— A woman from Scott Mill Road, Rogers reported at 11:55 a.m. Thursday that she received a call from someone claiming to be a Sgt. Scott Smith of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office who told her there was a warrant out for her arrest, she missed jury duty and she must pay $2,100 by bitcoin. She paid the money and when she made contact with the actual sheriff’s office, she was told there was no Sgt. Scott Smith working for the sheriff’s office. She was told deputies do not call and ask for money.
— A woman on Bacon Avenue, Unity Township, called at 9:16 a.m. Thursday to request a report on file per her bank that $2,368.94 was withdrawn from her bank account without her consent.
