Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded at 12:13 a.m. Saturday to a noise complaint on Chamberlain Street, Negley where they found a large party with loud music. The owner of the property was told to turn down the music and turned it down before deputies left.
— A suspicious person was reported walking on the road in the area of Carey and Slater roads in Butler Township at 6:49 a.m. Friday. A deputy checked all directions for several miles with no contact with the described man.
— A deputy at 5:10 p.m. Sept. 9 returned a call regarding a civil matter on Madison Drive, Madison Township. The person was advised how to proceed and told a report would be on file.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Shady Lane at 8:31 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that while she was at the store she was hit by a loaf of bread. Officers spoke with the caller and advised that she was not injured and just wanted a report. She was advised that a report would be on file.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious vehicle. It was reported that a black truck had been parked in a parking lot near the caller’s residence for some time and that a few people were sitting inside. Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle and learned that they were waiting on a friend who was at a nearby residence.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 8:11 p.m. Saturday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the man, Todd Dean, 45, Salem, and placed him in custody for an active warrant out of Columbiana County.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the juvenile missed a couple days of school. Officers spoke with the juvenile and mother and were advised that everything at home is okay.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:24 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. Everything was found to be okay and there was no dispute.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Snyder Road at 6:18 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers with a medical call. The caller advised that there were accidental injuries to two juveniles. Officers stood by until Perry Township arrived.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 4:57 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that there has been three separate incidents involving one of their employees. None of the incidents were criminal in nature and the employee was placed on administrative suspension until the investigation is concluded.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Arch Street at 4:39 p.m. Saturday for an ambulance call. Officers located a deceased man and EMT and the fire department responded and contacted the coroner and funeral home. The funeral home responded and transported the deceased.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:12 p.m. Saturday to speak with a woman regarding a person yelling obscenities at her. The woman advised that a man unknown to her was driving and yelled comments of a threatening manner, and that she wanted officers to be aware of the incident.
— Officers on patrol in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East 11th Street at 12:41 p.m. Saturday were flagged down by a motorist requesting assistance in locating a family campground which was outside the city. They were provided with directions to reach their destination.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 11:37 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman was talking with them and made a comment about wanting to harm themselves. Officers spoke with the woman who advised they were fine and just upset about a financial situation.
— Officers responded to the area of Benton Road at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person walking in the roadway. Officers located the individual near East State Street, but they were no longer in the roadway. Officers advised them of the complaint and requested they stay out of the roadway to avoid placing themselves in danger of being struck by a vehicle. They were also assisted with transportation to the 400 block of South Lundy.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue at 10:03 a.m. Saturday to deliver a message from another agency. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 6:44 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stolen bicycle. The caller advised that two bikes were locked together in the front yard, but the lock had been broken, and one was missing.
— Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 10:47 p.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with two people walking their dogs in the parks after hours and advised them of the park’s hours of operation.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:21 p.m. Friday for a fireworks complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone shooting off fireworks.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 10:12 p.m. Friday who advised that their ex-boyfriend had locked them out of their house. Officers spoke with the male half, advising them of the eviction process and the caller returned to the residence.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Rose Avenue and East Fifth Street at 9:45 p.m. Friday for a report of a man with an active warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Andrew Welsh, 36, Salem, confirming the warrant and took Welsh into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded on the 2300 block of East State Street at 8:21 p.m. Friday for a reported of counterfeit money. The caller advised that they did not know who it was from, and officers advised them that if she finds any more to call back. The money will be placed in the department’s evidence.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 7:48 p.m. Friday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that five juvenile females from a group home in Goshen Township that were known to run away from the home were walking down the roadway. Officers located the juveniles and contacted the Goshen Township Police Department and learned that their dispatch was about to enter the juveniles into LEADS as missing. Goshen officers responded to the scene and transported the juveniles back to the home.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Washington Avenue at 6:40 p.m. Friday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that her son was getting verbally aggressive with her, but he was gone when officers arrived. The son was then called to come and pick up his things and leave, and his officers stood by until both parties separated.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Second Street at 10:55 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman was seen sitting in walker with her head down alone. Officers spoke with the woman who was observed to be fine and not in need of assistance.
— Officers responded to the area of Benton Road and West State Street at 9:51 a.m. Friday for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle parked at Dunkin Donuts and a woman walked towards the vehicle and asked why officers by her vehicle. When officers advised the woman of the complaint, she became defensive and stated she was not drunk and did not want to take any tests. Officers observed the woman to be jittery and moving erratically and asked if she needed any medical assistance which she denied. While speaking with the woman a man the woman knew offered to drive her home. The man drove the woman home, and her vehicle was left in the parking lot.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Howard Avenue at 9:02 a.m. Friday for a civil complaint. Officers were advised by the caller that their landlord had been harassing them and showed up unannounced. After speaking to the landlord, it was determined that they were attempting to make contact to ensure the tenant was aware that certain companies would be entering the residence to replace a hot water tank, and that they came to the residence to meet with the housing department to go over a complaint regarding the structure. Officers advised them that the main issue at hand was a civil matter and would need to be discussed at a later time after everybody had a chance to calm down.
