Salem
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department regarding an incident which occurred in East Palestine at 12:33 a.m. Friday. They advised that they had tried to make a report in East Palestine but that the department there was “not interested,” and that they had tried the sheriff’s office and been told to make the report in Salem. Officers explained jurisdiction and that the report had to be made in East Palestine.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 6:18 p.m. Thursday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the residents and were advised that everything was okay and the call was accidental.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Tenth Street at 6:15 p.m. Thursday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers were met in the driveway by the caller who advised that her mother had been having harmful thoughts. Officers spoke with the mother, who admitted to having thoughts of harming herself, and the fire department and EMT were requested to respond. All parties agreed to a plan, and they were taken to the Cleveland Clinic.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 5:14 p.m. Thursday for a report of an unruly juvenile. They advised that their live-in girlfriend has a child that will not listen. Officers advised them that the child’s guardian would need to file unruly charges.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of people to be removed. Officers spoke with the people in question and advised them that they needed to leave the property. They left without issue.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 2:48 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that an unknown man came into their business and left a note on their desk with derogatory comments. The caller also advised that he had found a similar note in the mailbox. The caller was advised to contact the police department if the person returned and they would be trespassed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 9:52 a.m. Thursday for an animal complaint. Officers located the animal in question outside with a resident of the home and advised the resident of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fourth Street at 7:25 a.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. Officers did not observe any violations but were able to speak with the owner of the vehicle, who moved it due to the vehicle partially blocking access to a driveway because of the snow.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Seventh Street at 3:06 a.m. Thursday for a report of people out in the cold. The caller did not state when they left the house but were suspicious that the adult was going to attempt to purchase drugs. Officers checked the area several times but were unable to locate the people.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle in question and followed them for several blocks and no violations were observed.
Columbiana
— Benny Miller, of Cleveland, was cited at 2:06 p.m. Jan. 22 for unsafe vehicle, after police responded to a traffic complaint at West Park Avenue and Chestnut Alley.
— A welfare check was performed in the 500 west park at 10:42 a.m. Jan. 22, after Ohio BCI received a call alleging that a resident said he had been locked in the basement for days. After police spoke with guardian of the involved person, police learned he was in some kind of psychosis, not medicine compliant or able to sleep for days.
— Cody Jackson, of Bessemer, Pa., was cited at 9:46 a.m. Jan. 22 for open container, after a routine traffic stop near state Route 14 and Nulf Drive.
