Salem

— Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue at 2:32 a.m. Monday for a report of debris in the roadway. The caller advised that they were metal pieces in the roadway. Officers cleared the items off the road.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Union Avenue at 12:23 a.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that they had seen two men standing behind her house near her shed. Officers checked the area on foot, but nobody was located.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Sunday for a reported kidnapping. The caller advised that a juvenile had been kidnapped from the residence. Officers spoke with multiple juveniles who advised that the juvenile that was kidnapped went willingly with the person in question, who was their boyfriend’s father and was there to pick up his son when the juvenile went with them. Officers spoke with the juvenile’s mother who advised that they had been dropped off at home and everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East School Street at 5:15 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke with the juveniles and they left the area.

— Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 4:43 p.m. Sunday were requested to assist the Perry Township Police Department with a traffic stop. K-9 Fero was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 4:41 p.m. Sunday for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers located the juvenile, and they were transported back to their residence. Officers advised the guardian of possible unruly charges.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:02 p.m. Sunday for a reported theft. The caller advised that their air pods had been stolen sometime Wednesday, and they were pinging at a location outside of Salem. Officers advised them to contact the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office so they could send a deputy to check the location for them. Officers advised that there would be a report on file.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:05 p.m. Sunday for a juvenile complaint. The caller advised that several juveniles were getting into fights nearly every day after exiting the school bus in the area of Maple Street and Woodland Avenue, and they were concerned someone was going to get hurt. Officers advised there would be an extra patrol in the area when the bus drops the juveniles off.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 10:37 a.m. Sunday to assist EMT with a medical call. Officers stood by until they were no longer.

— Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue and East Third Street at 8:33 a.m. Sunday for a reported dog at large. Officers observed the dog and were advised that the owner was on their way to get the dog. Officers stayed in the area until the dog was returned to its owner.

— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:29 a.m. Sunday for a reported fight in progress. Officers located two men wrestling on the ground and detained the aggressor, Devon Barrett, 21, East Liverpool. During the investigation Barrett, who was bleeding from the mouth, began vomiting in the back of the patrol car, became irate, and began spitting on officers. The fire department and EMT responded and transported him to the Salem Regional Medical Center. Due to Barrett’s level of intoxication and need for medical attention, he could not be taken into custody at that time. After Barrett was released from the hospital he was taken into custody, charged with disorderly conduct, menacing, assault, and harassment with bodily substances and transported to the Columbiana County Jail

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 10:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of threats. The third-party caller advised their sister texted them stating they were being threatened. Officers spoke with the sister and their boyfriend, who advised that they had an argument, but no threats were made. The sister gathered some belongings and officers transported her to a hotel for the evening.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:51 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for a moving violation. Officers advised the driver of the complaint, and they advised that the driver advised the vehicle behind him had been driving erratically and they were trying to get away from them. Officers observed no signs of impairment.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 7:25 p.m. Saturday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with a resident who advised that their child had accidentally dialed 911.

— Officers responded to the area of Waterworth Memorial Park at 7:22 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers spoke with the driver and advised them to slow down.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 2:40 p.m. Saturday for a reported overdose. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed, and the woman in question was transported for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Columbia Street at 2 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person walking in the area. Officers checked the area and surrounding streets but did not observe anyone.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 2 p.m. Saturday for a report of criminal damage to several motor vehicles. Officers collected all information on the affected vehicles and photographed the damage, which appeared to be from pellet guns.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:01 p.m. Saturday for a reported road rage incident. Officers spoke with both drivers involved after a brief physical altercation, and neither wanted to pursue the matter. The incident was documented in case further problems develop in the future.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Seventh Street at 4:51 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the involved parties, who advised that they had been arguing all night, but nothing physical occurred. Both parties advised they would stay separated for the night.

— Officers responded to the area of North Howard Avenue at 1:21 a.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the two men who advised they were looking for a woman who lived in the area.

— Officers on patrol in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:37 a.m. Saturday observed an intoxicated person. Officers stopped the person and gave them a ride to their residence.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:22 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with two women who advised that they had been in an argument but nothing physical had occurred. Officers advised them to stay away from each other for the evening.

— Officers on patrol in the 400 block of East Second Street at 12:01 a.m. Saturday observed an intoxicated person. Officers gave the person in question a ride to their residence.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 11:27 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. The caller advised that they were assaulted the night prior by a client and showed officers bruising on their arm where they were punched and grabbed. Officers gathered information and took photos of the injuries, and the matter will be under investigation.

— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 10:42 p.m. Friday for a report of underage consumption. Officers spoke with the staff who denied that anyone underage was drinking alcohol. The incident will be forwarded to the Ohio Investigative Unit.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:57 p.m. Friday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that two vehicles were parked in front of a dumpster. Officers spoke with the owners of the vehicles, and they were moved.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East State Street and Brooklyn Avenue assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop at 6:41 p.m. Friday. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 3:11 p.m. Friday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that a juvenile was seen outside knocking on a door without a shirt on. Officers spoke with the parent of the juvenile and discovered they were attempting to make contact with a neighbor.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Madison Avenue at 11:33 a.m. Friday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers spoke with the parties involved and advised them to stay away from each other, and that the zoning office would be contacted about the involved property line dispute.

— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 11:22 a.m. Friday observed a person that was visibly upset. Further investigation found that they were a minor who had run off from school, and they were transported to their residence and released to their parents.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:03 a.m. Friday for a reported intoxicated man. The man in question was becoming belligerent and starting to expose himself and the caller requested they be removed. Due to the man’s level of intoxication officers requested medical personnel and EMT responded and transported the man.

— Officers responded with the Goshen Police District to the 1400 block of Country Club Lane at 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a reported road rage incident. The caller advised that another driver had passed him illegally and began brake checking him on East State Street and that the situation had escalated at the intersection of the U.S. Route 62 bypass until both vehicles stopped on Ohio Boulevard. The caller advised that he had approached the other driver to resolve the issue and was threatened with multiple weapons. He provided a license plate number for the vehicle and a written statement. Officers responded to the residence of the other driver, James Huckle, Salem, who admitted that he had a knife during the incident and also gave a written statement. Huckle was arrested for aggravated menacing and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Plymouth Place at 12:55 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised officers that a shed company had come and taken their shed and had damaged their yard and fence. Photos were taken of the damage, and the caller was advised that a report would be on file.

— Officers responded to the overpass of Goshen Road at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday for a report of runaway juveniles. When officers arrived the staff of the group home were on scene and able to get the juvenile in their vehicle and take them home.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 6:23 p.m. Wednesday for a reported abandoned house that was caving in. The area was taped off and utility companies were contacted to shut off all utilities.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of West State Street at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised officers that their neighbor’s chickens keep coming onto her and other neighbors’ properties. Officers observed the chickens on the caller’s property but were unable to contact their owner at that time.
