Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies checked the area of Smith Road and Third Street in Summitville after receiving a call at 8:48 p.m. Thursday regarding a suspicious vehicle, but nothing was found in the immediate and surrounding areas.

— A deputy at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday attempted to return a call from a resident on Grant Street, Center Township, regarding neighbor troubles. The deputy was sent to the caller’s voicemail on all attempts.

— The manager at Dollar General, state Route 172, Hanover Township reported at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday that a woman was in the parking lot crying and she was with two men by a black Dodge truck. Deputies spoke with the two men, one from Wellsville and one from Center Township, who were working on the truck trying to get it to start. Both said the woman sitting in the vehicle was fine, but has some mental health issues. Deputies spoke with the woman, of Hanover Township, who said she was fine.

— A deputy attempted to return a call at 5:43 p.m. Monday regarding threats or harassment in the area of U.S. Route 62 in Butler Township, with the deputy sent to the caller’s voicemail on all attempts to make contact.

Salem

— Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:27 a.m. Friday for a reported person to be removed. Officers located the person, who the owner wanted to be trespassed from the bar, and gave them a ride back to their hotel.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 2:18 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a person was inside the building and had removed her shirt. Officers spoke with the first person who denied the incident, and officers advised her to keep her clothes on and to leave the area.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 12:48 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious sound. The caller advised that someone had knocked on the door. Officers checked the area but did not locate them.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 10:51 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a person was passed out in a vehicle with the lights on. Officers knocked on the window to wake up the driver, John Seddon IV, 40, Salem, who admitted to huffing electronic duster. The fire department and EMT responded and transported him to the Salem Regional Medical Center. Seddon was cited for physical control.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:04 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver who advised they were just visiting someone and officers advised them that they could not park on the roadway in that area.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of West State Street at 8:26 p.m. Thursday for a 911 call from a smart watch. Officers made contact and the residence and were advised that everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Thursday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers were advised by one party that the other had come to his residence and confronted him about his dog. Contact was made with the other party who also advised that the disagreement was over the dog. He was advised to stay on his own property and not be yelling outside.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:50 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest. Officers transported the man to the police department for processing and released and $140 was seized as evidence.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Granite Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that the juvenile was screaming and hitting vehicles. Officers spoke with the juvenile’s babysitter who advised the child suffers from a mental handicap and that his mother was on the way to pick him up. Officers stood by until the mother arrived.

— Officers responded to the area of Brooklyn Avenue and East Third Street at 6:44 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute between a resident and delivery driver. Officers spoke with the driver who advised that he had been having an anxiety attack when the resident came outside and began yelling at him. Nothing physical was reported.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:03 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that they were moving out of the residence and that a man would not help pack and was becoming belligerent with them. All were advised to cease arguing.

— Officers responded to the area of Rose Avenue and East Third Street at 4:37 p.m. Thursday for a reported reckless driver. Officers checked the area but did not locate any vehicle matching the description given.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 4:04 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that they saw a man riding a bicycle and trying to sell items out of his backpack to another person. Officers checked the area but were unable to find the man.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 2:53 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman was walking with one shoe carrying a box and kept dropping it. The caller also advised that this was 20 minutes prior to calling. Officers responded to the area but were unable to find them.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 2:46 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a man. The caller advised that she spoke with her boyfriend earlier in the day and they seemed angry and upset. Officers attempted to contact them, but nobody answered the door.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Painter Road at 1:51 p.m. Thursday for a complaint of solicitors. Officers spoke with the person who advised that he had a permit for soliciting through the city, but when asked for the permit said they did not have it on them. Officers advised them that they could not continue to solicit within the city limits unless they had the permit with them and they became upset advising that in other jurisdiction they were able to look up the permit, and that the caller was waiting their time and should have taken it upon themselves to look him up in the system for permits in the city. Officers advised them that had he kept the permit on him as stated in the ordinance that there would be no problem and that if he continued to solicit without it and the police were called, he’d be cited.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:31 p.m. Thursday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller has previously filed a report against the same person who is violating their bond agreement by talking to the caller. The caller advised that they’ve told the person to stop contacting them multiple times and has blocked their number and social media and they keep making new numbers. They also advised that the person had begun texting their children. Officers advised the caller that the incident would be sent to the prosecutor’s officer to review for charges.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 10:59 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a man staying in the hotel. Officers were advised that the man had checked out about an hour before officers arrived.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Granite Avenue at 9:05 a.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. Officers were advised that the residence had been condemned and that there were people and animals inside. Officers found six individuals and five dogs living inside the residence and advised them that they were not permitted to be living at the residence, and to gather their belongings and leave. They were also advised that they were permitted to be there during daylight hours to clean but must make police aware. Officers contacted the humane agent for two guinea pigs that the owner was unable to take with them.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Third Street at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that random people have been coming up onto her front porch to see her sister whom she is caring for due to a medical condition and that she doesn’t want them there. The caller was advised of their options and that an extra watch would be placed on her residence.

— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday for a one-vehicle accident. A vehicle driven northbound on Jennings Avenue by Gwendolyn Glista, 62, Salem, went off the right side of the roadway and got stuck in a ditch. Further investigation found that Glista was intoxicated, and she was taken into custody and transported to the police department for further testing. Glista was cited with OVI and reasonable control and transported back to her residence.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Summit Street at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that his sister was being aggressive toward him due to her being intoxicated. Officers spoke with the sister to see if she could stay somewhere for the night and officers gave her a courtesy transport to a hotel.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday for a report of bicycles stolen from the caller’s yard. The caller has cameras but was having trouble getting them to work. They said they would call when they got the video.
