Sheriff’s Office

— A harassment report was taken by a deputy dispatched at 9:46 p.m. Thursday on Kelly Park Road, Fairfield Township.

— An open 911 line was reported at 5:35 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Drive, Hanover Township. A deputy checked the area, but there was no contact with anyone at the residence or in the area.

— A juvenile-related incident was reported at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday at Meadow Wood Drive, Butler Township. The report was sent to Child Protective Services.

— A man from Lisbon reported at 8:28 p.m. Wednesday that he and his wife were at his grandfather’s residence on Miller Road, Fairfield Township when he and his father got into an argument and his father pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. Another relative called the sheriff’s office and reported his brother did not pull out a gun and point it at anyone and that the man from Lisbon was causing the disturbance and they don’t want him back on the property. All parties were advised how to obtain a protection order.

— A welfare check was requested at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday on a man on McCracken Road, Salem Township due to the caller not being able to make contact with him. While a deputy was en route, dispatch reported the man contacted the caller.

— Deputies were dispatched at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday to Hillview Drive, Hanover Township for a domestic violence report. Travis Whaley, 54, Hillview Drive, Hanoverton, was taken into custody for domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County Jail. According to court records, he’s facing a pretrial Aug. 4 for the charge for allegedly slamming a woman to the floor.

— A doctor’s office in Columbiana requested at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday that a deputy make contact with a man on Valley Road, Butler Township. The deputy made contact with the man.

— A man on state Route 558, Salem Township reported at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday that a male arrived at his residence in a white Toyota SUV with South Carolina plates attempting to sell aerial pictures of his property, which he declined.

— Deputies were dispatched at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday to Clarks Mill Road, Washington Township, for a person having mental health issues. Lifeteam EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool.

— A man on Columbia Street, Middleton Township reported at 10:41 p.m. July 19 that his juvenile daughter had multiple friends at the residence and an unknown female was trying to fight everyone. She left in a vehicle and deputies were advised they were no longer needed.

— A man on Jersey Ridge Road, Salem Township requested at 9:58 p.m. July 19 that a deputy advise a woman from Columbiana to stay off of his property. A deputy spoke with her and she was advised, per the man, to not come onto his property. At 9:09 p.m., she had requested a welfare check on her 9-year-old daughter who she was unable to contact at the child’s father’s residence on Jersey Ridge Road, Salem Township. A deputy spoke with the child, who was fine.

— A woman in Newark, Del. requested a welfare check at 7:46 p.m. July 19 on her father, Eastlake Road, Hanover Township, due to her receiving an emergency SOS from his cell phone. A deputy spoke with him, learning he was having issues with his cell phone.

— The Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 7:42 p.m. July 19 requested a deputy make contact with a man on Slater Road, Butler Township, regarding property that belongs to him. A deputy made contact with him.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:26 p.m. July 19 to the area of McDonald’s, state Route 45, Center Township, for a person running with no shirt on yelling they are trying to torture me. A deputy spoke with the person, who was fine. There were no issues.

— A deputy responded at 11:31 p.m. July 16 to the area of Bell Road, Elkrun Township regarding a suspicious person, who when contacted was confused about where they were. The deputy spoke to all parties involved and the person was later checked by EMS due to a possible medical situation. EMS transported the person to a hospital at the request of the person. The person was told not to return to that property.

Salem

— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Second Street at 4:06 a.m. Friday for a report of debris in the roadway. The debris was a large bag of trash which officers picked it up and threw it away in a nearby dumpster.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 12:58 a.m. Friday for a report of limbs down. The street department was contacted to remove it.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 9:04 p.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that the neighbor had made threats toward him while he was standing in the driveway. Officers spoke with the neighbor who admitted to making threats but advised that he believed the caller was looking through the fence at his grandkids. The caller did not want to pursue anything relating to the threats and both parties were advised to handle any further incidents and not engage with each other.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 8:24 p.m. Thursday for a reported domestic in progress. The male half was gone prior to officers’ arrival and the caller advised that she and her husband had been in a verbal altercation in the basement of the home which turned physical when he kicked her cell phone which then struck her in the bridge of the nose and the left eye socket. A small laceration was observed on the bridge of their nose, and they requested to be transported to the hospital for treatment. A follow-up investigation will be conducted with both parties.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 8:11 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man with an outstanding warrant. Contact was attempted for several minutes but could not be made.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 6:29 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that she believed someone had killed her plants.

