Salem

— Officers responded to the first block of Court Drive at 5:32 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that her son was not listening and would not leave the park. Officers spoke with the juvenile, who became aggressive toward officers, but did go with his mother voluntarily once they calmed down.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:21 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers located the man in question and everything checked okay.

— Officers responded to the police department at 4:03 p.m. Sunday for a complaint. The caller advised that while attending his son’s graduation an officer working had prevented him from having any physical contact with his son and he was unable to get a photo with his son during or after the ceremony. The caller was advised that officers had no first-hand knowledge regarding his complaint or why it had occurred, but the matter would be documented and would be followed up on to learn more about the situation.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Benton Road at 2:47 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be trespassed. The person was not there, and officers advised the caller that they would need to speak with the property owner.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Continental Drive at 2:32 p.m. Sunday for a reported custody dispute. Officers spoke with the caller and advised that the report would be documented and that she could get a copy of it.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Sixteenth Street at 11:45 a.m. Sunday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers checked with several residents in the area and found nobody needing assistance. Dispatch attempted to call the number, but there was no answer.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 11:10 a.m. Sunday for a reported barking dog left in a residence. Officers checked the residence and only heard the dogs barking when attempting to make contact at the front door. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence but were able to make contact by phone. The owner of the dogs stated that a family member has been checking on the dogs multiple times a day.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Sixteenth Street at 9:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with a man at the front door of the residence who acknowledged that he and his girlfriend had been having a dispute and arguing but that neither had struck the other and invited officers inside. Officers spoke with both parties separately, and both advised that they had been arguing, and a struggle had ensued over a set of keys with no physical violence. Officers explained domestic violence laws and consequences to both individuals and advised them to give each other some space for the time being and to work out their differences later. They were also advised that should they find themselves arguing again later they could call the police for assistance before it escalates and an officer would return to try and help them reach a peaceful resolution.

Perry Township

— Officers on patrol in the area of Egypt Road at 2:41 a.m. Monday observed a vehicle parked at Cry Baby Bridge. Officers advised all occupants of the trespassing signs and to vacate the area.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East 11th Street at 9:36 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that her ex-mother-in-law has been sending multiple unwanted messages, and she does not want to have any contact with her. The caller was advised to block them and given information on how to apply for a protection order.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 8:13 p.m. Saturday to assist Salem officers with a person sending multiple threats and harassing messages to a person in the city. Officers attempted contact at the residence, but they refused to answer the door.

— Officers responded to the 13000 block of Benton Road at 11:45 a.m. Saturday to attempt to locate a juvenile that was reported missing from the city of Salem. Once in the area officers located the juvenile, who had property from nearby homes in his possession. After Salem officers took custody of the juvenile, officers returned the property to the owners.

— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 and Salem Grange Road at 3:25 a.m. Saturday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Van Buren Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Friday for a reported animal complaint. Officers spoke with the owner of the dog and advised her that the dog could not run loose in the neighborhood. The owner was also advised that if the dog got loose again, she would be charged.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Friday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that the neighbor’s dog was surrounding their car, and his wife was unable to get out of the vehicle. The neighbor, Kacey Rohaley, 56, Salem, has been previously warned to keep the dog on her property and was cited for the same issues on May 13, and was cited for dog at large again.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of West State Street at 6:57 a.m. Friday for a reported vehicle on fire. Officers found the vehicle to be fully engulfed when they arrived, and the caller advised that they were traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 62 when he noticed smoke coming from his vehicle and pulled into the parking lot and jumped out just before the vehicle became fully engulfed. The Perry Township Fire Department extinguished the vehicle, and Kaiser Towing removed the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue for a reported assault. Officers spoke with both parties who advised that they had pushed each other and put each other into a headlock. Officers found no signs of any marks nor any type of injury. Officers warned both parties to desist in their disorderly conduct, or charges could follow.

East Palestine

— A resident reported at 7:33 a.m. on Friday that someone had thrown an object through a window on East Martin Street property.

— Officers responded at 7:30 p.m. to North Market Street on Thursday to a report of a tree down. The tree was cleared from the roadway.

— Officers responded at 5:59 p.m. on Thursday to Alice Street to an ongoing juvenile issue. Officers were able to resolve the issue.

— Officers observed a vehicle trunk open at 1:06 a.m. on North Market. Upon making contact with the owner who advised the trunk was opened accidentally.

— Officers arrested Melissa Blake at 8:53 p.m. on Wednesday after she turned herself in on a warrant through Adult Parole Authority.

— Officers received a report from a resident on West Main Street at 8:36 p.m. on Wednesday regarding ongoing issues with a person known to them.
