Perry Township

–Officers spoke to a person by phone at 9:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of telecommunications harassment regarding a social media post. The officer noted that juveniles were involved in the complaint, and the incident is under investigation.

–Officers responded to the 1800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:55 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that there was an elderly woman wearing a pink bath robe walking in the roadway. Officers were able to locate the woman at her residence, and she advised that she was OKand did not need anything. There was a relative on scene who advised that they would look after her.

–Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 3:05 p.m. Sunday for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that while working on a residence they noticed that tools and other miscellaneous items have been coming up missing, with previous reports on the disappearances filed. An unknown man was found on the property going through items behind the garage and inside the residence. The man, Christopher Ratcliffe, 41, didn’t have permission to be on the property and was placed under arrest. His backpack was searched and a speaker which had been reported stolen was located. Ratcliffe was transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with criminal trespass and receiving stolen property.

–Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 1:55 p.m. Sunday for a reported squatter. The caller advised that last week tools had been stolen from inside the residence and that day they had found that someone had set up a tent right inside the front door. Clothing was found lying around the tent along with a citation from another agency. The caller also found some of the missing tools in a closet inside of the room with the tent. Nobody was found in or around the residence.

–Officers responded to the 2100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:27 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a neighbor that lives near his child’s mother was sending harassing messages to her regarding him and issues if he came to see his children. Officers advised that a report would be on file and to call if an issue occurred at the residence.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Road at 9:11 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible burglary. The caller advised that their purse was int the closet when she went to bed, but it was not any longer. Officers assisted the caller in searching for the purse which was successfully located.

–Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was driven first by Hunter Hodson, 38, Lake Milton, the Christa Hunt, 47, Lisbon, who were both found to be operating a motor vehicle impaired. Both were cited for OVI, and Hutton received an additional citation for open container, and Hodson received additional citations for driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation. Both were transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers assisted Salem officers with a traffic stop in the area of West State Street and Idaho Avenue at 7:19 p.m. Saturday. Officers assisted while a field sobriety test was given and remained on scene until the person in question was taken into custody.

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 3:43 p.m. Saturday for a juvenile issue. The investigation will be forwarded to a detective.

–Officers in the 400 block of Benton Road observed a man jumping in the middle of the roadway causing an obstruction in traffic at 11:39 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with the man who advised he was happy due to being released from jail, and officers advised him to celebrate off of the roadway.

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 9:42 a.m. Saturday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that a neighbor continuous bangs on the door and wall because he wants back sunglasses and a nerf gun which were gifted to them several months ago, and that the neighbor wants the items back due to being evicted. Officers advised the neighbor that the incident was civil due to the items being a gift and not to bother them.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East State Street at 2:37 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person refusing to leave a business. Officers located the person in question across the street and advised them of the complaint, and that the business had requested he be formally trespassed as a result of a prior incident. The trespass notice was given to the man.

— A juvenile who had been reported missing since October 17 walked into the police department at 10:56 a.m. Tuesday. The juvenile, who had an active warrant for unruly charges through the juvenile court, was taken into custody and transported to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:16 a.m. Tuesday for a complaint of theft. The caller advised that their trash can was stolen from their yard sometime between Thursday and Monday, and that they wanted a report on file to get a replacement trash can.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised there was another tenant being evicted and had 30 days to leave the property with whom they had issues prior to the eviction. They wanted a report on file in case there were any issues before they were evicted.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:32 a.m. Tuesday for a person in need of help. Officers located the person sitting in the area and found that they had become winded from walking up the hill on South Lincoln Avenue and requested assistance getting to a local medical facility to pick up medication. Officers assisted them with transportation to their destination.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Kennedy Drive at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a sick raccoon. Officers observed the raccoon to be in poor condition, but not a threat. Dispatch attempted to contact the wildlife officer, but nobody called back. Officers returned later in the morning, and the animal had not moved but was still alive. Officers put the raccoon down, and the Humane Agent later responded to remove the carcass.

Highway Patrol

— Timothy Conn, of Rochester Road in East Rochester, was cited at 9:11 p.m. Oct. 24 in West Township for failure to yield, after proceeding from a stop sign at state Route 172 and CR402 and striking Brian Hoopes, of Hoopes Road in Salem.

— Kelly Cooper, of Somer Street in Leetonia, was cited at 11:39 p.m. Oct. 30 in Elkrun Township for failure to control, after going off the left side of the roadway near state Route 154 and Morris Road before striking a sign and ditch.

— William Stuart, of New Brighton, was not cited at 6:25 p.m. Oct. 31 in Salem Township, after losing control of his vehicle while eastbound on state Route 14 when his front passenger tire separated from the vehicle, resulting in him going of the roadway into a guardrail.

— Cynthia Straney, of Marietta, was cited at 2:20 p.m. Oct. 27 in East Palestine for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after striking a vehicle driven by Andrew Kress, of St. Clairsville, as both vehicles were eastbound on state Route 46.
