Highway Patrol
— Anastasia Shaw, Blair Road in Salineville, was cited at 6:38 a.m. Sept. 9 for improper turn at an intersection in Wayne Township, after allegedly striking a vehicle driven by Jocelyn Parrish, of Hazel Run Road in Salineville, while turning from state Route 164 onto Glasgow Road.
— Brayden JM Lambertson, of Wilson Street in Salineville, was cited at 10:34 p.m. Sept. 4 for failure to control in Wayne Township, after allegedly driving off the southbound lane of state Route 164, striking a fence and ditch.
— Keith Clipse, of Chamberlain Street in Negley, was cited at 3:37 p.m. Sept. 6 for failure to control in Middleton Township, after striking a guardrail when going off the northbound lane of state Route 170.
— Montana Virden, of state Route 518 in Lisbon, was cited at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 14 for failure to control in Wayne Township, after crossing the center line on Route 518 and going off the left side of the road, striking an utility pole and landing in a corn field.
Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy returned a call at 9:03 p.m. Sunday regarding a scam on Hillcrest Road, Yellow Creek Township, but was unable to reach the person after two attempts and was sent to a voicemail that was not set up.
— Suspicious activity was reported at 8:43 p.m. Sept. 10 in the area of the Columbiana County Airport on County Airport Road, Madison Township, where a person shined a laser at an airplane. Nobody was found.
— A deputy responded to Hellbender Bluff Park, Madison Township, for a call of suspicious activity at 7:43 p.m. Sept. 10, but found nothing out of the ordinary.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that a person owes him money and is refusing to pay him back. Officers spoke with both parties involved and they were advised that the issue was civil in nature.
— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Fourth Street at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday for a report of accidental damage. A vehicle traveling through a lot struck some lines which pulled a pole away from a building causing damage to the building and employees reportedly told them not to drive the route they did due to the lines.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Broadway Avenue at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal trespass. They were advised that a person who had been trespassed from the residence earlier that day had returned. Officers observed the person on the property and the person was detained. The caller advised that they wanted to pursue charges and the person, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail, and while at the jail they threatened officers and were advised they would face additional charges.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday for a reported animal issue in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue. The caller advised that one of the residents allows his dogs to run around off the leash and that the dogs are aggressive. Officers advised the man of the options for dealing with the situation. Officers will also contact the animal control officer to advise them of the situation.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised a dog was left in a vehicle with all the windows slightly down for about ten minutes. Officers checked the area, but the vehicle had already departed.
— Patti Colon, 53, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven Eastbound on Mullins Street by Ricky Jones, 36, Salem, while exiting a private drive at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Broadway Avenue at 9:47 a.m. Tuesday for a reported disorderly person. When officers arrived, the residents advised that he did not want the person in question there and requested they be trespassed. The person was issued a trespass warning and advised that he would be arrested if he returns.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area and located the person in question in the 400 block of East Sixth Street. Officers did not observe the person doing anything illegal and advised him of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Broadway Avenue at 11:53 p.m. Monday for a reported loud person. Two people were located and advised to keep it down for the night.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 11:05 p.m. Monday for a report of an intoxicated person. The person was transported to the emergency room by EMS as they were unable to stand or care for themselves.
— Officers responded to the fire department at 6:56 p.m. Monday for a report of a person yelling at juveniles. Officers collected information about the matter and found that the juveniles were throwing apples in a private lot, and an adult had gotten upset and begun to follow and yell profanity at the juveniles. The juveniles were advised to stay away from the residence and not to throw things and the adult was given a warning for disorderly conduct and advised to call if it occurs again.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Sixth Street at 6:09 p.m. Monday for a report of juveniles playing in the street unsupervised. The area was checked and the only juveniles in the area were visibly eating dinner on their front porch.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:52 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers learned that two juveniles had gotten into a physical altercation, and one had departed prior to their arrival. Contact was made with the known juvenile’s parents and officers will attempt to contact the other juvenile.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East State Street at 4:42 p.m. Monday for a report of two juveniles fighting. Both parties advised that the other had started the fight which stemmed from an issue that occurred at school. The guardians of both juveniles were contacted and responded to pick up their children. The school resource officer was also notified, and no injuries were observed to either juvenile.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Fairview Court at 4:32 p.m. Monday for a report of a person requesting an ambulance. Officers stood by until the person was transported.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:21 p.m. Monday for a reported fight in progress. Officers spoke with one of the people involved and he advised that his friend had an argument over a personal matter and that his friend had left prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 4:05 p.m. Monday for a medical call. Officers spoke with the woman at the residence who advised that she and her boyfriend had been arguing, and she had fallen in the driveway as she was leaving the residence. Officers advised her of the options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 3:49 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that there was a man sitting under a tree and it was found that the person lived in the complex.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers were advised that the altercation was verbal only and that nothing physical had taken place. Officers advised both to stay away from one another for the time being.
