— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 12:54 a.m. Thursday for a reported medical call. EMT advised that a person had ingested rat poison, and a witness advised they had been chewing on the substance and had multiple seizures before calling 911. The person in question was conscious, but due to other mental issues officers were unable to speak with them. They were transported to Boardman for further treatment by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 10:16 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with a resident who advised that they had a verbal argument with their significant other, who had left for the night, and that there was no violence.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:18 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers were unable to speak with the person in question, but did speak with neighbors who advised they’d seen them outside earlier that day.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:42 p.m. Thursday for a report of multiple 911 hang-up calls. Officers spoke with the residents who advised that everything was okay and there was an issue with a cell phone.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:51 p.m. Thursday for a reported wanted person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
— Officers responded to a business in the 900 block of West State Street at 6:13 p.m. Thursday for a reported criminal damaging complaint. The caller advised that several of his vehicles had been damaged, possibly with a bb or pellet gun. Damage to several vehicles including small dents, paint chips, and cracked windows were documented with photographs.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 3:46 p.m. Thursday for a reported aggressive dog at large. Officers found the animal in question to be acting aggressively toward the caller and used their patrol car to chase it away and located the owner. Officers advised the owner, Amber Hoover-Thompson, 38, Salem, that due to the dog’s aggressive behavior and having previously bitten someone, there would be no warning and issued a citation for dog at large.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 2:18 p.m. Thursday for a reported single vehicle accident with injuries. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle involved and witnesses advised that the vehicle had departed before officers arrived and that there were no apparent injuries.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 9:05 a.m. Thursday for a reported sick raccoon. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the animal.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 7:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that someone known to them had been at the residence banging on the door and then left by doing a burnout in his vehicle. Officers advised them of the options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possibly suicidal person. First responders and EMT responded, and the person in question was transported to the hospital for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday for a report of domestic violence. The caller advised that an adult male household member, Justin Gibbs, 38, Salem, had struck her in the face during an argument. Gibbs was taken into custody charged with domestic violence, and due to a prior conviction for domestic violence the charge was elevated to a felony of the fourth degree.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday about a person doing a burnout in front of their house in the 500 block of East Euclid Street. The incident is part of an ongoing feud between multiple parties, and security footage of the incident was sent to officers.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a group of people going through yards. Officers located the individuals, who were juveniles, and were attempting to make money by picking up sticks in yards. Officers advised them not to do so.
— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman urinating in one of the pavilions. Officers located the woman in question, Robyn Smeltzer, 45, who admitted to doing so and was taken into custody charged with public indecency and released with a court summons after processing.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday to speak with an officer about possibly being tracked. Officers provided them with the options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible assault. Officers spoke with the caller and provided them with options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that they were at the residence to get her daughter’s belongings when the other party became irate. The other party gave the caller the items they were asking for.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday for a reported person with a gun. The caller advised that there was a man walking down the street carrying what appeared to be a firearm. Officers found that the item in question was a toy replica.
