Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 7:30 p.m. Monday to St. Jacob Logtown Road, Salem Township for a report of breaking and entering. Two men left prior to the deputy arriving, driving a gray Nissan Tital XD with a trailer. The report said they entered a storage garage and sat in the caller’s car and were rummaging in the car, possibly looking for keys. The caller was able to take video of the two men and a report will be on file with pending charges.

— A deputy returned a call at 6:09 p.m. Monday to a Middleton Township resident on Carlisle Road regarding menacing. The person was told how to proceed and to call if the situation escalates.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 5:48 p.m. Sunday at Big Arb’s Campground, Buffalo Road, East Rochester. A deputy made contact with the caller and was told everything was verbal and the caller did not want to pursue charges. A refusal form was signed.

— Deputies responded at 4:54 p.m. Sunday to Pancake Clarkson Road, Middleton Township, for a man making suicidal threats. Deputies were met by the man and his friend and the man said he wanted help. EMS was called and arrived and the man left with them willingly.

— An unruly juvenile was reported at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on Melissa Lane, West Township where a deputy spoke with the mother, who was told how to proceed, and to the juvenile, who was warned of the consequences of their actions. The juvenile said they understood.

— Deputies responded at 6:45 a.m. Saturday to an address in Negley, on Richardson Street, for a domestic incident that happened at a different location, however, the reported victim was at this address in Negley. Then it was learned the victim left and went to where the incident occurred, on Carbon Hill Road, Middleton Township. The deputy arrived and both parties denied any physical violence between the two of them and advised they had been in a fight in Cleveland the night before. Both people had outstanding warrants for their arrest and were taken into custody and taken to jail. The report did not list their names or other identifying information.

–A suspicious man was reported at 3:44 a.m. Saturday on Sell Road, Center Township, but was not found.

— Neighbor troubles were reported at 10:51 p.m. April 13 on Wildwood Drive, Knox Township. Deputies spoke to both parties involved and told them how to proceed.

— A barking dog was reported at 7:16 p.m. April 13 in the area of Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, but was not found.

— Deputies responded to Glenn Road, Madison Township for a medical call reported at 5:29 p.m. April 11. Deputies started CPR until EMS arrived on scene and took over, then EMS transported the person to a hospital.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer report. The caller had several issues regarding the building and management and with a vehicle being parked in front of their apartment. The vehicle was legally parked, and officers could do nothing about the issue, and the other issues were civil. Officers advised the caller to file a civil complaint with the courts regarding the unhandled issues with the apartment complex and management.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 8:11 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers observed the vehicle to be legally parked.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Sunday for a custody issue. The caller advised that their child had not been returned on time by the father, and officers collected information finding that the father had advised that he was on his way by phone shortly before the caller contacted officers. The caller was advised to contact officers if there were any issues when he arrives and to speak with an attorney or child protective services if needed to report the violation of the custody agreement.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 4:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that his neighbor comes outside when he is out with his kids and stares at them. Officers advised that they were not doing anything criminal, but that they would go and speak with them. Officers spoke with the neighbor’s caretaker, who advised that they did have some mental issues but that they would speak to them about it.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 2:35 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a juvenile. Officers spoke with the juvenile in question and her mother, and it was determined that the juvenile was fine.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Seventh Street at 2:34 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. The caller was advised that the tenants could have people over if they wanted but could only grant them permission to places, they would have access to. The caller advised that they would let the person place a live trap inside the garage in an attempt to capture a cat, and requested officers advise the tenant that they did not have access to that building. Officers spoke to the tenants and advised them again that if they went into the garage, they would be criminally charged.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Seventh Street at 11:52 a.m. Sunday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that their cat was stuck in her landlord’s garage and that the building manager told them that they had to leave the garage and were not permitted inside of it. Officers spoke with the property owner, who advised that the tenant was not allowed in the garage, that they were in the eviction process and should not have had an animal on the property. He did give the caller 10 minutes to look for the cat while officers stood by, and once the allotted time was up, the caller was advised that she had to go and was not allowed to be in it. She was also advised that if she did go back inside without permission, she would be charged with criminal trespassing.

— Officers assisted Perry Township officers with an OVI arrest at the police department at 3:31 a.m. Sunday. Officers stood by while they conducted their investigation and collected a breath sampled from the person in question.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 1:26 a.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that they had left clothes in the laundry room, and that when they returned someone had taken them. The caller just wanted a report on file.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 12:46 a.m. Sunday for a medical call. The caller advised that they were not feeling well and admitted to using an unknown narcotic. First responders and EMT responded, and EMT transported them to the hospital for further treatment.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:37 p.m. Saturday for a reported theft of a turtle. The caller advised that they were in the process of moving and that when they had returned to gather their belongings, they noticed their turtle was missing. They alleged that downstairs resident had taken it. The turtle and its tank were observed in the downstairs apartment, and the resident explained that the situation was a misunderstanding, and they believed that the animal had been abandoned. The turtle and its tank were returned to the owners.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 6:17 p.m. Saturday for a reported dog bite. Officers spoke with the juvenile who was bitten, their parents and owners of the dog to get information. The juvenile was going to visit a friend’s house, and the dog reacted to the door being knocked on, and the owner was unable to hold onto the dog as it bit the juvenile. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to Fresh Mark at 5:54 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault. Officers were advised that a man had accused the victim of throwing meat at them and stuck them in the head multiple times. Officers were unable to speak with the man at that time due to them having been sent home by management. Officers spoke with the shift supervisor, who provided a name for the man, but advised that further information would need to be gathered from human resources after the weekend. Investigation is pending.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:35 p.m. Saturday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers found that one of the decorative banners from a business had broken loose and fallen to the ground. An employee of the business arrived, and the item was removed from the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 12:41 p.m. Saturday for a reported dog bite. Officers collected information and a copy of the report will be forwarded to the city health department.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Jennings Avenue at 10:27 a.m. Saturday for a report of grass clippings on the roadway. Officers did not observe any clippings in the roadway near Jennings and West State but did locate a small amount near Jennings and Second Street. Officers spoke with the homeowner, who advised that they would be blowing them off the roadway once they finished cutting.

— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:36 a.m. Saturday for a report of an intoxicated person throwing bottles at patrons. Officers located the person in question, T’era Alexander. Alliance, hiding in the kitchen of a nearby business. Before placing Alexander in a cruiser, officers removed their handcuffs due to them having a purse still strapped to her person, and she began to pull away from officers and failed to follow verbal commands. Alexander was restrained and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with criminal trespass, obstructing official business, and disorderly conduct.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:34 p.m. Friday for a reported combative patient. Officers were advised that they were no longer needed due to the patient being sedated.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 11:15 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic dispute which turned out to be an assault. Officers spoke with both parties involved, who did not want to pursue any charges, and one party left for the night.

— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Fifth Street at 8:53 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless operator. Officers were advised that a vehicle was continuously driving up and down the street at a high rate of speed. Officers checked the area and several side streets but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Howard Avenue at 5:08 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic dispute between two women. Officers found that the altercation was verbal only, and that no physical violence was reported. The parties separated for the time being.
