Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:57 a.m. Friday for a reported assault. The caller advised that they had been assaulted the night prior between approximately 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. by a known person who had begun yelling at her due to past issues when they entered the business. The caller advised that she had told the person to get away from her and while they initially had, they returned about 10 minutes later and began trying to provoke an altercation before allegedly grabbing the caller by the throat in a choking manner and attempting to throw them to the floor. The person was told by an employee they were no longer welcome and left. The caller did not sustain injury and had no marks but advised that they wanted to pursue charges. Officers obtained a written statement from the caller and will follow up with the establishment to attempt to obtain video and identify a possible witness to the altercation before sending the case for review for possible charges.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 10:05 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the resident who advised that they were fine, and officers advised them that their son had been trying to contact him.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Perry Street at 1:04 a.m. Friday for a report of a gas oven being left on in the kitchen for about an hour. The caller was upset as it was an accident and his roommate agreed but an argument ensued due to their lack of attention. The fire department responded to assist in clearing the home of the gas smell and checking the natural gas connection.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 10:59 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised a suspicious vehicle had been following her since Alliance and had followed her into a parking lot and circled the lot before leaving. A description of the vehicle was given, and officers checked the area but were unable to locate it.
— Officers responded to the police department at 6:58 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil issue. The caller advised that he was working for a local business but had not received his most recent check. He was advised to fill out a W9 form in order for his current paycheck to be released per his employer, and officers advised him to either seek counsel or return a completed form.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 5:25 p.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. Officers located the person and advised him he had to leave the property and could face criminal charges if he returned. They advised they understood and left the property.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 5:05 p.m. Thursday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that their dog had gotten out that morning and they did not have time to look for it as he had to get to work, and when they got home, they found their dog dead on their front porch. Officers photographed the animal and advised they would look into the matter.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 3:02 p.m. Thursday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised of a dog locked in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and owner and advised them of the complaint, and the owner advised they understood.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 2:55 p.m. Thursday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Dispatch advised they’d been able to reach the caller who advised that his phone was accidentally calling 911 while in his pocket.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 1:47 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. Officers located the person in question who advised they were just waiting for a Door Dash order.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Benton Road at 1:26 p.m. Thursday for a reported combative patient. Officers stood by until the person in question was transported by ambulance.
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and Southeast Boulevard at 9:17 a.m. Thursday for a report of an item falling off a vehicle and into the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the item in question.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 5:08 a.m. Thursday for a report of someone allegedly attempting to run the caller over with their car. The caller advised that she and a friend were walking home when they were confronted by a person who began threatening them about stealing his phone and then began stating he was going to assault her. The caller fled the area on an e-bike and the person followed in their car going off the road and driving down the sidewalk after the caller before fleeing the area when the caller reached their residence.
Leetonia
— Officers checked out an alarm drop shortly after midnight Aug. 14 at the Leetonia Public Library, confirming all doors were secured.
— Police responded at 5:52 a.m. Oct. 13 to an audible alarm at the Leetonia Post Office, found the property secure and shut off the alarm.
— A driver’s license was recovered in Columbiana sometime before 2:31 p.m. Aug. 13 and turned into police for return to the BMV. The license had been issued to Timothy Edward Lee Thompson, of Kimbolton, whose driving privileges were suspended and had no warrants.
— A Walnut Street woman reported at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 that her daughter’s ex-husband was harassing her via text. She has custody of her grandchild and doesn’t have any active protection orders against the male subject. Due to him messaging her over a hundred times in one day in a threatening manner, she was advised to get one.
— Police investigated an alarm drop at 9:45 p.m. Aug. 10 at the gas station in the 300 block of Columbia Street. There was no signs of forced entry.
— Officers responded to a civil dispute at 2:13 p.m. Aug. 12 in the 200 block of Oak Street between a father and daughter over personal property. The daughter allegedly owes the father $185 and he was atempting to withhold property until he was paid.
— Police are pursuing possible charges against two juveniles who trespassed on the front property of a village front porch and was caught on video, which was sent to the LPD at 8 a.m. Aug. 11.
— Jeremy Lee Echols, no address listed, was cited at 5:58 p.m. Aug. 11 in the area of Hazel and Columbia streets for driving while suspended. He also was given a warning for marked lanes.
— Devon Taylor, no address listed, was cited at 8:57 p.m. Aug. 10 near State and Water streets for speeding and expired registration. The vehicle was towed to Steve’s.
— An officer assisted with a warrant service of Megan Detchon, no address listed, at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 for a probation violation. Upon transport, she was found to possess suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia before intake.