— Officers responded to the area of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 2:46 p.m. Monday for a reported fight. Officers spoke with the involved parties and determined that two women were in a dispute over a man when he stepped into the middle to stop the dispute. There were no reported injuries, and all were advised of the consequences if their actions continued.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 8:48 a.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the person in question had not been seen in about a week and mail was piling up. Officers observed a large number of packages by the door and checked with the local hospital to confirm the resident was not there. Officers checked the interior of the apartment with nobody located and the apartment was secured before officers left.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Maple Street at 4:09 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers were advised that the dispute had started due to the other parties’ Facebook account being logged into the caller’s phone and the caller not allowing them to sign out. Both parties separated and the account was logged out.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 2:09 a.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that he saw a juvenile hiding under an air conditioning unit. Officers searched the unit and the surrounding area but were unable to locate the juvenile.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:15 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that he had been left at the gas station by his friend earlier in the day and his wallet was left in the car, and that he was unable to contact the friend or get a ride back home to Lisbon. Officers attempted to contact the friend and gave the caller a ride to the police department.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 10:38 p.m. Sunday for a report of an intoxicated person who was allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle. When officers arrived the person, whose name was not listed, was out of the vehicle and was found to have an active warrant out of Columbiana County and was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 8:40 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. One of the parties had left prior to officers’ arrival and the other half advised that they had just had an argument.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 7:20 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that a person was on his porch yelling at him and trying to get him to fight. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to stay away from each other.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding a neighbor issue at 6:43 p.m. Sunday. The person advised their neighbor is always playing music very loud. Officers advised her to call in when he is playing the music. She was also advised of the noise ordinance.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive at 3:18 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they believed the man in question was having mental issues. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he’d had anxiety attack but was fine now and did not need any further assistance.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Shady Lane at 2:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of mail theft. The caller advised that a silver vehicle pulled up next to the mailbox and took something out of the mailbox. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 1:09 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen debit card. The caller advised that while he was incarcerated an ex-girlfriend obtained a debit card and spent over $1,600 without permission. A witness advised the officer that they had seen the woman in possession of the card and using it and officers obtained statements from the witness. The woman left the area prior to officers’ arrival, and the incident will be forwarded to the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:57 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man running in and out of traffic. Officers checked the area and surrounding streets but were unable to locate the man.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Second Street at 11:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported dog at large. Officers observed a broken chain on the dog’s caller, but no owner could be identified on the scene. The caller volunteered to care for the dog until the owner was located. A short time later the humane agent located the owner and the dog was returned.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Ninth Street at 11:38 a.m. Sunday for a report of a loose dog. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the dog. The caller called back a short time later and advised the dog was recovered by its owner.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 9:48 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and observed a man and woman sleeping in the vehicle. Officers spoke with both parties who advised that they were just passing through and were tired, so they pulled into the parking lot to sleep. The man and woman were advised of the complaint and were asked to leave by the manager of the business.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:58 a.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man was crouching under a vehicle. Officers learned that the person was working on his wife’s vehicle.
— Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street and Ohio Avenue at 2:46 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that he observed a man on a scooter following a woman that was walking home. Officers spoke with the woman who advised that she was okay “but was very creeped out” and officers advised her to call the station if she saw the man again.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fourth Street at 2:10 a.m. Saturday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the woman in question, Jessica Mitchell, 34, Salem, taking her into custody for the outstanding warrant and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:09 a.m. Saturday stopped a man who was observed to be intoxicated and stumbling down the sidewalk. Officers attempted to gather his information multiple times to get him a ride home, but he ignored officers’ requests and argued. The man, Les Crowe, 52, Salem, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and obstructing official business and he was transported to the police department for processing and later transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Park Avenue at 12:56 a.m. Sunday for a warrant check. Officers were unable to contact them.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West Pidgeon Road at 6:10 p.m. Saturday for a report of an unresponsive man. The fire department and EMT transported the man.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 3:43 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible domestic in progress. Officers spoke to the female half by phone who advised they were arguing with their sister on the phone and that no domestic had occurred. The woman would not provide her current location and advised that she was okay and didn’t need anything.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 3:25 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. The caller advised that he was kicked while attempting to get groceries from near the trunk of his car. Officers were able to identify the person in question as William McMillen III, 41, Salem, who admitted to kicking the caller. Officers took a written statement from the caller and McMillen was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with assault.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with all parties and found the incident to be a verbal altercation between brothers which began to escalate. The involved parties agreed to separate for the night.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Wisconsin Boulevard at 5:27 p.m. Sept. 11 for a report of a juvenile having a mental episode. They were transported by EMT.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1600 block of Depot Road at 1:24 p.m. Sept.10 for leaving the roadway. The driver, William Harvey Jr., 54, Salem, was found to have a suspended license and was cited for driving under suspension. The vehicle was towed by Kaiser Towing.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 11:11 a.m. Sept. 10 for a reported neighbor dispute. When officers arrived, the involved parties had already separated, and they were advised not to have any further contact with each other.
— Zachery Kemmer, 25, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his northbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Tyler Thorn, 28, Salem, at 7:49 a.m. Sept. 8. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 2:04 a.m. Sept. 8 for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 11:07 p.m. Sept. 7 for a noise complaint. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.
— Officers responded to the area of Goshen Road at 6:08 p.m. Sept. 7 to assist Goshen Township officers in locating juveniles that left the Sharon Lynn group home. Officers and Salem officers observed the juveniles and stood by until Goshen Township officers arrived.
