Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:44 p.m. Sunday to Graham Street, Lisbon for an animal-related incident, making contact with the animal upon arrival. The animal hid under a shed in the yard. The homeowner was notified and was put in contact with a trapper. The homeowner was also advised to call if any other issues arose.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 6:09 p.m. Saturday at a residence on Walnut Street, Rogers. Contact was made with the caller, who was advised how to proceed.

— A call was returned to a person who reported a case of criminal mischief at 5:55 p.m. Saturday on Carey Road, Butler Township. The deputy tried to call three times and was sent to voicemail all three times.

— A welfare check was requested at 4:43 p.m. Saturday at a state Route 164 residence in Center Township. A deputy made contact with a friend of the person and the friend advised an out-of-state relative advised it was ok to make entry. The deputy made entry and had no contact with anyone.

— A deputy at 8:31 p.m. Sunday returned a call regarding a juvenile-related incident at Sycamore Street, Salineville. The caller was advised how to proceed and also told a report will be sent to Children Services and Salineville police for a follow up.

— A person on Walnut Street, Rogers called at 6:47 p.m. Saturday to report having mental health issues, advising they did not need to go to a hospital, but wanted to speak with a deputy. A deputy advised the person to contact a doctor.

— A deputy responded at 4:18 p.m. Saturday to Lincoln Way Sales, U.S. Route 30, Center Township, regarding stolen trailers. The deputy spoke to the business owner and said the trailers would be entered as stolen.

— A man on Georgetown Road, Knox Township called at 9:32 p.m. Friday to report hearing someone shooting in the area. A deputy checked, but didn’t find anyone.

— A deputy was dispatched at 8:56 p.m. Friday to Rochester Road, West Township for a juvenile-related report, which was sent to Child Protective Services.

— A woman on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township reported at 8:44 p.m. Friday that her generator was stolen from a family member’s property on Latta Road, Unity Township.

— A deputy returned a call at 7:42 p.m. Friday to a Center Township residence regarding a protection order violation. The person was advised how to proceed.

— A woman on Bayard Road, West Township reported at 3:56 p.m. Friday that several of her juvenile son’s family members arrived at her residence causing a disturbance with her son over bullying his cousin at school. All of them left before a deputy arrived. The woman was told how to get a protection order.

— A deputy took a report on station at 3:54 p.m. Friday regarding fraud.

— A deputy responded at 7:04 a.m. Friday to a property on Kelly Park Road, Fairfield Township where a black string sports bag was found in a yard near the roadway and contained multiple items of drug paraphernalia consisting of used needles, pipes and glass pipes. The items were placed into evidence for the Drug Task Force to take for destruction.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Madison Avenue at 6:52 p.m. Monday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller was upset that their neighbor placed small pieces of cut trees along their property line. Based on the zoning takes that were present, the logs in question were on the correct property. Officers attempted to explain that the caller needed to contact zoning and get some people to survey the property line multiple times. There was no criminal activity present, and the dispute is civil.

— Officers were advised of an incident which began at school and carried over into a social media group at 5:20 p.m. Monday. The matter will be turned over to the school resource officer for further review.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 4:34 p.m. Monday for a reported road rage incident with an alleged threat to shoot someone. Both the caller and the other driver’s vehicles were stopped, and no weapons were located. Both parties admitted to the incident and declined to provide statements and were advised to call police immediately when an incident occurred.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East Pershing Street at 1:21 a.m. Monday stopped a vehicle for a moving violation. During the stop criminal indicators were observed and K-9 Chaz was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. Contraband was recovered from an occupant and the driver’s seat and door. Officers arrested the driver, Lance Morris, 39, Lisbon and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a turn signal violation. With no licenses driver and no owner of the vehicle available it was towed from the driveway it pulled into by Kaiser Towing. The other occupants were detained and released on scene.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Oak Street at 10:04 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. Officers found the person to be in the area with a tree trimming service.

— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of East Third Street at 2:50 a.m. Monday stopped a vehicle for multiple violations. During the investigation officers found the driver, Troy Hughes, 53, Salem, to be intoxicated and operating the vehicle while suspended. Officers took Hughes into custody and transported him to the police department for further testing. Hughes refused to submit a breath test, and once the processing was complete, they were transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with OVI, OVI refusal, driving under suspension, and left of center.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 2:41 a.m. Monday for a report of menacing. The caller advised that a man sent her food via Door Dash and will not stop texting her and that she was scared to go outside due to them knowing her address. Officers searched the area and advised her to block the man’s number and screenshot anything he sends. A contact number for the person was given to officers to attempt to contact him and advise him to stop.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Seventh Street at 12:24 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man was stranding on their porch. Officers spoke with a man across the street who advised they had mistakenly gone to the wrong residence.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday that requested to speak with a sergeant who was not present at the time. Officers will forward the person’s phone number to the sergeant.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Euclid Street at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that the person in question was outside doing burn outs. Officers did not locate the person in their vehicle, but did speak with the man, who denied doing burnouts.

— Officers responded to the area of North Howard Avenue at 9:53 p.m. Sunday for a reported dog at large. The caller advised that while walking down the sidewalk a dog came running out and barking after them. Officers located the dog on the porch where it belonged, and the owner was advised to bring it inside.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Olive Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious person yelling. Officers spoke with a man who advised that he was just talking to his friend on the phone.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Arch Street at 9:04 p.m. Sunday for an unknown problem. Officers spoke with the resident who advised that there was no problem at their residence, but they have been having issues with a grandson. The North Royalton Police Department was contacted to do a wellness check on the grandson.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Madison Avenue at 7:32 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a man left the hospital with a cut on his finger and was intoxicated. Officers located the man, who was highly intoxicated, lying in the backyard of a residence and spoke with him. The man advised that he was trying to talk home. The fire department responded and medically cleared the man, and officers transported him to his residence.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:17 p.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that someone was knocking on their door. Officers checked the interior of the residence and surrounding areas but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Arch Street at 4:57 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers were unable to speak with the woman in question due to them no longer living within the city.

— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 4:53 p.m. Sunday for a reported trespass complaint. The caller advised that they wanted a woman trespassed from their residence, and a trespass notice was completed. Officers were unable to contact the woman in question to serve the notice, and officers advised the person to call back if the woman returned. The trespass notice will be served when officers are able to contact the woman.

— Officers on patrol in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers attempted contact at the residence, but nobody answered the front door. Dispatch made contact with the caller by phone and learned they were unable to get to the door due to a minor injury. Officers were able to enter and stood by until first responders arrived.

— Jeremy Pue, 27, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after a registration check on his vehicle showed him to be suspended at 4:48 a.m. Sunday.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 2:41 a.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a woman in a red hoodie was knocking on his door. The woman was located down the street, and she advised that she was knocking on her uncle’s door. Officers gave the woman a ride to the 300 block of Walnut Street.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 12:11 a.m. Sunday for a reported irate patient. The caller advised that a man with a mental disability was destroying things in the building. The fire department and EMT responded to the scene and the man was transported by EMT.

— Officers responded to the area of South Madison Avenue at 10:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles running through yards. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 9:02 p.m. Saturday for a report of threats. The caller advised that a man had threatened them with a firearm. Officers spoke with the man, who was subsequently removed from the vehicle and detained. During the investigation officers found that the man in question had dropped a woman off at a residence and then approached the residence themselves but was not known by the caller causing a misunderstanding. Words were exchanged between the parties and the man allegedly threatened to shoot them with a firearm. The caller requested to pursue the matter legally for possible charges and the man, whose name was not listed, was trespassed from the property and sent on their way. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East Third Street at 6:51 p.m. Saturday for a report of dogs barking excessively. Officers spoke with the owners of the dog and advised them to bring them inside.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Maples Street at 5:21 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the resident in question who advised they’d had a recent argument with a visitor and had thrown some kitchen items in the back yard and driveway, but that everything was fine now. Officers gathered some items for the person to take back inside and advised them to call if any further issues developed later.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 4:25 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man was walking around yelling and aggressively walking up to vehicles. Officers spoke with the man, who denied approaching vehicles. Officers advised him to cease yelling.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:09 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man going through a dumpster. Officers were unable to locate the man, and an extra patrol will be placed in the area.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 1:29 p.m. Saturday for a report of damage to a window. The caller advised that it appeared that someone had attempted to break into their apartment, and that they had heard a loud noise like something hitting the window the night prior, but they had thought it was the wind. Officers took photos of the damage and advised there would be a report on file, and an extra watch will be posted in the area.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 1:04 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a woman whose landlord was screaming at them. Officers spoke with the person in question, who advised that the landlord had left prior to officers’ arrival. Officers advised them to call back if the landlord returned and caused more issues.
