Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy returned a call at 9:08 p.m. Wednesday regarding suspicious activity at a property on state Route 170 in Middleton Township, advising the caller how to proceed.
— A deputy was dispatched at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday to Clarks Mill Road, Washington Township, regarding suspicious activity, advising the call how to proceed.
— A man from Yellow Creek Township reported at 8:20 p.m. Dec. 23 that he lost his wallet while at a property on East Liverpool Road, Madison Township.
— Neighbor troubles were reported at 6:42 p.m. Dec. 23 on Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township.
— A deputy responded at 4:07 p.m. Dec. 22 to West Main Street, Salineville for a runaway juvenile/missing juvenile report. The mother filled out a missing persons report and the juvenile was entered into the system as missing. The mother was told to call if the juvenile returned home.
— Deputies were dispatched at 4:46 p.m. Dec. 21 to Dunn Road, Madison Township for a reported assault. Deputies spoke with all parties involved. While conducting the investigation, a person become unruly and was taken into custody for disorderly conduct. A sentencing hearing was set Jan. 12 in county Municipal Court for the person arrested, Alecia M. O’Hanlon, 39, Dunn Road, East Liverpool, who pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct for allegedly threatening another woman and getting in her face and screaming at her on Dec. 21 in Madison Township.
— Menacing was reported at 3:43 p.m. Dec. 18 on North Street, Middleton Township.
Salem
— Officers responded to the area of Butcher and South Cunningham roads at 4:16 a.m. Monday for a reported tree down in the roadway. Officers checked several areas around the location but did not locate any trees in the roadway.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:56 a.m. Monday for a residential alarm. The caller advised their alarm detected motion at the basement door. Officers checked all outer perimeter doors near the basement, which were all secure. The homeowner was advised to call back if needed.
— Officers checked on an illegally parked vehicle in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue and located the driver at 8:43 p.m. Sunday. Officers located the driver, and the vehicle was moved.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 2:52 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute between a man and woman. Officers found that it was a verbal dispute over a ring which could not be found. The female involved advised that they were going to leave the residence once they were able to get a ride.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 2:14 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen license plate. The caller advised that they had parked their vehicle at a family member’s house on Cleveland Street on Wednesday and gone out of town, and that when they returned home, they noticed that their license plate was not on the vehicle. The caller filled out a stolen plate form, and it was entered into LEADS.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Snyder Road at 1:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle being driven behind a closed business in Perry Township. Officers advised Perry Township officers of the vehicle and that they would check on it. Officers spoke with the driver who advised they were a family member of the owner, and they were just setting up a trail cam. Officers remained on scene until Perry Township officers arrived.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:39 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised officers of ongoing issues with his 15-year-old daughter. The caller was advised of their options and had the process of filing unruly charges explained.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1100 block of Benton Road at 11:09 a.m. Sunday for a smoke investigation. Officers stayed on scene until they were no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Rea Drive at 10:48 a.m. Sunday to deliver a message to the Saint Peters Police Department in Missouri.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:34 a.m. Sunday for a reported wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question, who was being treated for back pain and assisted with getting them back into their bed for further medical evaluation.
