— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room at 2:03 a.m. Friday in reference to an assault. The victim reported at approximately 10:30 p.m. that night he was walking in the east/west alley in the area of East Third Street and Vine Avenue when he was caught by surprise by a man who struck him in the right eye and mouth, causing large lacerations. The victim also suffered a severely swollen eye along with fractures around it. The victim did not know who assaulted him. The matter was referred to the detective bureau.

— A resident reported on station at 4:13 p.m. Thursday an issue she is having with someone she knows. She was advised of her options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Roosevelt Avenue and East State Street at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in which the vehicles were being driven westbound and one of them struck the rear of the other, which had stopped for traffic. The driver of the struck vehicle was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital emergency room. No citations were issued.

— An officer responded with medical personnel to the 1700 block of Fairview Court at 11:40 a.m. Thursday in reference to an ambulance needed. The officer stood by until no longer needed.

— An officer responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 10:14 a.m. Thursday in reference to a student not wanting to go to school. The officer observed the mother trying to get the student into the school, but the student was running around the parking lot. The officer and school staff had to assist the student into the school for her own safety.

— An officer responded with medical personnel to th e1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:16 a.m. Thursday in reference to an ambulance needed. The officer stood by until no longer needed.
