Sheriff’s Office
— A woman in Canton called at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday to request a welfare check on a family on Ridge Road, West Township due to receiving a text message that they may be in danger. A deputy spoke to a member of the family, who stated they wanted no contact with the woman.
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday to Hartley Road, Knox Township for a domestic violence report. A refusal was signed.
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday to South Lane Drive, Hanover Township for a domestic violence report. A refusal was signed.
— A deputy responded at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday to a report of two large cows walking down Scroggs Road toward state Route 154 from Churchill Road. The area was checked, but no cows were located. The deputy spoke to the patrol unit for the prison and they did not see any cows either.
— A man on Center Road, Knox Township reported at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday that his neighbor put a security camera on the telephone pole that’s on the property line. He was told to contact Ohio Edison.
— A woman on Maple Street, West Township reported at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday that her neighbor discharged a firearm into the ground on his property, due to her son’s three dogs barking.
— A deputy returned a call to a caller at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday on Gavers Road, Hanover Township, but they did not answer and their voice mailbox was full, then the other party called and complained that the original caller was making threats toward her of self harm and was constantly harassing her. She was told to cease all contact with the original caller and document the harassment. While on the phone with the person, it was determined a protection order had been filed against them, so the deputy went to the residence to serve it.
— A domestic dispute was reported at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 30, Center Township between two people. Deputies spoke with both people and observed the woman to have visible injuries. Denver Nelson Stonestreet, 35, U.S. Route 30, Lisbon, was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
— The staff from Duke and Duchess, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, called at 3:21 p.m. Monday to report finding multiple live rounds of ammunition lying in the grass on the property. A deputy collected the ammunition and transported it to the evidence room at the sheriff’s office for safekeeping.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday for a reported verbal dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and found that the female half wanted to leave but the male half would not let her. Officers advised them that the female half had every right to leave if they wanted to and they departed.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that a man who was just at his residence who had previously stolen from his residence. The caller wanted to man to be trespassed from his property and the trespass form was completed.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Third Street at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a person suspected of being involved in an active investigation. Officers spoke with the person on behalf of the investigation officers until they arrived a few minutes later.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a juvenile due to a bullying incident which had reportedly occurred at a school bus stop earlier in the day. Officers confirmed everyone was fine and the school resource officer was already aware of the incident and will follow up tomorrow.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a staff member being too rough with a patient. When officers arrived an administrator advised that the patient was unable to give any details about which staff member was too rough with her nor when the incident happened. Due to the limited information available, the administrator just wanted a report to be filed.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported animal complaint. Officers located a deceased opossum on the sidewalk. Officers removed the animal from the sidewalk and disposed of it.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Aetna Street at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man having a possible mental health crisis that was outside yelling, punching objects and wielding a sword. Officers spoke with the man and removed the sword from his possession, finding that he was having a possible medical emergency. The fire department and EMT responded, and the man was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation. Officers placed the sword at the police department for safe keeping.
— Officers responded to the area of South Union Avenue and Ridgewood Drive at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that since a no parking zone was implemented on Ridgewood unknown vehicles have been parking in front of their residence, and that while they are aware it is public parking the vehicles sit for days at a time, only moving a few feet and blocking the garbage trucks from being able to pick up their trash on certain days. Officers advised that they would check the area, but if the vehicles were being moved in a timely manner there was nothing they could do.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday for a reported verbal dispute between roommates. Officers spoke with both roommates who were arguing over money issues, and they advised they were sorry and wouldn’t argue anymore.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of East State Street at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a mulch bed that caught fire. Officers found that the fire was under control and law enforcement was not needed.
