 p.m. Wednesday for a report of menacing. The caller advised that a co-worker threatened to kill her during an incident at Fresh Mark. The co-worker was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for mental evaluation after safety staff called for an ambulance. The caller was provided with several voluntary statements and advised that she will return with her statement and any witnesses that will come forward with information. No physical altercation occurred, and a follow-up investigation will be conducted once statements are received.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday for a reported natural gas leak. Officers checked the area and no leaks were found.

— Darrel Baker, 64, Salem, was cited for a marked lanes violation after his vehicle struck a vehicle driven by James Gillis, 74, Washingtonville, while attempting to change lanes in the 2700 block of East State Street at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday.

— Officers spoke to the person at the police department at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday regarding issues at their apartment complex. The caller understood nothing criminal was occurring but wanted the matter documented and was advised of his options.

East Palestine

— Officers spoke to a resident on West Main Street at 8:41 a.m. on Wednesday who reported having issues with someone known to them.

— Officers conducted a welfare check at 9:52 on Tuesday on West Clark Street.

— Officers assisted New Waterford in locating a vehicle in which the driver yelled insults to a pedestrian on state Route 559 at 7:29 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver denied the incident.

— Officers spoke to a resident on West Martin Street at 3:32 p.m. on Tuesday who reported having issues with someone known to them.

— Officers spoke to a resident on Wood Street at 11:46 p.m. on Tuesday who reported ongoing issues with a neighbor.

— Officers responded to Lincoln Street to discuss a civil matter at 11:11 a.m. on Tuesday.

— Officer responded to East North Avenue to investigate alleged child neglect on Monday at 5:58 p.m. and arrested Paul Smith, no age provided, on an outstanding warrant.

— Officers responded at 4:27 p.m. to the Circle K on North Market on Sunday after an anonymous report that a male and female were engaged in a verbal altercation. Officers made contact with the subjects who denied any alteration or disturbance.

— Officers responded to West Main Street to a report of a vehicle blocking an alleyway at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday. The vehicle owner advised the alley in question is a private driveway. The matter is being investigated.

— Officers patrolling an area near West Martin Street at 7:32 p.m. on Saturday and made contact with a male who was in possession of a companion animal, a violation of his bond. Officers contacted the dog warden and the animals were removed from the residence.

— Officers spoke at 2:31 p.m. on Saturday to the parents of a juvenile who allegedly was riding his mini bike in the roadway on Wood Street. The parents and juvenile were advised to keep the bike off the road.

— Officers took a report from a resident on South Washington Street at 8:25 a.m. regarding possible fraud.

— Officers arrested Brian Eaton, no age or address given, after responding to an assault on N. James St at 7:38 a.m. on Saturday. The exact charges were not reported.

— Officers responded to West Martin Street to a report of unknown persons entering a residence at 8:49 p.m. Officers determined the subjects were permitted to be in the home.

— Officers responded to North Market Street at 11:30 a.m. on Friday to remove an individual from the premises.

— Officers spoke to a resident in McClure Avenue regarding a domestic situation at 7:06 p.m. on May 12.

— Officers assisted the village street department in blocking off West Taggart Street near Sumner Street due to downed telephone lines on May 12 at 4:58 p.m.

— Officers assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in locating the victim of a crime on West Martin Street at 3:10 p.m. on May 11.

— Officers responded to a single-car accident at 10:45 p.m. on French St. on May 11 and determined the driver, who had hit a tree, had a suspended license and an active warrant. Joseph Halfhill, no age or address given, was arrested.

— Officers received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Bacon Avenue at 12:54 p.m. on May 11. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers provided mutual aid for an auto accident on state Route 165 near the Pennsylvania border at 11:02 p.m on May 10.

— Officers arrested Linda Elliott, no age or address provided, following a traffic stop on Meadow Lane at 9:26 p.m. on May 10. Elliott was charged with drug paraphernalia after officers allegedly located a glass pipe inside a bag following a probable cause search with a K-9.

— Officers responded at 5:56 p.m. on May 10 at West North Avenue to a traffic complaint. The issue was resolved.

— Officers responded to Glenview Cemetery for a disturbance at 5:29 p.m. on May 10. Officers spoke to all parties involved and cleared the scene.

— Officers made contact with a pet owner who allegedly left their pet in a car at the Moose Lodge on Rebecca Street at 4:52 p.m. on May 10. Officers advised the individual about heat indexes and the potentially lethal impacts of leaving an animal in a vehicle.

— Officers spoke with an adult and juvenile who were at the West Taggert Street laundromat at 11:37 p.m. on May 9. The juvenile was advised he was in violation of the village curfew.

— Officers responded to Sprinklz on Top on North Market Street on May 9 at 10:44 p.m. to a disturbance. Officers made contact with the parties involved. During the investigation, Brain F. Buckley, no age or address provided, allegedly repeatedly failed to comply with officers and was arrested for obstructing official business. Buckley also allegedly resisted arrest, resulting in a physical altercation with officers.

Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy at 2:31 a.m. Wednesday came across a person in Rogers while on patrol and found him to be homeless after speaking with him. The deputy attempted to find him a place to stay for the night and after some help from the person, found him a relative to stay with for the night.

Columbiana

— A male subject reported at 9:31 p.m. May 16 that he lent a vehicle to a friend and she didn’t return it.

— Leeana Schumacher, of East Liverpool, was cited at 10:16 p.m. May 16 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop near state Route 7 and Metz Road.

