Sheriff’s Office
— A man reported at 12:28 a.m. Friday that his adult son left his home at 3 p.m. in his vehicle, not taking his phone or any other items with him. He was concerned for his son’s welfare because he has never left before. It was explained that a missing person report could not be taken due to his son leaving willingly and that there was not any threat of immediate danger. It was also explained that a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) will be sent out for a check on well-being if the person is located.
— A deputy returned a call at 6:46 p.m. Thursday to a Fairfield Township resident regarding a juvenile-related issue. The deputy spoke with the juvenile’s father and advised him how to proceed.
— A resident on Hillcrest Road, Yellow Creek Township reported at 1:52 p.m. Thursday that she’s being harassed by test messages. Warrants were issued out of Columbiana County Municipal Court for telecommunications harassment and aggravated menacing for a Youngstown woman.
— A deputy responded at 5:20 p.m. Monday to Grafton Road, Salem Township for a domestic and spoke with both parties. The one party did not want to pursue charges and a refusal was signed. The other party was transported to a hospital due to mental health issues.
Salem
— Officers responded to the1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:09 a.m. Friday to assist the Perry Township Police Department with a person to be removed. Officers assisted until they were no longer needed.
— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:38 p.m. Thursday for a reported fight. The caller advised that a woman had left the bar intoxicated after punching and scratching another woman during a dispute. The woman in question was located on a traffic stop and released to a sober friend, who left the area. The manager of business requested the woman be trespassed from the property and a trespass form was filled out and will be served to the woman at a later time.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:32 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person who was suicidal and injured themselves. Officers spoke with the person in question, who was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. After speaking with relatives, it was found that the person has a history of depression and the wound was self-inflicted. No foul play was suspected.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 4:54 p.m. Thursday for a reported neighbor dispute. The dispute was over a table that was placed in the yard of the apartment complex, and the table was removed from the yard and placed into the dumpster.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Union Avenue at 2:59 p.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located the vehicle in question and advised the owner of the city’s parking ordinances. He advised that he understood.
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of East State Street at 2:43 p.m. Thursday for a reported medical call. Officers spoke with the staff of the medical facility and were advised that they were not needed.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue at 11:20 a.m. Thursday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that a person had come to their property to search for a lost cell phone, and a physical altercation had occurred, and that they wanted them to be trespassed from the property. Officers spoke with the person in question, who advised was advised not to return to the property, or they could face criminal charges.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Beechwood Road at 11:07 a.m. Thursday for a reported scam. The caller advised they had been contacted by an unknown person claiming to be from a credit card company. Officers advised them that it appeared to be a scam call.
— Daniel Shipley, 32, Salem, was cited for failure to yield his vehicle struck a vehicle driven westbound on West State Street by Cheyenne Hernandez, 22, Alliance, while attempting to pull out of a private parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and South Union Avenue at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that the vehicle was heading into the city. Officers checked the area but did not locate the vehicle.
— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of West State Street at 4:01 p.m. Wednesday were advised of a stolen vehicle on North Ellsworth Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, determined that the owner had not notified the reporting agency that the vehicle had been returned after it had been reported stolen. The vehicle’s owner was advised of the reason for the stop and to contact the proper agency.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday for a reported distraught person. Officers spoke with the person in question, and they were voluntarily transported by EMT.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday for a report of possible harassment. The caller advised that someone had sent them a letter regarding their business. Officers looked over the documents and did not observe anything illegal.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 1:04 p.m. Wednesday for a reported medical call. Officers stood by with the person in question until medical personnel arrived.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday for a reported ambulance needed. Officers stood by until the person in question was transported.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday to assist the fire department. Officers spoke with the fire department on scene and found that they were not needed.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Eighth Street at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that he was okay.
Columbiana
— Officers investigated a domestic dispute that occurred at 8:17 p.m. April 3 on city streets in a moving motor vehicle ending in the first block of North Main Street.
— A reported theft was investigated at 5:59 p.m. April 3 in the 100 block of East Woodland Avenue.
— An unidentified visitor who was prohibited from being there was reported at 2:47 p.m. April 2 to have arrived at Parkside Health Care Center. He was given a trespass warning and removed.
— Early Simko, of New Waterford, was cited at 7:44 p.m. April 1 near South Main and Pittsburgh streets for driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop.
— Two checks found inside the Chang Tai restaurant were found and turned into police who returned it to the owner at 1:53 p.m. April 1.
— Police assisted St. Clair Township police at 6:18 a.m. March 31 as they attempted to stop a vehicle entering Columbiana police jurisdiction via state routes 7 and 14.