— Spoke to a person at the police department at 5:02 p.m. Thursday regarding an ongoing matter with an ex-boyfriend. They advised that their ex has been coming to their workplace and has been texting them non-stop and leaving notes at their residence. Officers advised them of their options.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue at 4:38 p.m. Thursday for a report of possible squatters in a vacated home. The caller advised that glass was observed from a broken window. Officers searched the structure and found it to be clear but did observe items indicating that squatters have been staying in the house. Officers secured the structure and will provide an extra patrol in the area.

— Betty Glynn, 88, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her westbound vehicle on West Pershing Street failed to yield at the stop sign, striking a vehicle driven northbound on South Howard Avenue by Candraballi Deonarine, 77, at 3:13 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of North Howard Avenue at 1:38 p.m. Thursday observed graffiti in several locations.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 11:28 a.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that three juveniles appeared to be damaging property. Officers checked the area but did not locate any damage nor juveniles. Video footage from the stadium was reviewed and also showed no damage.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Park Avenue and Maple Street at 8:44 a.m. Thursday observed a man in the area who had an active warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Benjamin Wallace, 37, Salem, who was detained and once the warrant was confirmed they were transported to the Columbiana County Jail without incident.

Columbiana

— A private property crash was reported at 5:12 p.m. July 15 in the 100 block of North Main Street.

— Vincent Boerio, of Columbiana was cited at 10:40 a.m. Thursday for speeding in the 1400 block of Columbiana Lisbon Road.

— A male subject reported at 7:23 p.m. July 18 that some golf clubs had been stolen in the 500 block of Fairfield Avenue.

Lisbon

— Officers observed a vehicle lose control and hit the curb at 11:08 p.m. on July 11. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle which took off at a high rate of speed. Officers chased the vehicle through the village and to state Route 45 where the vehicle became inoperable and came to a stop. The driver, Zachary R. Halfhill, no age or address given, was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, failure to control, red light violation, lighted lights, failure to stop after an accident and reckless operation.

— Officers responded to the Methodist Church on East Washington Street for a report of a raccoon trapped inside of a dumpster July 8 at 11:26 p.m. Officers placed a wooden pallet inside of the dumpster and after a short period of time, the raccoon was able to exit the dumpster safely.

— Officers responded at 10:17 p.m. on July 7 to North Market Street for a report of an intoxicated male stumbling on the sidewalk. Officers spoke to the male and determined that he was not intoxicated. Officers cleared without further incident.

— Officers responded at 3:23 p. on July 6 to East Lincoln Way for one to be removed. The male was found to reside there and the caller was advised that she would need to evict him.

— Officers responded to the Columbiana County Fairgrounds at 9:49 p.m. on July 3 to the parking lot for a report of a female slapping a juvenile in the face. No foul play was found.

— Officers responded on July 2 at 8:07 p.m. to North Market Street for a neighbor dispute. Officers spoke to the complainant who advised his neighbors were speeding through the alleyway and blocking his driveway. Officers then spoke to the other party involved who advised they would slow down and not block the driveway. Officers cleared without further incident.

— Officers responded to West Washington Street for a trespass complaint at 11:08 p.m. on July 2. Officers made contact with the offender and advised them that they were trespassed and to not come back. Officers cleared without further incident.

— Officers responded to Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon on Vista Drive to report a suspicious person at 6:34 a.m. on July 1. Workers of this facility stated that a man walked in the doors asking to have an X-ray done and then left the building. Officers patrolled the property but were unable to locate the man. Officers cleared without further incident.