— Officers responded to the area of North Cunningham Road at 12:26 a.m. Sunday for a reported disturbance. Officers found that an occupant was highly intoxicated and making excessive noise. Officers spoke with them and asked them to keep the noise down.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 9:12 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers located a woman and her friends attempting to get into the emergency room for medical treatment. Officers assisted in getting her inside, and emergency room staff were able to get them into a room soon after.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 7:08 p.m. Saturday for a reported parking complaint and found that the lot was private and that there was enough room for the vehicle in question to exit the lot.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 6:09 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person claiming not to remember anything since Wednesday. Officers collected information and the person in question was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Officers spoke with the medical staff regarding the matter possibly being investigated.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 6:24 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The fire department had to use a tool to gain entry to a residence, and EMT transported them to the hospital for further treatment.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 5:04 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers separated the involved parties and found that they had been in a verbal altercation. Officers observed the male half to be intoxicated, and the female half advised that he had been in a verbal altercation at a local bar and that he had retrieved a firearm, which she took away from him. Officers located a firearm inside the vehicle, and the male half, John Bright, 30, Salem, was taken into custody for using weapons while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:50 p.m. Saturday for a report of theft. The caller advised that they had dropped their credit card at a gas station and received a notification that it had been used. Officers spoke to an employee, who advised that he would work on getting a video ready for officers.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Liberty Street at 1:21 p.m. Saturday to check on a leaning utility pole. Officers found the pole in question was damaged and dispatch contacted and advised the appropriate agency.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Pershing Street at 1:39 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that someone was in a vacant residence. The residence was check and all doors were secured. A note will be left for the housing department.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Bentley Drive at 2:31 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired. As officers were responding to the scene, they were advised that two vehicles had left the area the possible shots were reported from. Officers checked the area while another watched video footage from a security camera. Officers checked the area for spent shell casings but did not locate any, and multiple side streets in the surrounding area were checked with nobody located. Officers will keep an extra patrol in the neighborhood.
— Officers responded with the fire department and EMT to Salem North Healthcare at 5:21 p.m. Friday for a patient that had made suicidal comments to staff. Officers stood by while first responders spoke with the patient, who was ultimately transported without incident.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Highland Avenue at 10:43 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. Officers were advised that people were in a vacant residence whose owner was deceased. Officers spoke with the people in question and found that they were family members of the deceased.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 9:41 a.m. Friday for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle. The caller advised that someone had broken the driver’s side window of their vehicle. Officers observed the damage, and the caller was advised of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue at 4:37 p.m. Thursday for a reported warrant check. The wanted person, Timothy Holloway, 42, Salem, was located and taken into custody for the outstanding warrant and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. While at the jail, Holloway advised jail staff of a medical condition and the jail staff refused to accept him without being checked out at the hospital. Officers transported them back to the police department, and EMT transported them to the Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Once released, they were transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 3:39 a.m. Thursday for a report of threats. Officers spoke with a man outside the residence who advised another man was coming to fight. Officers advised them to stay inside the residence and to contact police if the man showed up. Officers also spoke with the other person, who advised they reside outside of town and were not going to the caller’s residence.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 12:36 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers observed a residence that had been toilet papered and located three boys who apologized and agreed to return to help with cleanup.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 2:16 a.m. Saturday for what was initially reported as a vehicle versus deer crash. Officers found that a vehicle driven by Charity Todd, 25, Salem, had gone off the right side of the roadway striking two mailboxes, and then went off the left side of the roadway striking an embankment. Todd was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT where he submitted to a chemical test and was cited for OVI, driving under suspension, and failure to control. Sinsley’s Towing removed the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southridge Drive at 11:28 a.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. Officers were unable to speak with her.
— Officers responded to a business in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal damage. The caller got into a verbal altercation with two unknown men, and one pulled the driver’s side door handle off his car. The caller advised that they did want to file charges, and officers were able to identify the suspected man. Charges are pending.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 23 regarding check fraud. The man advised that his wife sent a $309.77 check by mail to pay for a credit card bill, and when he checked his bank account the check was cashed for $3,309.77 by an unknown person in Virginia. The man had already contacted his bank, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 4:05 a.m. Dec. 22 for a reported noise complaint. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them of the noise ordinance.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Newgarden Road at 7:49 p.m. Dec. 21 for a report of a man walking. The wife advised that he was not in his right state of mind. Officers located the man, and after speaking with him, he left with the man.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West State Street at 6:58 p.m. Dec. 20 for a reported warrant check. Officers spoke with the person in question, Michael Gbur, 60, Salem, and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Egypt Road at 4:55 p.m. Dec. 20 for a reported tree in the roadway. Officers found the tree hanging in the roadway on cable lines and contracted the fire department who responded and removed the tree.
