Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday to Whinnery Road at Winona Road, Butler Township, for a camping trailer parked along the edge of the roadway causing a traffic hazard. Due to obstructing the view of the stop sign, having no license plate and the vin tag being peeled off, the camper was towed.
Highway Patrol
— Bonnie Wise, of Bandy Road in Homeworth, was cited at 6:26 p.m. Sept. 3 in Knox Township, after she went off the westbound lane of Georgetown Road, striking a ditch and utility pole.
— Neither Lauren Halter, of Mountz Road in East Rochester, nor William Randolph, of Cincinnati, were cited at 7:12 p.m. Aug. 31, after their vehicles sideswiped on Rochester Road in West Township.
— William Plumm, of Main Street in Wellsville, was cited at 2:08 p.m. Sept. 5 for failure to control in Middleton Township, after he traveled off the westbound lane of state Route 170, striking a guardrail and overturning his vehicle.
— Janice Davis, of Indian Creek, N.C., was cited at 1:54 p.m. Sept. 8 in Hanover Township, after she struck a westbound vehicle driven by Susan Kiewall, of Hanoverton, while pulling from a private driveway on state Route 172.
Salem
— Sharon Wright, 66, Kensington, was cited for failure to yield after her northbound vehicle on South Howard Avenue failed to yield from a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven eastbound on West Pershing Street by Eric Sosbe, 54, Salem, at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers requested an ambulance for a person in custody complaining of a medical issue at the police department at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday. Due to the extent of the issues being claimed the person was released for medical evaluation and charges were forwarded to the court for a warrant to be issued.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:29 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute. The female half advised that she and her husband had gotten into a verbal altercation and she wanted officers to escort her into her home to collect belongings. While speaking with her the male half came to the police department to report the incident as well and advised that it had become physical and had injuries. Photos were taken of his injuries and a statement was obtained from the man, who also advised he would be staying with family for the rest of the day. Officers took the female half into custody and after being taken into custody requested an ambulance and was ultimately released for evaluation. A warrant for domestic violence will be filed.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a pickup truck with a trailer attached was parked too close to their driveway and was causing issues getting in an out of the driveway. Officers attempted to contact the driver but did not get an answer at the door and a citation was issued.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers assisted the fire department until no longer needed.
— Officers on patrol in the area of East State Street and Vine Avenue at 11:10 p.m. Monday located a man yelling. Officers spoke with the man, who was intoxicated, and had him contact a ride to come pick him up. Officers gave the man a warning for disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 8 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller was having issues with their juvenile son and after speaking with both the juvenile advised he would start listening.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Sixth Street at 4:50 p.m. Monday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties involved and collected statements from them. Nothing physical took place and the incident will be sent to the prosecutor’s office to review for possible charges.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:36 p.m. Monday regarding a report of misuse of a credit card. They advised that they hired a contractor to do exterior work on their house and gave them the card to purchase materials for the job and that the list of items to be purchased was discussed in advance with a contract signed. The person advised that the contractor failed to complete the work in the agreed upon time frame and that they failed to provide receipts for purchases made up to that point and when they checked digital receipts purchases were made for materials that were not discussed nor agreed upon.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:20 p.m. Monday regarding a notice of unpaid tickets in New York she received in the mail. The caller advised that she has never been to New York and investigation found that the notice was legitimate and attached to a vehicle she had sold to a dealership prior to the violations. Officers advised the caller to contact the dealership to see if they can tell her where the old vehicle went after being sold to them and to contact the non-emergency number on the mail for the New York Police Department to advised them about the situation.
— Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Fourth Street at 11:19 a.m. Monday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that a dog was inside a vehicle for a long period of time. Officers observed the dog to be inside the vehicle in deplorable conditions with no means for water or food and surrounded by its own feces, and to have been in the vehicle since the early morning. An owner of the dog responded and advised that it had been placed in the vehicle due to not being allowed in the house alone and the dog was placed inside the house. Both owners of the dog, whose names were not listed, will be facing criminal charges as a result of the incident.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 8:06 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman who advised her landlord had locked her out of her apartment. When officers arrived, they found the woman had access to her apartment and appeared to be having a mental break down. Officers checked the residence and appeared to be having a mental breakdown.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Georgetown Road and West Pershing Street at 3:50 p.m. Friday. A consent search of the vehicle was conducted with no contraband located and the driver, whose name was not listed, was cited for texting while driving.
— Officers responded to the area of Depot Road and Marion Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that there was an elderly driver slumped over in their vehicle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 600 block of Main Street at 5:47 p.m. Sept. 3 for a report of a woman lying in the yard. When officers arrived, the woman was up and moving and she advised that she was okay and did not need anything.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road at 5:23 p.m. Sept. 2 for a wellness check. The caller advised that a man was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot not moving. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he was okay and didn’t need anything.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 9:48 a.m. Sept. 2 for a report of a juvenile refusing to go to school. The caller advised that their daughter jumped out of the vehicle at a stop sign while taking them to school and that while she was able to get them back in the car they were now arguing about not wanting to go, claiming that she is sick and holding onto furniture refusing to get off the floor to walk out to the car. Officers attempted to speak with the daughter but were unable to.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Fifth Street at 9:18 p.m. Sept. 1 to assist the Salem Police Department with a man allegedly making threats and walking around with an unassembled rifle. The man was found and detained, and the rifle was found to be a BB gun. Officers stood by until the investigation was complete.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 at 7:49 p.m. Sept. 1 for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
Leetonia
— Two juveniles reported at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 6 that they were almost struck by a green SUV near Columbia and Cherry. The officer attempted to catch up with the vehicle which had traveled eastbound on Columbia Street but was unable to locate it.
— While on routine patrol, police observed Washingtonville police out with a vehicle on Walnut Street, encountering the driver who said her son had just broke his arm while playing football at Leetonia schools. Green Township EMS arrived on scene as the officer cleared.
— Leetonia police were notified of a reckless operation vehicle (silver Toyota) entering their jurisdiction at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 3, but the officer was unable to find and make contact with the vehicle.
