Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. Sunday to the area of Creek Road, New Waterford for a dirt bike complaint. The area was checked and the deputy did see a dirt bike, but it went into the woods before contact could be made.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported by a resident at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at a property on Harvey Avenue, Center Township, but was not located when deputies patrolled the area.
— A white truck was reported in the ditch on Butler Grange Road near Mountz Road in Butler Township at 6:18 a.m. Friday, but when deputies checked the area in all directions, the vehicle was not found.
— Deputies along with Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded at 11:37 p.m. Oct. 6 to Spillway Road, Hanover Township, regarding a mental health call. The caller had an active warrant and was placed in custody. Units then checked the other person, who was found to be in crisis, and stayed with the person until EMS arrived. The person decided to go to the hospital willingly. The caller, whose name was not on the report provided to the media, was transported to the county jail.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 12:21 p.m. Sunday for a reported speak with officer complaint. The caller advised that a neighbor was taking advantage of another neighbor in the complex and alleged elder abuse. Officers gathered all information and spoke with the parties involved. Nothing criminal was determined nor was any form of elder abuse noted.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:54 a.m. Sunday regarding a probation violation involving their ex-husband. The woman advised that she was attending a church service when she observed the ex sitting across the aisle from her and that their family has been attending this church for a few years and the ex had never attended previously. The woman said no contact was made but they and their family left immediately and came to the police department to make a report.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:45 a.m. Sunday for a report of fraud. The person advised that a fraudulent cell phone account had been opened in his name by his mother with three cell phones. The caller advised that he was unaware of the account and had recently learned that a balance of $3,400 was owed when he attempted to make a purchase and was denied due to his credit being affected. He requested a report so that he could dispute the charge with the cellular company.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 11:28 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers could hear a disturbance prior to knocking and announcing themselves, but nobody was responding to the door, nor to the rear door. Officers identified themselves at the front door again and advised the occupants to open the door or it would be forced open and a man and woman came out and were separated to speak with officers. Both advised that they had gotten into a heated verbal dispute, but there were neither threats nor violence. The female half advised that she had not had any sleep and just wanted to get her phone and leave for the time being. The male half located the phone and officers suggested both get some rest and talk later in the day after letting their emotions cool down. The female half was assisted with transportation to a family member’s residence.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 7:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a patient attacking the care workers. The patient had calmed down prior to the officers’ arrival and was subsequently transported by EMT to a care facility in another city. The individual has been progressively combative during the past several days, but no staff member had been physically assaulted or injured.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Aetna Street at 5:34 a.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that their boyfriend had come to the residence and forced his way inside after being told he was not welcome. The boyfriend claimed that he had established residency there and had been living there for a month, which was disputed by the caller, and officers were aware that he had been residing at a different location in the city two weeks prior. The caller also advised of a prior domestic with the boyfriend which was found to have occurred in Lisbon at a different time. While the caller was arranging for another location for the boyfriend to stay the boyfriend complained of being in pain from a prior injury and requested an ambulance, and the fire department and EMT responded and transported him to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to the police department at 4:46 a.m. for a report of a woman who had entered and thrown things around the lobby before walking out. Contact was made with the woman who advised that she was upset because the dispatcher couldn’t hear her over the intercom, and officers discovered that they had come to the police department to file a report about an assault that she sustained in the 100 block of West Third Street. The woman advised that she was unsure if she had an injury and the fire department and EMT were requested to respond. The woman later refused medical treatment but provided a written statement about the assault and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers on patrol in the area of North Lundy Avenue at 4:16 a.m. Sunday observed a large garbage dumpster obstructing Sugartree Alley. Officers subsequently pushed the dumpster out of the roadway and to the side of the building to clear the roadway.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street at 12:53 a.m. Sunday and located two men walking down the street. Officers spoke with the men and gave them a ride to their residence.
— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of East State Street at 12:36 a.m. Sunday for a report of juveniles riding scooters past curfew. Officers spoke with each juvenile to gather information and advised them that they would have to be released to a guardian. Each guardian was contacted, and all juveniles were released to them.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:42 p.m. Saturday for a reported theft. The caller advised that his Apple Air Pods were stolen from his place of employment and were pinging from an address inside the city. Officers advised the caller they would attempt contact at the residence but were unable to speak with anyone. Officers then advised that they would inform the next shift to make contact during daylight hours and if he observes the Air Pods moving around to call the station.
— Officers responded to the area of Superior Avenue and East Eighth Street at 9:36 p.m. Saturday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle was blocking their driveway in a no parking zone. Officers located the vehicle, and the owner was already walking outside. She advised that they were just leaving.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Buckeye Circle at 8:44 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that two juveniles on scooters and wearing Halloween masks were following cars on the road and growling at them. Officers spoke with the juveniles and advised them to stop following cars and to follow traffic laws.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:53 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers with a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that they observed a person with a flashlight walking through her neighbor’s backyard. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.