— A female caller reported at 8:28 a.m. May 16 that she had been receiving strange calls at her phone number, including a call from a little girl asking for her dad that was left on voicemail. She was advised to block the number and report anything suspicious happening around their home.

— A female subject was formally trespassed at 11:31 a.m. May 14 from Wind Rose Apartments. If she returns, she will be arrested.

— Kaitlyn Bailey and John Parks III, both of Columbiana, were served at 8:04 a.m. May 14 with warrants for aggravated possession and transported to Columbiana County Jail. Columbiana County Children Services took custody of their five minor children.

— Stephanie Herstine, no address listed, was arrested at 11:24 pm. May 13 in the 46000 block of state Route 14 with an active warrant out of Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and was found to possess suspected narcotics.

— Taurean McCullough, of Youngstown, was cited at 10:33 p.m. May 13 into 300 block of North Main Street for driving under suspension.

— A private property crash was reported at 4:05 p.m. May 12 in the 300 block of North Main Street.

— Ross Chaplow, of Columbiana, was served at 8:36 p.m. May 11 with an active warrant and transported to Columbiana County Jail.

Leetonia

— Police responded at 7:22 p.m. May 15 to the 400 block of Pearl Street for a suspicious person. Upon contact with the caller, the subject identified himself as “from the electric company.” He was gone upon arrival but it is believed he was soliciting door-to-door without a permit.

— Police contacted the Leetonia school board office at 3:10 pm. May 16, after a panic alarm was activated. They advised it was a false alarm due to a battery failure with the system.

— A caller advised police at 5:36 p.m. May 15 of a solicitor without a permit going door-to-door on Bears Den Road. Upon contact, the subject was informed of his need for a permit, so he apologized and left.

— A loud music complaint was called in at 9:58 p.m. May 16 from the 200 block of Ridge Street. Upon arrival, the area was quiet.

— Another unpermitted door-to-door solicitor (this one for home remodeling) attracted police attention at 11:10 a.m. May 15 on Somer Street. He was advised to leave until he obtained the proper paperwork.

— An officer responded at 9:38 a.m. May 19 to the 200 block of Oak Street to investigate a noise complaint.

— Police were advised of a possible foot pursuit within a few hundred yards of the village limits on state Route 344 near Lisbon Canfield Road. A K-9 unit was tracking toward the Greenaway Trail. After checking the area, all units cleared with negative results.

— An officer investigated a barking dog complaint at 1:29 p.m. May 20 in the first block of Oak Street.

— A village employee reported seeing a small black bear at 2:07 p.m. May 20 while mowing at High and Oak streets. The sighting was reported to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Allen Road at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday for a possible medical call. Officers were advised that the woman in question had passed out but denied medical treatment.

— Officers responded to the area of West Pine Lake Road at 3:06 a.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person walking around a construction site. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Cunningham Road at 2:23 a.m. Tuesday for a residential fire. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to state Route 344 at 6:27 p.m. Monday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a report of a man who had stolen property then broken down on the side of the roadway before fleeing on foot. The passenger was later released and the Lisbon Police Department responded with a K-9 and officers assisted while deputies searched the area.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Stewart Road at 4:53 p.m. Sunday for a reported low hanging power line. Officers stood by until Ohio Edison arrived.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 12:39 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a juvenile that had also called a teacher with suicidal threats. Officers spoke with the mother of the juvenile, and it was determined that the juvenile was at her father’s residence in Portage County and both parents spoke to the juvenile who was found to be okay.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Depot Road at 1:22 p.m. Sunday for a reported noise complaint. Officers advised the person in question of the noise ordinance and provided them with a copy.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 12:22 a.m. Saturday for a vehicle. Officers spoke with the woman who was in possession of the vehicle advising her to contact the Columbiana Police Department.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Cunningham Road at 1:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of property damage by a motor vehicle. The caller advised that around 1 p.m. a dump truck attempted to turn around at the end of their driveway damaging the yard and a pole off the edge of the driveway. The caller advised that they only saw the vehicle for a split second as they were leaving the area but advised that the vehicle was red with a gray or black dump bed. No easily recognizable company or contact information were observed by the caller and officers photographed the damage.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 5:31 p.m. May 15 for a report of a suspicious person yelling and swearing at a business. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised that she had a medical issue and sometimes has trouble controlling herself. Officers spoke with the manager who advised that she was fine as long as she remained calm while shopping. The woman advised that she would control herself better next time.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Plymouth Place at 3:43 p.m. May 15 for a medical call. The caller advised that her neighbor was clearly unwell, and officers spoke with her, but she refused any treatment. Adult protective services were notified.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Pine Lake Road at 1:40 p.m. May 15 for a report of a dog killing chickens. The caller advised that a dog had barreled into the closed-gated chicken coop and was killing chickens. The dog killed two chickens that could be found and wounded two, and officers put one rooster down. Officers spoke with the owner of the dog who retrieved it and were told that this was the second incidence with the same dog and chickens. The homeowner of the chickens was not at home and the owner of the dog advised they would contact them.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 1:32 a.m. May 15 for a reported trespass complaint. Officers were advised that the person took off into the woods prior to their arrival. Officers located them and issued a trespass notice, advising that if they returned, they would be arrested.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Allen Road at 4:03 p.m. May 14 to assist the Perry Township Fire Department with a medical call. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
