Salem
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious vehicle. The caller advised an unknown person had been driving in circles in the area for more than two hours while honking. Officers checked the area and several surrounding streets but did not locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that there had been an argument after which one party began striking themselves while the other attempted to restrain them from doing so. Both parties agreed to remain separated for the night and were advised to contact officers if anything else was needed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 8 p.m. Tuesday for a reported breaking and entering of a vacant residence. The person in question, Daniel Dochterman, 58, Salem, was ordered to exit the residence, or K-9 Chaz would be deployed, and Dochterman willingly surrendered. The property owner advised that they wanted to press charges, and Dochterman was arrested and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised their son was being disrespectful and acting out. Both parties were having minor issues with one another and were given options on how to work it out. They were advised to call back if necessary.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday for a report of theft. Officers issued Alyssa Evans, East Liverpool, with a trespass notice and advised them that they would be issued a court summons for theft.
— Officers spoke with a person by phone at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that an unknown woman had called her and began flirting with her and told her to press one to continue. The caller was advised to block the number and not give any personal information.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:51 p.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. The caller advised that a vehicle had driven them off the road while driving southbound on North Lincoln Avenue and had also struck two mailboxes. Photos of the property damage were taken and logged into the report, and flock cameras in the area are being reviewed for possible suspects.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday for a reported missing juvenile. The juvenile was located inside the building.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a possibly intoxicated person. Officers were advised that the person in question had gotten into a vehicle and was traveling southbound on North Ellsworth Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop finding that the driver was not intoxicated.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:41 p.m. regarding possible fraud. The caller advised that they had received a bill in the mail from a local store that was in someone else’s name. Officers advised them of the options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West 10th Street at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an unwanted person. The caller advised that a known person was at their door, and they did not want to speak to them. Officers spoke with the woman and requested them to leave. The woman left without issue.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 1:44 p.m. Tuesday for a reported altercation between two residents at the facility. The caller advised that there were no injuries, and she was provided with a report number.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers stood by until medical personnel advised that nothing further was needed.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Ridgewood Drive at 9:06 a.m. Tuesday for a reported 911 hang-up- all. Officers made contact at the residence and found no problems.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:02 a.m. Tuesday for a report of loud music coming from a motor vehicle. Officers spoke with both parties involved and found that one, Ashton Mitchell, Salem, had an active warrant out of Mahoning County. Mitchell was placed under arrest and transported to the police department where custody was transferred to the Goshen Police District.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Quaker Court and Salem Parkway at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday observed a suspicious vehicle parked near a closed industrial business. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver, Clinton Scott III, advised they were out scrapping, and officers found his license to be suspended. Scott was issued a warning for trespassing and cited for driving under suspension.
— Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an OVI investigation at the police department at 11:41 p.m. Monday. Officers stood by while troopers provided the person in question with an opportunity to submit a breath test, which they did.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:17 p.m. Monday for a report of domestic violence. Officers found that no violence had occurred and that there was only property damage. Both parties involved were intoxicated, and the fire department and EMT checked a cut on one person which was inflicted accidentally. One party left for the evening to avoid further issues.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:06 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties involved, and the matter was resolved for the night.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:32 p.m. Monday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised that their wife, whom he is separated from but still legally married to, had his vehicle towed and will not tell him where it is. Officers advised them to contact an attorney as the matter was civil in nature.
— The school resource officer was advised of a custody issue which might cause problems at the end of the school day at 2:37 p.m. Monday. Officers determined that the parents were still married with no formal custody agreement, so both have the right to their children. Officers spoke with one parent who was advised that the issue was civil and not to involve the school in a personal dispute.
— The school resource officer was advised of a fight that occurred during class change which had been broken up by staff at 1:01 p.m. Monday. Both students advised that the fight was over an issue which had occurred during the Christmas break and rolled over into the return to class. The school issued punishment for the incident, and one parent advised that they wanted to file charges. All information was gathered, statement forms were given, and a medical release form was given to be signed.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 12:04 a.m. Monday for a combative patient. Officers assisted EMT and later assisted the Salem Regional Medical Center with the patient.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 7:23 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that a former friend had hit her in the shoulder with a box. No injuries were reported, and no marks could be observed. Officers spoke with the other party, who advised that there was a verbal dispute over a phone and she gave it back to the caller. Due to the stories, conflicting officers took statements from both and will forward the statements to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 3:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of stolen services. The caller advised a neighbor has been dumping trash in their dumpster. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who came and retrieved the trash, and advised them of the possible consequences. The caller wanted two people from that address trespassed from the business, and officers will attempt to contact them.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 10:16 a.m. Sunday for a reported medical emergency. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
Perry Township
— Kelly Robinson, 46, Newark, was cited for failure to yield after her westbound vehicle on Georgetown Road failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by David Wasko, 72, Lisbon, causing it to strike a vehicle driven by Deborah Soltesz, 67, Minerva at 3:14 p.m. Saturday. The passenger of Wasko’s vehicle was transported to St. Elizabeth Main by Stat Medevac, and Biddle’s, Sinsley, and Kaiser Towing responded to remove the vehicles due to disabling damage.
— Officers responded to the Salem Security Storage at 9 p.m. Friday to assist a person who advised that they were inside the gated area and it wouldn’t let her out. When officers arrived, the caller was already outside the gate, which was still malfunctioning. The business was contacted and made aware.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Depot Road near Snyder Road located a man walking along the roadway at 12:15 a.m. Thursday. Officers provided them with a ride back to their residence.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Georgetown Road at 12:05 a.m. Dec. 31 for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the man, who advised that he was seeing his girlfriend before heading to work.
— Officers responded to the area of East Pidgeon Road at 12:11 a.m. Dec. 30 for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area and surroundings but were unable to locate them.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Prospect Street at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 29 for questions regarding discharging a firearm in the township. Officers advised them of the proper safety precautions.
— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 29 for a reported civil issue. The caller advised officers that she and her husband were going through a divorce and that there is a court order stating that no property is to be taken from the residence. The caller advised that their husband hasn’t taken any property yet but has threatened to do so. Officers advised them that there would be a report on file.
— Officers responded to the area of East Pine Lake Road near North Lincoln Avenue at 7:23 a.m. Dec. 29 for a reported tree in the roadway. Officers stood by with traffic control until the fire department could remove the tree.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Pidgeon Road at 5:39 a.m. Dec. 29 for a report of a transformer sparking. Officers were unable to locate it and advised the fire department.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Cunningham Road at 4:12 a.m. Dec. 29 located a tree blocking the southbound lane. Officers were able to remove the tree.
