Perry Township
–Officers responded to the 800 block of Georgetown Road at 11 a.m. Saturday for a 911-hang-up-call. Officers checked the area and spoke with the resident who advised they were the only one on the property and did not recognize the phone number. Everything checked OK.
–Officers spoke to a person by phone at 8:20 a.m. Nov 6 for a report of theft. The caller advised that an unknown person had stolen one of their Blue Republic garbage containers. The caller’s security camera recorded the person walking away with the container.
–Officers spoke with a person by phone at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 6 for a report of fraud. The caller advised that they replied to an ad on apartments.com and had paid an $80 fee through Zelle for an application fee and spoke to a man who advised that they worked for a realty company and to meet at the residence that day but did not show up. The caller found that the property had a local realty sign in the yard and that the company advised the house was for sale not rent, and that the caller should make a report for fraud.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 7:58 p.m. Nov. 5 for a reported wellness check. The caller advised that they were worried about their daughter and wanted them to be checked on. Officers spoke with the daughter who advised that they were going through a tough time but would be OK and did not need anything.
–Officers responded to the 1500 block of Manor Drive at 7:03 p.m. Nov. 5 for a report of a tree and lines down in the roadway. Ohio Edison was contacted and responded. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
Salem
–Officers responded to the area of North Broadway Avenue and East Fourth Street at 1:26 a.m. Friday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle and advised the caller of the complaint. The driver advised that he was arriving home after work and no signs of impairment were observed from the driver.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 11:29 p.m. Thursday for a medical call. The caller advised that they found their neighbor lying on the ground outside and he could not get up. Officers stood by until the fire department and EMT arrived, and EMT transported them to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
–Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:36 p.m. Thursday for a report of loud music. The caller advised that their neighbor’s music was rattling their walls. Officers were unable to hear the music.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 10:17 p.m. Thursday for multiple reports of shots fired. Officers spoke with a resident who advised that they had heard the shots behind their residence and that a dark colored Kia sedan had left the area just prior to officers arriving on scene. Officers checked the area for several minutes, finding no evidence of any shots being fired.
–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:02 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that a person had smacked her kids. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they had spanked the juvenile due to him not listening. There was no trauma nor injury to the child.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:02 p.m. Thursday for a reported hit and skip. The driver’s side mirror of a vehicle was hit and knocked off by another vehicle traveling on the roadway. Officers took photos of the damage and gathered information.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:54 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil dispute. Officers spoke with both parties, and the female half gathered her belongings and left the area without incident.
–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:16 a.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that they had witnessed the person in question conceal items in their purse and attempted to leave the store without paying. Asset protection stopped them at the front door, and the person apologized and relinquished the items. Officers advised them that they were free to go but would be getting paperwork in the mail for a court summons for theft.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:35 a.m. Thursday regarding a person living in their rental and wanting them removed. They advised that they had stopped by a rental to notify the tenant of a 24-hour notice of inspection after being advised that the tenant had been incarcerated and another person was inside the residence. They spoke with the person who advised they were house-sitting and refused to leave despite being advised that they were not permitted to be there, per the contract with the tenant. Officers advised them that the matter was civil and that the issue would ultimately be with the tenant.
