— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 10:02 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a person was leaning on the wall outside the restaurant. Officers checked the area but did not locate anyone near the building or the surrounding blocks.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 8:36 p.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity that occurred over the weekend. The caller was advised to continue to ignore their neighbors and to record, either with her phone or surveillance camera, if any threats of harm occurred. At that time no threats of physical violence have occurred, and the caller was advised to notify the apartment management as the issue was ongoing.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Fair Avenue at 7:04 p.m. Monday for an animal complaint. The caller advised that a dog had been out on the porch in the cold for nearly 30 minutes and was barking. When officers arrived, the dog did not bark until contact was made at the doorway, and the owner advised that the dog had not been outside for more than 10 minutes but did agree to bring them inside the residence.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 6:34 p.m. Monday for a wellness check on an elderly person. Due to the extreme cold, officers offered them a ride home and transported them back to their residence.

— K-9 Chaz was requested for a K-9 sniff in the area of Georgetown Road and state Route 45 at 5:13 p.m. Monday. K-9 Chaz indicated to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 4:39 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers were advised that a man appeared to be asleep inside a vehicle. Officers checked on the man who advised that he was just tired and pulled off the road to close his eyes for a moment.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:26 p.m. Monday for a reported speak with officer report. The caller advised that they believed someone known to them had opened the door to their furnace while they were not home. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fourth Street at 11:29 a.m. Monday for a reported burglary in progress. Officers checked the residence and found no signs of forced entry to the residence.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Tanglewood Drive at 10:41 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicles and spoke with the drivers who advised that they were contractors for Columbia Gas and that they would be marking gas lines in the area for fiber optics that are going to be put in.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 6:31 a.m. Monday for a reported natural death. Officers found nothing suspicious and contacted the county coroner’s office, and the deceased was transported to the county morgue until family members could be contacted. Officers also stood by until the county humane agent arrived to take possession of the canine inside the residence.

— Joshua Holt, 36, Saint Clairsville, was cited for a red-light violation after his northbound vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue failed to stop at a red light causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven westbound on East Pershing Street by Mikayla Spangenberg, 22, Kent, at 6:31 a.m. Monday. Spangenburg was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by the fire department for possible injuries.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:37 a.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious odor. Officers spoke with the caller and advised them to contact their landlord.

— Officers responded to the area of North Broadway Avenue and East Third Street at 1:18 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that three people were walking down the middle of the street. Officers spoke with the people and found that one of them, Allen Vancooney, 30, Salem, had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Vancooney was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 11:57 p.m. Sunday for a reported noise complaint. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them to turn the music down.
