Sheriff’s Office

— A domestic violence report was taken at a residence on Main Street, Knox Township after a deputy was dispatched at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday. All parties separated for the night and a refusal was signed.

— A 911 hangup call was reported at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday at the Travelers Motel, state Route 45, Center Township. A deputy arrived and drove through the parking lot several times with emergency lights activated to provoke a response from the caller. A woman looked out the window from the office area, but did not attempt contact.

— A suspicious person was reported at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday on Orchard Court, Salem Township, with the caller reporting seeing a man, unknown description and unknown clothing, standing in the caller’s yard and walking off when the dogs started barking. The area was checked and no one was located and no foot tracks were located in the yard.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Bethel Drive at 1:43 a.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township officers with a reported person to be removed. The woman in question was given a ride home by Perry Township officers.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers attempted contact at the person in question’s residence for several minutes, but no contact was made.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday for a noise complaint. The caller advised that yelling could be heard from one of the rooms on the second floor. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that he was playing a video game and had just gotten too loud. He was advised to quiet down.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday regarding harassment. The caller advised that they had received unwanted packages from an ex-spouse which were not friendly but were not threatening in nature. Officers advised them of their options.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious people. Officers spoke with the people in question, who were found to be visiting someone who lived in the area. Further investigation found one of them, Matthew Crowl, 47, Salem, had an active warrant out of the Alliance Police Department. Officers confirmed the warrant and took Crowl into custody and transported him to a midway point between Salem and Alliance, and he was released to an Alliance officer’s custody.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. The caller advised that someone had stolen their checkbook from their residence, and that the only other people who had been in the residence in the last two days were a healthcare worker, and a social worker. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. The caller advised that several prescription pills were missing from the bottle, and that they believed they knew who had taken them but not when. Officers obtained the necessary information.

— Officers spoke to a person regarding concerns for their adult child in the 1300 block of Cleveland Street at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that the person in question had left the area with no word where they were going and was concerned for their safety. Officers checked a few locations that person could have been at but were unable to make contact.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue at 9:34 a.m. Wednesday to assist the fire department and EMT with a woman who needed to be transported to the hospital. The caller stated that their adult daughter may resist and get combative. Officers spoke with the woman in question, who advised they would go to the hospital and was transported by EMT.

Leetonia

— Police assisted EMS get an ambulance and stretcher up to a patient’s residence at 4:34 p.m. Jan. 25 due to the amount of snowfall.

— Michael Rutana, no address listed, was cited at 8:11 a.m. Jan. 24 in the area of state Route 344 and Columbia Street for driving under suspension.

— An officer mediated a neighbor dispute about a barking dog at 1:56 p.m. Jan. 26 in the 300 block of East High Street.

— Jose Manual Lopez, no address listed, was issued a warning at 2:22 p.m. Jan. 27 in the area of Somer and Lisbon streets, after he had difficulty negotiating a turn due to the depth of snow. The item he was delivering should have been made by a residential box truck and not a commercial truck and trailer.

— Shawn Chapman, of Columbia Street, was charged with disorderly conduct at noon Jan. 26, after becoming involved in a verbal dispute with an officer who stopped to warn him about shoveling snow onto the public street out of his driveway.

Lisbon

— Police helped to push a vehicle stuck in a snow drift at 11:45 a.m. Jan. 26 on South Beaver Street.

— A female caller reported at 4:29 p.m. Jan. 27 that she was being harassed via phone by her dead mother’s friend who claimed that she hadn’t returned borrowed property.

— Lisbon police assisted Columbiana with a suicidal arrestee en route to Columbiana County Jail at 2:54 a.m. Jan. 27. He was pink slipped and transported via ambulance.

— Officers responded at 2:20 p.m. Jan. 28 to the 800 block of North Market Street for a parking dispute between neighbors.

— A car fire was reported at 1:25 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 100 block of South Market. Police stood by until fire crews arrived.

— A trespass notice was issued to a juvenile’s parents for their son, after an assault was reported at 12:32 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 400 block of West Washington Street. Neither alleged victim wished to pursue charges.

— An officer stood by at 1 a.m. March 31 near the BP station on state Route 154 for a traffic stop by the Ohio Highway Patrol.

— An officer investigated a suspicious vehicle at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Columbiana County municipal court parking lot. The male driver was practicing driving with his father before taking his test.

— Kyrin McLaughlin, no address listed, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Feb. 12 on East Lincoln Way on a charge of drug paraphernalia, after a routine traffic stop. McLaughlin had been riding his bicycle dressed all in black and not having any front or rear light. Upon running his driver’s license, it was discovered that he had a failure to appear warrant, which he was served with. Upon the search incident to arrest, the officer found him in possession of several pieces of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe, metal cut straw with residue, chore boy and a push rod), all which he denied were his, adding that he thought he was set up. He also was charged for the drug paraphernalia.

— A female caller reported at 1:51 a.m. Feb. 5 that an identified male parked his vehicle next to hers in violation of a protection order and she wanted a report on file.

— Village police responded at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 4 to the 300 block of East Washington Street to a suspected breaking and entering in progress. Instead it was discovered to be confusion between juveniles over a possible Facebook marketplace transaction.

Columbiana

— Michael Ray, of Vienna, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Feb. 8 on OVI and improper of firearms in a motor vehicle in the 900 block of Columbiana Canfield Road, after police responded to Oakmont Plaza to a report of a male slumped over the wheel of his truck.

— Jose Castro, of Youngstown, was cited for no brake lights and driving under suspension shortly after midnight Feb. 13 near state routes 14 and 164, after a traffic stop.

— Lorelei Logan, of Kensington, was cited for expired registration and driving under suspension at 10:35 p.m. Feb. 9 as a result of a traffic stop near Sheetz.

East Palestine

— Officers were dispatched at 2:22 p.m. Feb. 14 to the 100 block of West Taggart Street for a suspicious person, whom the caller said was intoxicated and carrying around a six-pack of beer and playing loud music. Upon contact, none of the beers had been opened, he wasn’t intoxicated but had been playing music too loud while waiting for his ride.
