Highway Patrol
— Julie Ann Salinas, of Lang Avenue in East Liverpool, was cited at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 20 in Madison Township for a stop sign violation, after failing to yield at a stop sign and striking a motorcycle ridden by Cheyenne Kunder, West Ninth Street in East Liverpool, near township roads 911 and 1005 and ejecting her.
— No citation was noted for a crash at 5:56 a.m. Aug. 21 in Unity Township involving Lisa Fender, of East 15th Street in Salem, and Deseree Stredney, of Niles. Both drivers were southbound on state Route 165, when Stredney slowed to turn left into a private drive with her hazards and was struck by Fender, resulting in her car overturning.
— Deziree Jones, of Sebring, was cited at 10:09 a.m. Aug. 16 in Smith Township, after pulling out of a private driveway on U.S. Route 62 and striking the westbound vehicle belonging to Robert Anderson, Hartley Road of Alliance, causing it to overturn.
— Melissa Jo Kemats, of Black Road in Lisbon, was cited at 1:56 p.m. Aug. 17 in Unity Township for a right of way violation. Chad Richman, of Metz Road in New Waterford, was westbound on Township Road 0844, when Kemats pulled from Township Road 0985 and struck Richman, who went off the road, struck a ditch and overturned.
— Nevaeh Pitts, of state Route 154 in Negley, was cited at 5:02 p.m. Aug. 21 in Fairfield Township, after striking a vehicle driven by Linda Reynolds, of East Lincoln Way in Lisbon, and initially fleeing the scene.
— George Gardner, of Ridge Road in Minerva, was cited at 6:25 a.m. Aug. 22 in Knox Township for failure to obey a traffic control device, after pulling from a stop sign on Walker Road and striking a vehicle driven by Landon Bottomley, of East Lincoln Way in Minerva, on U.S. Route 30.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 5:02 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they learned someone was making comments of suicide and drove off. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:22 a.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute. The person advised she and her boyfriend were consuming alcohol at their residence when he punched her in the nose and she fled the residence on foot to her father’s home. The fire department and EMT responded to the bruising being observed on the person’s nose, but they refused to be transported.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ash Street at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. A husband and wife in the midst of a divorce were arguing about which parent was going to keep their 5-year-old son for the night. Officers provided both parents with their options.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that juveniles had gotten into an argument outside of the residence. Officers spoke with all parties involved and they were advised to stay away from each other. The matter will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that approximately six hours prior to calling they believed a juvenile was living in a condemned residence. Officers checked the area and were unable to contact anyone.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday for a report of possible theft. The caller advised that they had left their school laptop inside their grandmother’s vehicle and when they returned to gather their belongings it was missing. The caller provided a serial number to the laptop, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Aetna Street at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a bicycle recovered behind the business. Officers collected the bicycle and placed it in recovered bicycle storage.
— Paul Smith, 91, Salem, was cited for failure to control after his vehicle on Maple Street struck a parked vehicle at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:52 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman was seen yelling at cars passing by. Officers spoke with the woman, who denied yelling and officers advised her that if she was yelling to tone it down.
— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and Trimble Street at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located the owner nearby and the vehicle was promptly moved.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Eleventh Street at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check which was subsequently confirmed to be a Perry Township residence. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence, and nothing appeared to be out of order.
— Officers responded with the fire department and EMT to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man lying on the floor in their apartment. The caller advised they’d come to check on her brother after not hearing from him in a couple days and when officers arrived and met with the caller they were found to have passed from natural causes.
— Officers responded to the area of East Second Street at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday for a reported dog at large. Officers were unable to maintain control of the dog and the humane agent was contacted to attempt to locate and obtain the animal.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 7:51 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute between two siblings. Officers discovered the altercation was verbal only and that no physical violence or threats were reported. All parties involved were advised to remain separated.
Leetonia
— Police investigated a suspicious person at 1:58 p.m. Aug. 22 in the 300 block of Columbia Street at the Sunoco gas station. A concerned citizen reported Colin McIlveen, of Masury, was asking for a free lighter and was wearing an ankle monitor. Upon contact, McIlveen was found to be valid with no warrants. He admitted to being on house arrest with work privileges and stopped to fuel up on his way to work, which the privileges permitted.
— A female resident in the 100 block of Chestnut Street talked to police at 7:19 p.m. Aug. 21 regarding her ex-boyfriend, who had resided with him and her parents at the address for five years. He wished to come and retrieve property at a specific time and date. She said that he expressed that if her new boyfriend is there upon his arrival “there will be problems.” Police advised they will request extra patrol around the neighborhood and also asked if he shows up earlier than expected to notify police before opening the door.
— An officer found a loose dog in the ditch of state Route 344 next to Commerce Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Aug. 23. He was unable to retrieve the dog, who had fled into a storm drain and was going to contact the county humane society.
— Police responded at 11:16 p.m. Aug. 23 to the Corner Tavern for a reported fight. It was determined threats were made but no physical violence.
— The Columbiana dispatch center advised at 9:52 a.m. Aug. 20 that a female caller notified them she found a 4-year-old little boy running in the alley in the area of Spruce and Columbia unaccompanied by an adult. Prior to officer’s arrival, the mother came and retrieved the child who is autistic and had exited the residence from an unsecured rear door.
— William Cottrill was arrested at 11:28 p.m. Aug. 20 in the area of Industry Street and state Route 344 on a charge of obstructing official business, after he provided a false information to officers who had contact with him on the side of the road.
Lisbon
— A man called the station to report unauthorized use of his vehicle at 9:24 a.m. on Aug. 12.
— Officers responded to a report on Aug. 18 of 10:13 a.m. of a semi driving off state routes on South Green Street.
— Officers responded to a male that left adult daycare on Lincole Place at 10:33 a.m. on Aug. 19 A male called in to advise that an older man was at his business. The man was transported back to the daycare.
— Officers responded at 11:34 a.m. on Aug. 19 to a call of a FedEx driver being chased by a dog on Saltwell Road. The driver advised that the dog jumped over the fence and chased him. He dropped his scanner in the yard. Officers retrieved the scanner and were able to get the dog back inside the fence.
— A woman on Chestnut Street reported that at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 23 that a male showed up with her ring camera. Nothing was damaged or appeared missing, but she wanted a report on file regarding the incident.
— Officers responded at 12:09 p.m. on Aug. 23 to East Lincoln Way to talk to a man about an unwelcome guest at his home. The officer advised the guest to leave.
— Officers responded at 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 25 to West Washington Street regarding a trail of foam beads leading from her trash can to her relative’s house on North Beaver Street.
— Officers responded at 1:13 a.m. on Aug. 25 to the report of a male subject that was lying on the ground at Circle K. North Star arrived and transported him to Salem hospital.
— Officers made contact with a resident on Saltwell Road for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department at 3:26 p.m. on Aug. 25.
