Highway Patrol

— George Hein, of St. Jacobs Logtown Road in Columbiana, was cited at 9:01 a.m. July 24 in Center Towship for failure to yield the right of way, after pulling out from a private driveway into the path of Robyn Bellar, of Monroe Avenue in Salem, as she was southbound on St. Jacobs Logtown Road.

— Angela Smith, of Lower Elkton Road in Columbiana, was cited at 3:15 p.m. July 21 in Elkton Township for failure to control, after running her vehicle off state Route 517 into a guardrail. — Nathan Roush, state Route 170 in East Palestine, was cited at 2:38 a.m. July 19 in Fairfield Township for failure to control, after driving off the road while eastbound on state Route 558, hitting a ditch, culvert, milepost sign and mailbox before re-entering the road and going over the center line and going off the westbound side of the road. According to the patrol narrative, Roush allegedly admitted to consuming three beers prior to the crash, which may be alcohol-related. Charges may be pending based on test results.

Leetonia

— A resident of the 200 block of Oak Street reported at 3:52 p.m. July 22 on station that he suspects someone is stealing his mail.

— A red 28-inch mountain bike was found at 7:09 a.m. July 24 near Butcher Road and Washington Street and taken to the police station for safe-keeping.

— An intoxicated elderly man was given a courtesy transport at 11:38 p.m. July 23 from the American Legion, while an officer was conducting a building check.

Salem

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 1:59 a.m. Wednesday for a report of harassment. Officers reviewed security footage and pictures, but nobody was observed.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that two women were running around causing a disturbance. Officers were unable to locate them.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that a known man was on the property who had been previously trespassed from the business in 2022. Officers took the man, Ryan Thompson, 33, Salem, into custody for criminal trespass and transported him to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers responded to the 1400 block of Oak Street at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday for a report of people who had become aggressive towards pool staff. No physical threats were made but staff wanted them trespassed. Officers attempted to contact them but were unsuccessful.

–Officers on patrol in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday observed a man with an active arrest warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Jason Mullins, 41, Salem, taking him into custody and transporting him to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers on patrol in the 1800 block of East State Street at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday located a vehicle with a stolen plate. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the owner advised that only the front plate was stolen. Officers advised them to contact the sheriff’s office to have them fix the entry of the plate that was stolen.

–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a report of solicitors. Officers advised them that they needed a permit, and they left the area.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that the person in question left before officers arrived.

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday and stood by briefly while a custodial parent picked up their daughter.

–Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 1:02 p.m. Tuesday for a reported assault. The caller’s mother was asked to go to his residence to gather shoes for his two children and while they were at the residence they got into an argument with the grandmother which turned physical. No visible marks were observed by officers and the incident will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

–Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Snyder Road at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on people in a stopped vehicle. Officers checked the length of Snyder Road and South Ellsworth Avenue but did not locate them.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday to assist the housing department. Officers were advised of individuals living inside a condemned residence and officers attempted contact with the individuals but were advised by neighbors that nobody was there. Officers could hear a radio or television playing and observed a dog barking inside.

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 10:02 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the mother of the juvenile in question who advised that there was possibly an issue in Lisbon, but it was being looked into.

–Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Fourth Street at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person, who appeared normal, and officers advised them of the complaint and to leave the area. –The police chief responded to the 900 block of East Perry Street at 9:34 a.m. Tuesday to assist the Housing Inspector with condemning a residence. Two individuals were located at the residence and were advised that they were only permitted in the residence to remove personal belongings. One of the occupants was visiting and advised not to be on the property and the resident had removed most of his belongings and was offered treatment services.

–Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 6:29 a.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers assisted the fire department and EMT with getting the patient transferred to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Perry Township

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 1:37 a.m. Monday for a report of a juvenile running around. Officers spoke with the juvenile and the parent.

–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Conser Drive at 6:50 p.m. Sunday for a report 911 hang up call. Officers spoke with the resident who advised that call was accidental.

–Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 6:02 p.m. Sunday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.

–Officers blocked off the roadway for the Salem Fire Department at the intersection of Snyder Road at 3:33 p.m. Sunday. Officers stood by until the roadway could be opened.

–Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourteenth Street at 2:40 p.m. Friday for a reported neighbor dispute over parking. Officers did not observe any parking violations and advised both parties that there were no parking violations occurring. The callers were also advised that the vehicle in question was not illegally parked.

–Officers on patrol in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 3:54 a.m. July 24 observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen vehicle. Officers advised that the vehicle had recently been painted blue and the vin covered. The plated was confirmed as stolen and through the course of the investigation George Faulkner Jr., 38, East Palestine, was arrested for receiving stolen property and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of Elberon Avenue at 11:33 p.m. July 23 for a report of women having trouble breathing. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

–Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:36 p.m. July 22 for a reported unruly juvenile. The caller advised that there was an ongoing issue with her 11-year-old grandson taking money out of her purse, taking her phone, and purchasing items without permission. Officers spoke briefly with the child and the caller, their mother, and the caller, and advised that a report would be filed and to contact the juvenile court for unruly charges.
