Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched to Sunset Drive, Hanover Township at 8:45 p.m. May 30 for an aggravated menacing report. A summons for aggravated menacing was issued out of Columbiana County Municipal Court for a woman from Sunset Drive, Hanover Township.

— A man on Railroad Street, Hanover Township reported at 5:05 p.m. May 26 that a woman from Lisbon-Dungannon Road, Center Township stole his white 1994 Honda Accord without his permission from his property. A warrant was issued for theft for the woman out of Columbiana County Municipal Court. The man called in and said she parked the vehicle in the parking lot of Days Inn, state Route 154, Lisbon.

Salem

— A dispute was reported in the 800 block of Hawley Avenue at 11:01 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the people involved and advised them to stay away from the property the dispute had occurred at.

— The occupants of a vehicle in the 1000 block of Maple Street reportedly threw several small fireworks out the window at a group of people at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any vehicles that matched the description given.

— Officers spoke with four juveniles in Centennial Park after hours at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised them that the park was closed and they needed to leave.

— A woman who had been previously trespassed from a property in the 300 block of East Sixth Street allegedly left a can of food on the doorstep and sat outside the residence, cursing at the caller at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday. Officers took the woman, Ariel Durham, Salem, into custody, charged with criminal trespass, and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.

— A physical altercation between residents was reported at an assisted living facility in the 2000 block of Bentley Drive at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised both individuals to try their best to stay away from each other, and the facility staff advised that the incident would be handled administratively.

— A man was reported acting strange in the 500 block of East Perry Street at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the man and requested the fire department check on them due to his behavior. The man was transported the Salem Regional Medical Center, where he had to be physically restrained by the medical staff and spit on three officers. Charges for harassment with a bodily substance will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

— A person to be removed was reported in the 200 block of Park Avenue at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the person, advising them that they would be arrested for criminal trespass if they returned to the property.

— Officers spoke with a woman about an issue that occurred at their workplace by phone at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised them of their options.

— A money order was reportedly cashed without the owner’s knowledge or permission in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.

— A person to be removed was reported in the 200 block of Park Avenue at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the person in question, who admitted to using narcotics and was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.

— Several juveniles were reported climbing on the roof of a dug out at Waterworth Memorial Park at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised the juveniles to cease their actions, or they could be trespassed from the park or face criminal charges for any damage, and they advised that they understood and that they would not do it again.

— A man was reported to have attacked a vehicle in the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the man in question, Lee Courtney, 60, Salem, who was highly intoxicated. Officers took him into custody charged with disorderly conduct and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Damage to a fence was reported in the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive at 2:46 p.m. Wednesday. Officers provided the caller with options for dealing with the situation.

— A civil issue was reported in the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 12:27 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that a family member had come to their house demanding a vehicle that belonged to their deceased nephew and had been placed in storage until it could go through probate court. Officers spoke with the family member by phone, advising them that the matter was civil and that they had been trespassed from the caller’s property.

— Officers assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force with a warrant check at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

— Ryian Vanpelt, 56, Salem, was cited for unsecured load after a large amount of wet cement was left in the roadway at the intersection of South Ellsworth Avenue and West State Street at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.

— A person to be removed was reported at a business in the 200 block of Elm Avenue at 6:52 a.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the person in question, who advised that he was at the business to pick up some of his belongings. The man was able to retrieve his property from the business and was then trespassed from the property.
