Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies at 3:21 a.m. Monday checked an unsecured bus at Beaver Local, state Route 7, Lisbon. Due to an earlier incident that evening regarding a person fleeing, it was found to be suspicious. Deputies checked the immediate and surrounding buses and found everything secure.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 at 2:42 a.m. Sunday for a reported woman walking along the roadway. Officers checked throughout the township and did not observe the person in question.

— Officers on patrol observed a vehicle being driven by a non-valid driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver, Mark Thomas, 43, Salem, was cited for driving without a license and the passenger Angela Thomas, 30, Salem, was cited for wrongful entrustment. The vehicle was removed by Biddle’s Towing.

— Officers checked the area of North Lincoln Avenue near Seventeenth Street at 11:42 p.m. Friday for a report of an elderly woman walking in the roadway. Officers checked the area and parts of other jurisdictions but were unable to locate them.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 10:08 p.m. Friday for a reported breaking and entering. Officers advised that the homeowners weren’t home and had observed a man on their camera and believed that they entered the residence through an unlocked door. Officers checked the inside of the residence, but nobody was located.

— Officers responded to the 36000 block of Perry Grange Road at 6:48 p.m. Friday to assist other agencies with an arrest.

— Officers responded to the area of East Pidgeon Road near South Lincoln Avenue at 12:50 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible intoxicated driver who was heading westbound on East Pidgeon Road. Officers spoke with the driver at their residence, advising them of the complaint, and didn’t observe any signs of impairment while speaking with the man.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:42 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person at Grandview Cemetery. She advised that the morning prior she had seen a suspicious man walking by the chapel who she felt was following her. No further information was available at that time.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Benton Road at 6:36 p.m. Thursday for a reported custody issue. The caller advised that her two sons were with her mother who was refusing to bring them home. Officers spoke with the mother who advised that she wasn’t keeping the kids from their mother and for her to come get them and there were no further issues at that time.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:55 a.m. Thursday to assist EMT with a patient having a mental crisis. Officers stood by and assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Pidgeon Road at 6 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on an elderly man. Officers spoke with the man, who was slightly confused but able to provide officers with his information and address, and officers transported him to his residence.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers were invited inside and advised by a resident that the two fighting had left together with an unknown destination. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourteenth Street at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers were advised that they couldn’t back their car out of the driveway because of where his neighbor had his truck parked. Officers advised that the neighbor was not in violation of any laws, and there was plenty of space to back out of the road. Officers also spoke with the neighbor, advising that they were not in violation, but their neighbors asked if he would move his truck.

— Bobbi Smith, 49, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his westbound vehicle on East Pidgeon Road struck a vehicle driven by Christoper Delligatti, 35, Salem, in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday. Both drivers refused medical attention.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:24 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers resolved the matter.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fifth Street at 7:18 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers were initially unable to contact them but a short time later the caller advised the person was contacted and everything was fine.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 7:04 p.m. Sunday regarding an iPad belonging to their son that needed to be returned. Officers recovered the item, and it will be held at the police department until a relative comes to pick it up.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:17 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal trespass. The person in question was advised that they were trespassed by the store and they refused to receive a copy of the trespass form.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:33 p.m. Sunday for a report of an unknown person threatening them. The caller advised that while they were walking a man in a van pulled alongside him and threatened him before leaving the area. Officers provided him with options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 4:32 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. Officers spoke with the person in question and asked them to move along.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 3:03 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possibly intoxicated person. The caller also advised that an underage person was being served alcohol in the establishment and refusing to leave. When officers arrived, staff were unaware of any such claim and the only person at the bar was an elderly man. The complaint was found to be unfounded.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:58 p.m. Sunday for a reported speak with officer report. The caller advised that they believed an unknown person had been inside their residence without her permission. Officers advised the caller of the options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 1:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that the vehicle was given a warning yesterday and had not moved and wanted the matter documented. Officers spoke with family members of the owner who advised that they would speak with the owner.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 12:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal damage to a motor vehicle. Officers will check for video footage of the event and spoke with potential witnesses.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 12:37 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a person had parked a vehicle in his driveway sometime during the night and had not returned for it. Officers advised the caller that if they wanted to have the vehicle towed, they could.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West State Street at 12:25 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised that they were concerned someone may be stealing from the business. Officers advised the caller of the options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:13 p.m. Sunday for a reported medical emergency to assist with traffic control. Officers found that there was no issue.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Oak Street at 7:50 a.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers advised them of the options, and the report would be documented.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:53 a.m. Sunday for a reported drug overdose. Officers located the man on the floor of the kitchen and administered two doses of Narcan, and the man woke up and was transported to the hospital. Officers located contraband and it was properly destroyed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 2 a.m. Sunday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised they were receiving random calls and texts from an unknown number claiming that he needed to return and re-enlist in the Army. He advised that he knew this was false and stated so to the caller and later received a text apologizing saying it was a prank. Officers attempted to contact the person, but it went straight voicemail.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:24 a.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that he was being followed and harassed by his estranged wife. As he was speaking, they also pulled up to the department and explained their side of the story. Both sides agreed to cease all contact until their court date. The caller was advised to contact the department if he had any further issues.

— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 12:42 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. Several male juveniles were seen in the park after hours and advised that they were playing hid and seek. Officers advised them of park hours, and they left the area.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 11:31 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault at an assisted living facility. The caller advised that a resident threw a sandwich at her during an argument and threatened to assault her, which caused another resident to ram her in the leg with her wheelchair. No injury was suffered, and no charges were requested. Officers spoke to the man who agreed to settle down as he is on limited stay. The woman was medically removed by administrators and was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Boardman for treatment.

— Officers on patrol in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 11:09 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that a person is always threatening to file charges against him. Officers advised the caller that nothing had been filed at this time and to stay away from the person.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East State Street and North Union Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Saturday observed a reckless operator and conducted a traffic stop on it as it nearly struck another driver. The vehicle did stop, and once the motorist in front of him moved, he fled a short distance and stopped again. The driver, Jonathan Crow, 28, Salem, was intoxicated and was eventually taken into custody, transported to the police department for processing before transport to the Columbiana County Jail charged with OVI, reckless operations, failure to comply and obstructing official business. Sinsley’s Towing removed the vehicle from the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 10:27 p.m. Saturday for a reported fireworks complaint. Officers observed the person in question be lighting off more fireworks and advised them of when fireworks could legally be set off and of suitable times.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 10 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with all parties involved and took photos as evidence while further information was collected. The aggressor left prior to the officers’ arrival and searched the area but were unable to locate the person. Charges will be filed accordingly for the person whose name was not listed, and they were advised to contact them if anything was needed.

— Officers assisted an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper with an OVI arrest at 8:32 p.m. Saturday. Officers stood by while the trooper conducted his investigation until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street at 7:26 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator on a bike. The caller advised that the person was riding her bike and disobeying all traffic control devices. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 7:09 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person lying in the grass. Officers spoke with the person, who was found to be intoxicated but okay, and he was given a courtesy transport home.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Penn Avenue at 6:02 p.m. Saturday for a reported person on probation who was allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel of a car. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as they attempted to leave. Officers removed the person Devin Earich, 30, Salem, from the vehicle and following field sobriety testing took them into custody charged with OVI and driving under suspension. Officers transported them back to the police department where they were processed and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 5:30 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township with a traffic stop.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 4:56p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the person involved and determined the matter to be a verbal dispute with nothing physical occurring. The male half advised they were leaving for the remainder of the evening.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:33 a.m. Saturday for a reported animal complaint. Officers located the vehicle in question and found the windows to be partially down. Officers checked the animals and found that they did not appear to be in any type of distress.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Sixth Street at 12:31 p.m. Saturday for a reported parking complaint. Officers were advised that a vehicle had not moved in two months, and officers located the vehicle which had no prior reports on it, and a red warning tag was placed on the vehicle. Officers located a phone number for the owner and attempted to contact them but were unable to.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a reported 911hang-up call transferred from the Austintown Police Department. Officers found that the address given did not exist, and there was no call back number.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:03 a.m. Saturday to report a stolen vehicle. The caller advised that she had parked her vehicle in the 500 block of East State Street, and it was gone when she returned. The vehicle was entered into LEADS.
