Salem
— Officers responded to the area of Short Avenue at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers found that the vehicle in question was tagged in January and had not moved since. Sinsley’s Towing responded, and the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Short Avenue at 9:27 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that when they were leaving for work, they noticed an unknown man in their yard. He said that he then got a call from a family member advising someone was attempting to open the door. Officers checked the area but did not locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East Third Street at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller, who recently moved out of state, advised they had not spoken to the person in question in several months and were concerned. Officers were unable to make contact at the residence.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Brooklyn Avenue at 6:08 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with serving court paperwork. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— While on the scene of an earlier call in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue at 4:06 a.m. Wednesday, officers smelled a strong odor of natural gas at a residence. The fire department was contacted.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Third Street at 3:49 a.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised their adult daughter was seen on the location app Life 360 traveling at a high rate of speed near Lake Tomahawk and was supposed to be home hours ago. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to conduct a wellness check.
— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Sixth Street at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located a vehicle and attempted contact at a residence but were unable to speak with the driver.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Eighth Street at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday to serve a warrant. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday for a reported warrant check. Officers located the person in question, John Seddon, 41, Salem, and advised him of the warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Tenth Street at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that her husband pushed her when dropping the kids off. The caller just wanted the matter documented at that time.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street for at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that they have a protection order against her husband and he was at their residence. Officers spoke with the male half who advised that he was not served anything. They went to stay at their mother’s house for the night.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a reported protection order violation. The caller advised that they have a protection order against their husband and that he was sending her text messages and driving by the residence
— The school resource officer was advised by the school administration that a student had made a statement while leaving school about an issue they are having. The resource officer along with another Salem officer and Perry Township officer spoke with the student about their comments, and he advised that he was just upset about an ongoing issue with a student and said something he didn’t mean out of anger. The student’s parents advised he was meeting with his counselor on Friday.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 8:40 p.m. Saturday for a reported protection order violation. Officers advised her not to contact the person in question, and investigation is pending.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Southridge Drive at 4:32 p.m. Friday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located multiple vehicles parked in the roadway and advised the owner of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:33 p.m. Friday for a reported breaking and entering. The caller advised that a man in a ski mask had ripped her front screen door off and broke the window out of the front door before returning to their vehicle and leaving the area. Officers photographed the scene and checked the area for cameras.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Friday for a reported dispute which started as a civil issue in the township. The female half was removed from the residence the night before and had supposedly left property there. Officers responded to Bethel Drive after the winner advised they could search for their items. Due to the woman being under the influence, they did not realize the items were left in her vehicle which remained on the property.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 11:58 a.m. Friday for multiple 911 hang-up calls. Officers spoke with an employee at the business and were advised that the calls were accidental and there were no issues.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Cunningham Road at 10:43 a.m. Friday for a report of fraud. The caller advised that a fraudulent account was opened through a college in their name and accrued a balance of $5,495. Officers contacted the college which confirmed that balance and advised the caller to file a police report. Further investigation will be conducted into the incident.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:13 p.m. Thursday for a reported of an elderly man that was unresponsive. The man was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.
