Sheriff’s Office

— Minerva police requested assistance at 5:53 a.m. Saturday with a man who exited the village walking on foot in the road possibly intoxicated on U.S. Route 30, now in West Township in Columbiana County. A deputy spoke with the man, who was fine, and was in front of his residence on Ellsworth Road, West Township.

— A man on Slater Road, Butler Township, called at 2:11 a.m. Saturday to report a possible burglary in progress at his residence due to hearing a bang inside his home and seeing a person on his security camera walking around the residence on the outside. Deputies checked the inside and outside of the residence and found no one, with no sign of forced entry on any of the doors or windows.

— A deputy was dispatched at 9:51 p.m. Friday to Gromley Road in reference to an unknown person opening the back door to a trailer and reported to be in the trailer. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the callers who said there was no damage from the person entering the residence nor did they see that anything was taken. They just wanted a report on file.

— A woman on Mick Road, Yellow Creek Township, reported at 2:38 p.m. Friday that she and her son were having a disagreement over a deceased family member’s belongings. She was advised to contact an attorney.

— A deputy at 10:52 p.m. Thursday assisted Smith Township police, Mahoning County, with a vehicle they were attempting to stop in their jurisdiction on U.S. Route 62 westbound from Homeworth Road. The vehicle finally stopped in the city of Alliance at U.S. Route 62 and state Route 183.

— A man on Case Road, Knox Township reported a theft at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 8.

Salem

— Carl Cranston, 45, Salem, was charged with aggravated menacing after officers responded to a 500 South Broadway Avenue business at 1:48 a.m. Saturday in reference to a man with a knife and found the bouncer holding Cranston on the ground. Officers learned Cranston had been kicked out of the bar, but returned brandishing the large knife and approached someone before being distracted and disarmed.

— Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue and West State Street at 5:42 p.m. Friday in reference to a two-vehicle in which an eastbound vehicle struck a southbound vehicle while both were traveling through the intersection. Officers were unable to determine who was at fault.

— An officer responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 5:31 p.m. Friday where a resident reported an unknown female made threats against his juvenile sister. The sister said her and another girl started an argument via phone text messages and the complainant wanted a report on file.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:59 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest. Officers transported the man in question to the police station for processing and seized $160 cash as evidence.
