Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies at 11:52 a.m. Sunday provided mutual aid to the Ohio State Highway Patrol regarding a vehicle that crashed and was blocking Old Irondale Road in Yellow Creek Township. The operator of the vehicle was reported as being combative and refusing to exit the vehicle. Anthony Powell, 34, Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, was later charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest and fourth-degree felony assault on a peace officer. He was also cited for reasonable control and no seat belt.
— The cleaning staff from Minerva Welding, U.S. Route 30, West Township, reported at 5:27 p.m. Saturday that a man arrived in the parking lot in a vehicle looking for his wife, who he alleged was cheating on him and meeting in the parking lot. The wife was not in the parking lot. The caller said the man left. The license plate number came back to a Canton resident.
— An Austintown woman reported at 4:51 p.m. Saturday that she has belongings at her stepfather’s residence on East Liverpool Road, Madison Township and when she spoke with him, he said he wanted a deputy at the residence. A deputy spoke with him by phone and he said her belongings are on the front porch. She was advised and was told if she did not get back all of her belongings to contact an attorney.
— A man on state Route 164, Fairfield Township, reported at 4:27 p.m. Saturday that his neighbors are playing loud music. A deputy checked the area, with no contact with anyone.
— Deputies were dispatched at 7:21 p.m. Friday to Old Monroeville Road, Washington Township, for a medical call involving a person who was intoxicated, fell and hit their head and was being irate with family members. Upon arrival, Salineville EMS and Lifeteam EMS were on the scene. Lifeteam EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool.
— A deputy on routine patrol at 12:36 a.m. Friday came across a vehicle parked at the Elkton Pub, state Route 154, Lisbon. The vehicle appeared to have been parked at the location for several days. No one was inside the passenger compartment and there were no keys. The vehicle was registered to a person out of Mahoning County who is deceased. The vehicle is on private property and would need to be towed by the property owner.
— A deputy was dispatched at 5:54 p.m. Thursday, along with a Hanoverton unit, to a state Route 9, Hanover Township property regarding a domestic dispute. Units spoke to both parties involved, with the male half saying he would leave for the evening to let things cool down. Units cleared after advising to call back if other issues arose. Then the female half called and advised the male half didn’t leave and was being belligerent. Units went back to the residence and were advised the female half would be leaving. She left and went to her parents.
— A deputy was dispatched at 5:14 p.m. Thursday, along with a Hanoverton officer, to Campbell Road, Hanover Township, for a domestic dispute at a residence. The caller was advised how to proceed and was told to call back if any issues arose.
— A medical was reported at 4 p.m. Thursday on Dunn Road, Madison Township where a deputy was met by EMS, who said the person was OK. The person’s grandmother said they would be taking the person to the hospital just to be safe.
Salem
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 11:16 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Officers learned the caller’s child, who has autism, was having an episode while in the car and began hitting and biting him. Officers spoke with the juvenile and were able to calm her down and as a precaution, first responders and EMT were called to the scene. Both the caller and the juvenile were assessed, and both declined any medical attention. Officers advised them to call back if needed.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 6:26 p.m. Sunday for a reported person acting erratically and causing a disturbance. Officers located the person in question who appeared to be having a drug-related medical issue. They were transported by EMT to the hospital for further evaluation.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 4:37 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised there was a woman standing in the area making customers feel uncomfortable. Officers were advised that the women left while en route.
–Officers responded to Centennial Park at 1:57 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke with all of the juveniles involved, and they were given a warning for their actions.
–Officers assisted the Perry Township Police Department with an OVI arrest at the police department at 4:45 a.m. Sunday. Officers assisted until they were no longer needed.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 2:27 a.m. Sunday for a reported parking dispute. Officers spoke with all parties and advised them to separate and go inside for the night.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 2:12 a.m. Sunday for a reported trespass. The caller advised an unknown woman was in the apartment complex and did not belong in the hallway. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she had followed another woman there had possibly stolen something from her. When asked if she wanted to pursue a case on the theft, she declined.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:40 a.m. Sunday for a reported fight. Officers spoke with all involved, and none of the parties wanted to pursue charges. All parties involved were also advised to leave and not return for the night.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 9:50 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with the staff and attempted to speak with the caller, but they were sleeping. Officers will follow up during the next shift.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 7:57 p.m. Saturday for a reported unruly juvenile. Officers spoke with the juveniles and advised them to behave.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Street at 3:17 p.m. Saturday for a report of possible burglary. The caller advised she had observed two juveniles and one adult coming from her building and the back door had been kicked in. Officers located the juveniles and spoke to witnesses in the area who confirmed one of the juveniles in question had kicked in the back door and gone inside. The juvenile who kicked in the door was taken into custody and transported to the police department. The others were transported back to their residences with charges pending. Both juveniles were released to their guardians.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:51 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers checked the area but could not locate the source of the issue.
–Officers on patrol in the 1000 block of West State Street at 1:53 p.m. Saturday conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and found that the driver Breontez Young, 32, Salem, was under multiple suspensions and had contraband in their vehicle. Young was cited for driving under suspension and a red-light violation, and the passenger was issued a warning for wrongful entrustment.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue at 9:46 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. The caller advised that she could hear the neighbors screaming at each other. Officers spoke with both parties who advised they had gotten into a verbal argument over relationship issues. The female half advised that she was going to leave the residence for the day.
–Officers spoke to a person at the 600 block of Arch Street at 8:32 a.m. Saturday about a civil matter. He advised the mother of his children did not show up for their court-ordered visitation, and officers advised them of the options for dealing with the situation.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Second Street at 8:10 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised there was a man running around with a bloody nose and no shoes on. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that he gets frequent bloody noses. He was checked and cleared by medical staff.
–Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 7:34 a.m. Saturday for a reported trespass report. Officers found the person in question, whose name was not listed, had an active warrant out of Alliance. Officers took the person into custody and transported them to Damascus Friends Church where they were transferred into the Alliance Police Department’s custody. The person was also trespassed from the location.
